We were visiting Opatija two or three years back to back when i was a little child (some 36 years ago). We were living with / at a host family for two or three weeks. I can't remember everything but i remember how nice, kind and generous they were. I remember the harbour. The sea. The view from our host familiy's house. I've always wondered what has become of them.
This seems to be a very charming place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!

We visited Opatija today on our way from Zagreb to Rovinj. It was beautiful. From Rovinj we will visit Pula, Motovun, Porec and a couple of other towns before heading to Split.
Great video! I’m in Opatija now for the annual summer sensual days (SSD) festival (which also continues in Rovinj). My main goal here is dancing workshops and parties but on Monday I’ll go visit that mermaid statue and walk the promenade a bit before heading to Rovinj.

Nel 1844 fu edificata da Iginio Scarpa Villa Angiolina la prima villa di Abbazia in onore di Angiola Sartorio di Trieste sua moglie scomparsa prematuramente. Solo nel 1991 nasce la crozia dalla dissoluzione della jugoslavia, a parte gli infissi in alluminio dorato sulle ville biedermaier e liberty e la sistematica cancellazione della storia il contributo dei nuovi arrivati (sul cacaduro degli altri )è inesistente...c'è qualcosa che non torna..! 1844 villa Angiolina...1991 crozia ...un po troppo tempo intercorso per prendersi gli onori ..no?

@@sandramartincic5030 ..ne è la sola traduzione letterale, nemmeno 200 anni fa quando fu edificata Villa Angiolina dal mio 9 volte Nonno Iginio Scarpa venne in mente di cambiare nome a questo angolo di paradiso essendoci già presente per l'appunto l'Abbazia benedettina,avrebbe potuto chiamarlo come voleva...ma..RISPETTO!...terre in cui da secoli (molti secoli) si è sempre parlato l'istroVeneto anche sotto dominio dell'Austria prima e Austrungheria dopo(per un breve periodo)... purtroppo la cieca ignoranza primitiva ha fatto di tutto per cancellare e sostituire con menzogne (come i nomi storpiati delle località e persone) per cui Marco Polo diventa croato!!!😂 Marko Pölõ 🤣😂😂😂...si ride per non piangere!!! ..si è perpetrata una sistematica e sistemica azione di cancellazione della storia reale per crearne una farlocca in cui appropiarsi della storia altrui (storpiandone genesi ed eventi) per poter colmare la mancanza di essa nelle popolazioni rurali chiamate a ripopolare città lasciate deserte dopo l'esilio seguito alle atrocità compiute A GUERRA FINITA contro la popolazione Italiana!!! ...primitivi che giunti ad esempio nella città di Fiume e ricevendo alloggio magari in un bel palazzo in stile biedermeier con mobilio di pregio in stile liberty, parcheggiava il suo miglialino portato al laccio dai balcani nella vasca con i rubinetti d'oro mentre a calci rompeva la credenza (anch'essa in stupendo stile liberty) per accendere il fuocherello ristoratore in casa !!! Bravo,allora io sono Croato e per me e sempre Opatija se devo parlate con la lingua croata! Se parlo in lingua italiana che parlo in continuo con mio papa e con mio figlio allora e Abbazia! Punto! Tutto altro non a senso e solo perdita di tempo! Parlo come uno che non ha tanti interessi
@@sandramartincic5030 ..ho un amico a Fiume si chiama Hrvoje ...la prima volta che ci siamo visti mi dice che lo avrei potuto chiamare Ercole.... l'ho sempre chiamato Hrvoje! ..ormai sono anni. Non è mai tempo sprecato parlare di storia.
