One week after I appeared on The Ryan Turbidy Show speaking about my family's mental health problems, I decided to do an impromptu video about the aftermath of being on national radio and sharing the most personal and raw parts of your life with literally hundreds and thousands of people.
I know the video runs a bit long, but there is a reason why. There were certain parts of my story that weren't covered that much during my interview - including my own suicide attempt two years ago and the aftermath of that.
As an Mental Health Ambassador for Reach Out Ireland (ie.reachout.com/) my aim in sharing my story has always been to promote honesty and to create a world where one doesn't have to be brave to share their experiences, but a world where we can all speak openly and honestly without judgement.
Suicide and mental health difficulties affect so, so many people... and I know this video is a bit long, but please, give it a watch and see how you feel after. I think you'll be surprised by what you learn; not only about me, but about how people react when you do bare your soul.
P.S - thank you to The Ryan Turbidy Show for giving me the platform to share my story and raise awareness x

You remind me so much of Hazel Hayes (an Irish RU-vidr). It's great to see you speaking so openly about everything. I'm sure you're helping a lot of people. It's great to hear how supportive people were afterwards. Well done, Vicky. :)
