Hello from Peru. Cuenca is one of the most beautiful city not only in Ecuador, but also in South America. The city is pretty amazing at street level, but also flying over it with a drone. Ecuadorians do have a very good taste for building such a beautiful place and preserving it through the good and bad circunstances. As a side note, the kind of singing at the beginning of the video is VALS and the music was composed by Julio Jaramillo, born in Guayaquil. If you are interested in this kind of music - not popular among young people, nowadays , then keywords -> valses peruanos, valses ecuatorianos
Retired to Cuenca 10 months ago. Committed to a year. It would be easy to stay here forever. But that's not the plan. Took a week exploratory trip to the coast. Vast difference. But thrilled to report. Same great people. Trip to your neighborhood coming up. You have become one of my favorite guides. Gracias !
Kind of all over the place. Majority of the time we live in Fairview, Utah. We try to spend as much time in Malacatos/Vilcabamba area as we can though and Ecuador is a goal for the near future ❤ Such a special place!
@@AbundantLivingEcuador have you considered making videos about how safe each city or town is from climate change effects? Knowing rainfall statistics and water levels in rivers for example would be a good quality to know
Not 1930. "It was founded on April 12, 1557, on the ruins of the Inca city of Tomebamba (a major administrative center)[8] and the Cañari city of Guapondelig,[8] by Gil Ramírez Dávalos,[9] under orders of the viceroy of Peru Andrés Hurtado de Mendoza." Wikipedia
You're absolutely right, and I apologize for the mistake. After doing more research, here's what I found: "Eloy Alfaro's government initially named it Luis Vargas Torres Square. However, in 1920, the name was changed to Abdón Calderón. The park features a gazebo and a monument to Abdón Calderón, which was inaugurated on May 24, 1931. The monument, consisting of four hemicycles, was constructed in bronze by European sculptor Carlos Mayer, who was commissioned for the project on September 22, 1927. This park serves as the venue for significant events in the city, including Corpus Christi and the commemoration of Cuenca's Independence."
