Just picked up this exact bike for my dad today. Minneapolis here. I wanted it but he’s been talking about e-bikes for years. Stoked

This bike ticked all my boxes. 1) Carries a ton of groceries and my dog, 2) it's pedal assist only, so I can take it on many trails 3) I can get it serviced wherever there's an REI 4) step through--I'm an old gray-haired senior with arthritis 5) relatively cheap -- mine was clearance for $1025.

Thank you for the detailed comment! We actually just posted the review of the 1.2 and we think it's a great ebike!

Can you remove the front rack on the e1.2? Does it still look good without it?

Hello and thank you for watching! The e1.2 is a great all around ebike. It's not the most powerful, has a decent (not big) battery and doesn't have a throttle but it's been fun! and it's backed by REI!!! We're going to work on a review shortly so stay tuned!

How tall are you? I am 6'1" and curious if it'll be a comfortable right at my height.
@Top5ebikes
@Top5ebikes 4 месяца назад
I'm 5-11 which for my height it's comfortable....the frame itself isn't big but you can adjust the handle bars to have a better for your height. I think it should be fine for your height but If you're close to an REI, I'd go in & test ride it. Btw I've seen people taller than you (maybe 6-5) riding this ebike and it didn't seem comfortable.

Hi guys! So nice to have your experience here locally in SB, I also live in Santa Barbara! I'm considering buying a cargo ebike, as my RadCity was stolen a few months ago. I want to be able to carry my young son on the back safely and the RadRunner seems like the best way to do that. No need for a RadWagon.... yet. I'll also be commuting from downtown (Lower Riviera) to Foothill/154 for work(where I can re-charge), with the occasional ride out to Goleta, so I have a few hills to deal with. I was gonna by a RadRunner used, but the pricing on the REI bikes looks nice, when you include the 2 year warranty and adjustments, but there is also the RadPower storefront in town now. It seems like the throttle is the main thing I would be losing. Am I missing anything else? Any suggestions?
@Top5ebikes
@Top5ebikes 11 месяцев назад
RadRunner 2s are only $1299 right now thru Nov 29 which is comparable in price to the E1.2. Something to consider since the RR has a more powerful motor. No gears however which might be an issue if you're carrying your son on your back.

Welcum to rei I luv you
@luigiprovencher

I wouldn't because for one there's no REI around here and for two it took them too long to put it together and if I did buy it from them then I'd just buy it in the box and put it together myself.
@Top5ebikes
@Top5ebikes Год назад
if you don't have a store close to you then the service part (and assembly) doesn't apply...so I get why it doesn't make sense. In that case, direct to consumer or another ebike shop would be your options.

@@Top5ebikes Yeah there's only two Ebike shops around. Aventon and some other shop that I don't know what they have in stock but I'm not really impressed with anything that I see. What I want either doesn't come in my favorite color or type of frame that I'm looking for and isn't powerful enough me. I'm looking for a full suspension step through fat tire Ebike that's powerful and is upgradable/expandable by the user.

2 years of ‘adjustments’ NOT warranty. $1,100 for this bike is just over-priced. No fenders so you’ll be covered with road grime. No lights for night riding? 350w motor and owners reporting it’s underpowered for hills? Can’t imagine trying to start off on a hill with your cargo bike loaded and no throttle. Suggest you show a real world ride with the cargo bike loaded and go take it on some hills. GOOD LUCK WITH THAT. Frankly there are WAY better bikes. Thankfully you can still return it.

Thanks for the comment. This video wasn't specific to the e1.2. That said, If you're looking for a bigger motor or battery for around $1k, you'll find those from many DTC brands or Amazon but you'll also likely get little to no service, battery with unknown cells, and other sub par brands when it comes to components. IMO this ebike is a good option if you're looking for a more natural cycling experience (since there is no throttle), are ok with a bike w. max speed of 20 (believe it or not some of us are ok with this), mostly will ride on flat terrain, service is really important and would like to spend around $1k. It's clear you don't fall into this camp, but there are buyers who don't want a 750/100w motor, 1000 Whr battery, throttle and payload capacity of 400 lbs.
@TheCvp33
@TheCvp33 Год назад
@@Top5ebikes nah, you’re thinking 2 years ago. Nearly all Amazon bikes now have All State 2 year warranties for under $60. There are many with 750w motors, Samsung/LG batteries, 48v systems, fenders, lights, 28mph throttle only speeds and over 200+ 4.5* ratings. No need to settle for REI’s $1,100 bike without fenders, lights, throttle and a 15mph top speed. We can do better.
@Top5ebikes
@Top5ebikes Год назад
@@TheCvp33 It's clear there is a market for these ebikes and they offer value over other offerings. It's also clear not everyone buys their bikes online (either DTC or from Amazon) since there are brick & mortar ebike shops...I also agree today for $1k you can find 1000w (peak) motor w 52v batteries but my point is that not everyone is looking for the fastest or most powerful. This specific ebike is great for someone wanting to cruise around town, wants to peddle and get some help and would like to take into a shop when needed (rathr than dealing w emailing someone and then potentially having to do work themselves).

I don’t get all the negativity. If it’s not for you, leave a thumbs up for the effort, and move on. It’s REI’s bike, not these guys….

Thank for the comment. Apologies. We tried to make it clear (with the title name, in the description and even at the beginning of the video) the video was about purchasing an ebike at REI and not a review of the bike we bought. We've been riding the e1.2 for a bit now and it's a fun ebike. We'll be working on a review shortly.
