Essentially, whatever in 5:15 means, is that they changed the tool that was being used for compiling Discord's code from Typescript React to minified static Javascript. They made this decision due to Webpack being controversial amongst the web development community for slow build times. The reason it broke mods, was because both RS-Pack and WebPack compile and work differently. Now you know!
@@whoman0385 and @ShafterPlay sometimes it's good being a nerd, as long as it's not annoying. In this case I'm not annoying at all cause anyone could simply skip this comment
The thing is with clips privacy: turning off the setting for having your voice recorded will only apply to discords clips. If someone is using any other external recording software, (and trust me, people will not be looking to make the switch from obs, medal, or anything to discords clips) your settings won’t mean anything.
I love these pop-out chats already. I'm an online schooler in a school Discord, plus someone who writes non-critical to-do lists and uploads digital notes in a personal server (for convenience not backup). It's going to be amazing to pop out these channels to my second monitor to just glance at them whenever they're needed just like you can already do with voice calls without needing to worry about the other cluttered UI. There's a BD extension that does almost that, just hides the UI, but I've found that extension's a bit buggy.
Call banners feel like they'll be both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because it means you can change from having the background take the primary color of your avatar (no matter what it is, even if it results in an eye-searing neon hot pink), a curse because people could intentionally set it to that eye-searing neon hot pink no matter what their avatar is.
@@SunsetEnvy I mean they could just make it like how twitch does it where you unlock them based on month and then can select any from the ones you have unlocked
The custom app icon was a thing on mobile for a little while to my knowledge. When I tried it, it did change the icon and didnt look half bad. Also think there are more options for the icon
To be fair it's not much of a privacy problem when someone could just record you outside of the clips feature. Obviously would still be nice if the setting was available to everyone.
Knowing the devs it's probably a very dumb oversight and they forgot that this is a feature that affects other users when going with their standard early access system
@@beegcreeps6615business like 101 is making money. Servers cost money, employees cost money, realistically how do you expect a company like discord to function without making money?
5:16 webpack is a javascript bundling tool used to bundle js application mainly used with react js. rs pack is the new tech used in next js 13+ and so many frameworks, which uses rust(a super fast programming lang used to write operation systems) as the main codebase making it a billion times faster(like 27000 times) and changing the main js bundler will definitely affect client mods
ok but you forgot to mention the new predatory and horrifyingly invasive warning system thing that uses AI message scanning for all of your messages to look for ToS violations to completely throw privacy out the window
@AmericanKetchup. they might next week or the coming month and i honestly might stop paying fo nitro the only rzn why i do is for the halloween exclusive profile effect
7:21 YOOO THERE'S MY GIF IN RIGHT TOP CORNER, THE SLUNGUS ONE (bunny) you can find it right now by typing slungus in gifs, and then add the left bottom corner user in the gif, so i can prove it
well, thats what you call " greedyness " ( if you know what I mean. ) usually companies that make these social media apps or any social chat app, they care ALOT MORE about the premium subscription of the social chat app. and continously updating the premium subscription features with better ones, and announce the new features, making customers hesitate to subcribe to it. or start thinking its actually much more better.
Everyone can already screenrecord with OBS for example to record someone his screen, so your point on privacy for being able to clip other people their streams isn’t relevant
lol the popout chat feature has been apart of another service called guilded its been there for the past 4 years discord finally decided to copy this feature that guilded had since day one took them so long
Okay, but IT SHOULD STAY RED, I want to see red in the corner of my vision to know if I'm muted or not, instead of having to double take over and over to make sure I am.
Meanwhile they can't even fix screen sharing properly. Can't stream on 1080p in 60fps because its all pixelized. And i have 1gbps internet and good GPU. So it's not my fault for curious people.
