Congratulations Mr Roger. You have shown well all beauties that I haven't seen and I'll explain why my name is Piero and I spent 2 summer, the first in 1968 and rhe second I 1969 in Berwick when I was 18/and 19 years old. Now I am nearly 73 and I haven't forgottenn that lovely time in Berwick i have worked as a waiter at the Castle Hotel. And I am glad to say hello to Kathleen who I met at Kings Arm. And again Diddy Lucy Edward Pokora Mrs Mac Laren Mr Todrick The Roselli family Toni Corvi where I ate my first fish and chip. I apologize if I forgot anyone. It's beeb so many years but I often think of Berwick.
Live to be near wster too Can't agree more Peaceful and calm Just never enough Water Sea Thanksssssss for your clear accent How can you be from Edinburgh Thumbs uo to your channel
Thanks Roger for highlighting the many attractions of Berwick. Last there, a few weeks ago! It's also a great base to visit other places like St.Abbs, Kelso, Bamburgh, and Lindisfarne, to name a few!
Like yourself I've crossed that bridge on the train many a time, but so good to get a closer look at the town, thank you! Still lucking out with the weather I see :)
That railway viaduct which is where the East Coast Main Line crosses over the River Tweed is such a engineering masterpiece. Stunning viaduct in Northeast England. 😍
Indeed Roger. *Some* border towns do hide their light under a bushel. Another example would be Goerlitz (although it must attract more visitors than Berwick) on the German/Polish border. In the case of Berwick it needs more trains to call there and at least one international standard hotel to stimulate visitor interest. I am sure it already has done but the Council needs to woo an international chain and spend money on PR.
Thanks Alex. I did drive to Berwick rather than get the train which would have been my preference. I'm intruiged by Goerlitz now and will ad that to my bucket list! 😀
@@RogEdwardsTV Personally I've never visited but I have read positive things. The town is divided by the Oder-Neissa line so the Polish section is named Zgorzelec. Nearest airport would be Dresden. Trains from the latter run East to Goerlitz. Were I to visit I would be tempted to continue East by train to Wroclaw (formerly Breslau when part of Germany) which has been rebuilt since WW2.
Pity about the scruffy neglected town centre and the aggressive seagulls during the summer , streets and shop fronts covered in seagull poo ! Don’t eat outside whatever you do 😳😳😳
