Beautiful. The Akan peoples are matrilineal. The blood of the family is traced through the mothers, as women are the gender that creates humans (mogya is blood but is also spiritual), inside themselves. The Asantehemaa (Queen Mother) & the Asantehene (King). Although Chritstian European colonizers tried to destroy the power of the Queen Mothers, erase Akom (Akan traditional religion), destroy women as priestesses & replace the matrilineal family with the patrilineal system. GOD of the Akan is a trinity Onyame (female, mother), Onyankopon (son), & Odomankoma (architect)-three beings in one. Asase Yaa is second only to GOD, she is above all Abosom. In other Akan beliefs, Ngame is the creator/mother of humans, the moon, & eggs/womb & might be linked to Onyame (or one in the same). "Nyame" is a short term that often means Onyame or her son Onyankopon. From GOD comes the Kra (human spirit/soul), sometimes from Onyame or Ngame other times from her son Onyankopon. Although, he inherited his mother's Kra. PEACE.
