Usually when the infantile 'based' crowd come in, you know you've exhausted your limits. Mishima is known for having multiple homosexual relationships. He sees women as redundant not just to his spiritual growth but sexual. Of course he'd say this.
@soulfuzz368
@soulfuzz368 3 месяца назад
@@grather-e3j Ive read much more from and about Mishima since I wrote this and I think you are completely and utterly wrong. His rejection of femininity springs from the inability of the society to be honest about what the true nature of the female consists of. There is a resentment that builds into something close to hatred when you can see something so obvious that almost everyone is pretending not to notice. The noble lie eats at the conscious until there is nothing left. This is not a man justifying his perversions through his philosophy like Foucault but someone lashing out at the mirage that prevents man from achieving something greater. I am not bothered by being called infantile but I am never part of any crowd you sanctimonious fool.

Is there much other writings about Mishima's opinion on Christianity? Also iirc the main love interest in his fictionalized autobiography "Confessions of a Mask" was Christian
@pbanks
@pbanks Год назад
His essays still lack good translations, but Masaki (Barbarization à la Japonaise) seems to be fixing that. Mishima mentions Christianity a few times in "The Thought of the Universal Great Peace", and in "The Way of the Samurai" speaks positively about it as a philosophy of love, and its ability to gather so many followers who had a purpose which they were willing to die for. But I suppose he wouldn't care for the more modern, feminized form of Christianity. And he dislikes the Christian distinction made between the eros & agape forms of love.

I will say I don’t disagree with his opinions as quoted in this video that he “believes in the old fashioned way of thinking” cause I have met men who have had that way of thinking but to quote Simone de Beauvoir “No one is more arrogant toward women, more aggressive or scornful, than the man who is anxious about his virility.” Or “If the feminine issue is so absurd, is because the male's arrogance made it "a discussion” those quotes are the reasons as to why it makes me disagree with his opinions on women.

I have great respect for Mishima and his respective work. I understand and agree that women embody many of the accusations he sets forth, but my ultimate disagreement lies in the criticism of Christianity, combined with the underlying thread of visceral hate concerning his opinions of the opposite sex. Ephesians 5:22-33 unlines Christian teaching for women: that they should obey their husbands as they would God; so too should men treat **their wife** (note, not all women) with the respect, dignity and love that Christ has for His Church. In summary, the woman obeys the man, and the man sacrifices and provides for the woman. This is why men were the head of the household in Christendom. I am sympathetic to the plight of men in this post-modern hell in which we find ourselves in, but I would refute that you answer this plight with scorn and hatred. I found in my personal experience that if you show a women love & devotion, she will respect you and obey your will. I only hope and pray that God offers you the same opportunities.

What I don’t get about anti-Christian traditionalists is this: it’s like I’m Schrödingers Christian in some ways; chivalry makes us some kind of simp but sexual morality makes us misogynists ??
@actuallyKriminell
@actuallyKriminell Год назад
There is a fine line between being generous and being a simp. Difference is cost. If you are a man of status, you do not open the door for a cheap slore. By doing so you show you are willing to serve. By that service you display that you are beneath her. If she is a woman of class, you don"t have to have the optics of the servant of the slore, therefore its not as costly. Expensive gifts are a similar story. Dont buy a woman expensive gifts if you don't have that kind of money laying around collecting dust. Once again it is a sign of submission. And not to god, but the wordly authority of a woman
@prydain4131
@prydain4131 4 месяца назад
@@actuallyKriminellThat said, in Europe chivalry was the socio-religious knightly custom of European nobility and not exactly identical as the morality of priests (much like a samurai's morality and social roles would not be the same as that of Shinto or Buddhist priests) - one couldn't imagine a 'chivalrous knight' serving a lowborn woman in that era, since commoners were looked upon with ambivalence and particularly uppity ones with disdain.

@prydain I read his book, I was writing an essay on The Sound of Waves, which I loved, so I was looking for interviews to understand Yukio Mishima. He had his way of thinking and, still, he wrote amazing female characters in The Sound of Waves. But... the comment section is taking advantage of this to throw hate on women without understanding the context of Mishima's life and sexual preferences. I really enjoy Yukio Mishima and I didn't expect to be annoyed.
@RainerRilke3
@RainerRilke3 4 месяца назад
@@CamilaDenleschi I agree. I think Mishima himself would think of today's incel-culture mysogynists as effeminate and weak because they seek to possess women not unlike women seek to possess men. Personally I agree with Mishima's views even though I don't hate women as individuals, and I think his thoughts function quite well as critiques of gender and social roles, as long as you don't fall into gender essentialism. Feminism will never amount to anything of notice unless it transcends into gender abolitionism, and in that pursuit I think there's a lot to learn from this text.

There's a tradition that prior to eve's creation when the concept of women was brought up in heaven by yhwh a few angels protested on the grounds that a woman would induce Adam to sin. Yhwh became very incensed and punished some of those opposed to it. He also prophetically told some of the critics Azazel and Shemyazah that if they were on earth they would sin worse than men on account of women. Can't really call YHWH a woman hater if he not only makes women in a state where they are basically a trap but refuses to revise his design into something less problematic prior to eve's creation and gets pissed when woman's glaring issues are pointed out.

Mishima is correct; his honesty is refreshing and admirable. I especially liked his take on chivalry. Most men attempting to criticize feminism still believe that chivalry is a good thing, and it is despicable to participate in chivalric acts just to get a woman to like you more. It's really hard to cope with being born as a woman, knowing that the heights and dephts of male thinking will never be available to you. Not to mention the possibility of being infertile, which will cause your life to be essentially close to useless.

@@leonhauptmann3301Well, you can still work in the medical field, prescibe medication and wipe old people's butts as a woman, but overall, working in some depersonalised clinic will make only have a shortterm positive effect on the wellbeing of people, and holds no longterm benefit for society. All of the greatest things that have been achieved in this world have been achieved by men. Even if you look at truly exceptional women: Mary Shelley couldn't write like Dostoevsky, Roza Shanina couldn't shoot like Simo Häyhä, Jean d'Arc is nothing compared to Napoleon.
