I can speak to that wonderful conversation at 28:00. The majority of music I've made in my lifetime has been motivated by a need to lift myself out of a mood or to bring myself to a place I'd rather be. I think it's vulnerability, in general, that inspires. It's almost like you feel exposed in the world and music-making is like finding clothes to cover up with.
