The pricing is pretty ridiculous. It's still expensive with nitro and the free decorations you do get with nitro are just re-used from discord's 8th birthday event, and it doesn't even include all of the decorations from the event it's only 3 of them.
gotta love how what would normally be a decent customization feature by itself (icon borders) gets forcefully turned into just another way to profit off of something they put virtually 0 effort into, basically making it the worst version of itself with barely any personalization options... pretty much any idea like this will always be better if you let users mess with the art itself instead of having pre-made art.
Actually pre-made decorations aren't that stupid if you think about performance. All of those decorations are onetime downloaded to your device and are reused on every person that uses them. If everyone could upload their own decoration, effect or what ever comes next that would be another 3mb-10mb your device needs to download and process for **every user** and every decoration. That would specially be bad for mobile
Cool thing about the DisXCore decorations: As long as you don't try to change them or remove them, the decoration will stay on your profile after Nitro runs out, as long as you have them equipped. While it still sucks you can't use change them or use them at all, atleast they let you keep them equiped rather than striping them from your profile entirely, like the banner and colors. Either that, or I am extremely lucky to not have it taken away, but I doubt it.
The bad thing about Discord's new profile effects is that some of them might get too distracting and you can't see their profile perfectly because it's gonna annihilate people's eyes with a thousand effects on it.

My friend gave a take on it as the decorations were in beta and I happened to have been gifted nitro for a month and tested an icon frame. They are hella distracting make a server list/your dm list not uniform, which isn't the best thing accessibility wise. And if the profile animations go and tank your pc, that will definitely not go over nicely in the community either.
Discord HAS added localized pricing, BUT its only for the countries that already have localized pricing in the nitro subscription. For an example, i'm Brazilian and for me it costs only 4 U$D to purchase the 7 U$D profile decorations. So instead of paying R$ 38 for the "fantasy avatars decorations" i'm paying only R$ 22. Idk but for me the pricing is still kinda high for some ugly avatar decorations.

@@2KDrop maybe because during that time they didn't have an established idea of what the avatar decorations would be and they were testing this very feature while still giving benefits to those who support discord through nitro? besides nothing says that only 3 avatars will be what nitro users will get and this is OBVIOUSLY still in development and discord makes this clear and, the nitro avatar decorations are available as long as you keep paying your subscription and are free of charge, and the microtransaction avatar decorations are permanent regardless of whether you have nitro or not
@@spacita You can't disable it if someone else uses it. I have autism, and one of the things I struggle with bright lights, loud sounds, and I struggle to process things when there's too much going on at once. If I click on someone's profile and am hit with this ridiculous profile effect, avatar effect, animated profile, and a bunch of animated emojis in their bio, I could easily get sensory overload from it.
I think Discord actually experimented with microtransactions in the past as well, back in the early days of the stickers feature, but it was limited to specific regions before it got closed down.
the thing that trips me up is that we've seen avatar decorations before, at least once but I'm thinking maybe twice, what's stopping them from in 3 months time going "yeah that didn't work so we're getting rid of it" then timmy's mum is down $140 on something not even accessible through a 3rd party client because the people making plugins for it don't even want it

I honestly don't mind the store, I just wish they'd make these better. All of the current decorations are so niche they just do not look good. All those ones from the Spring events for example were pretty decent, and all they did is just take a generic thing like flowers, and recolor them a bunch of times. People love to color code their profiles, so doing simple designs with different color options (Maybe say make them 6.99$ and let you customize the color whenever you want after buying it) and they'd be worth it to someone who is into customization.

There are regional prices in turkey, but they are: 75 liras for the most expensive ones, 45(around that but not sure) for the middle ones And 26 for the cheapest ones. So 2.7 dollars, 1.6 dollars and a dollar. But I think the turkey regional prices should really be the default ones, because the 7 dollar shit is outrageous.

IMO, discord has made a mistake with pricing, they should have priced them much much lower, I feel like they are failing to take advantage a lower price making more people buy them Like these are not micro transactions, they're Macrotransactions
Why are microtransactions so often so incredible expensive? They aren't "micro" at this point. 7 £/€/$ for a simple picture on your avatar that certainly did cost Discord a fair amount when they commissioned that artist or paid their internal artist for the work. But they're going to sell it over and over again without any expenses after it's released. Do like 50 p/c/¢ or less instead. Plus you have to pay to get access to pay ... which is ridiculous too.
next thing they're gonna be adding a spin wheel or crates for these "Buy our 15 USD ultra super duper boosted nitro crate for a 3% chance to get an avatar decoration you actually want!"
I like the decorations, they been testing them for awhile and nitro users have been able to use them randomly for the past year, now they are out for real I am glad I can have one and get to keep it, however I'm not paying 7 Shmeckles for it 😂 I'll just use the free Nitro ones
About prices for avatar decorations. I'm Russian, and for example, "Flaming Sword" costs me 435₽ (CA$5.94+-) at full price without nitro and 305₽ (CA$4,17+-) with nitro. BUT. We can’t buy anything on Discord ("billing is paused in your country"), which is strange, since regional prices have appeared. But still, thanks to my country for cutting off the opportunity to buy meaningless things

More power to them really. Discord has provided a great tool to us for free and they should earn some money from those that want to support the devs. They have provided you with content that puts dinner on your plate now they want theirs
Yeah i agree, this definetly the best thing they could do. I can imagine some people buying these pfp borders and if it helps discord stay afloat im all for it. I'm also ashamed to admit my goober goblin brain likes the flashy animations of the profile effects.
For once, Australia actually got a W and the price is exactly the same as the US. $7 USD = about $11 AUD, but $7 AUD is $4.50 USD. I'm actually happy with our pricing because you usually expect stupid prices here. It costs _more_ for once if I go through third parties that get it cheaper in other regions. It's an optional cosmetic that's reasonably priced makes my profile look more aesthetic, so Idm supporting it. I just wish they'd bring back some of the previous decorations. The original ones we had for Christmas last year or smth were really nice. But Christmas isn't that far off, so I expect they'll probably come back soon enough.
if they keep the same price everywhere, like 9.99$ on us and 9.99(briish pounds) and 9.99(can dollarrs), in india its 9.99(Rupees) which is like less than a dollar!
I thought the idea was neat but the price is absurd... If they sold them for about a dollar they'd probably sell more... That's the true goal of microtransactions, and why they're called MICROtransactions... because many of them are so cheap you don't even think about the fact that you bought 10 pieces of cheap trinkets, but when the trinket costs 7 dollars you may think more about whether or not you NEED this item or not and if its really worth 7 dollars... and most people would probably say no.
