The Pink Floyd album some unique edits/versions on it. Both Shine On and Another Brick 2 are unique edits only on that compilation. Money is a re-recording by David Gilmour.
I don’t think I ever realized these were different versions. I haven’t actually listened to this in a long time and now obviously this one is a mess. I’m gonna have to pick this up again!
There are a couple of great books about the history of Stax records. "Respect Yourself" by Robert Gordon and "Soulsville USA" by Rob Bowman. The history of Stax was in many ways tied to the civil rights movement. Some heavy shit - including the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King - were taking place in Memphis during the prime of Stax. There is a lot of heartbreak in the Stax story along with so much fabulous music.
I love the Herbie Thrust Album. You got a deal on it. In my City (Toronto) They don't go for less than $25 for the original ( which I have) but that's the beauty of flee markets -lol Some people don't know about Discogs. It equals out sometimes though as there was a flee market I used to go to and the records were $2 each and in great condition. I would find Minnie Riperton, One way, Alicia Myers, Bill Somers and loads of other funk and jazz funk records for $2.
Man, I can't believe how much some of those different penrose 45's go for sometimes. I'm looking for the Jensine Benitez colored 45 and there's only one for sale on Discogs for 40 bucks! I love this series brotha man, I've thought of different series in my mind of what I would do if I had the nuts to start a RU-vid channel lol. Always fun to watch your videos.
If you started a channel I would follow it! $40 is actually cheap. Some of these pink reissues go for over $200 sometimes. I can swing $40 and $60 for a 45 here and there but over a $100 is way too much - but in the world of 45s it’s actually not expensive at all. That is where the record addiction gets really bad!
@@PiecesofVinyl I agree, I'm just being a baby about it lol. I bought Thee Sacred Souls Dinked Edition aftermarket, and it was a little over 100, and I have a Monophonics Sounds of Sinning Colored record that was a very limited edition and I paid 85 for it recently. Maybe for me it's just the difference between a full LP and a 45 lol.
That Herbie Hancock tho! I need to add that one to my collection! I got Headhunter this last year for Christmas! Great video Rocco! Also I know you messaged me a while back about selling your RT85, let me know if your still interested in selling it!
I am still interested! You should def. add Thrust - and Man-Child - anything with Paul Jackson on Bass, Jaco Pastorious actually shows up on some of the later Herbie stuff too.
I got distracted trying to figure out what was the record on display to your left as you were presenting Green Onions. I couldn't figure it out ....what is it??
