I try not to necessarily be "negative" - but having said that, I think if you've worked long and hard to get the money to go on a cruise, you should know what you're buying. No surprised!

NCL does the same with those free at sea dining packages! Not just MSC. You are limited to certain dishes.

I hate that they do that. I can see if they have something special like a seafood tower or a tomahawk steak, but everything else on the menu should be available.

Not sure what you mean, as you even show the text about butchers cut. That is clearly mentioned in the packaged. I understand why you dislike it, but they are not hiding it either. The limited options are hidden a bit, that I do agree with.

I didn’t see the info until I was onboard with the package purchased. It was the first time I’d ever bought a dining package, and it was a surprise not to be able to order from the full menu. I’d never expect something like a tomahawk steak or anything ridiculous, but having the unlimited dining package, the limited menu got redundant!

I can only speak to our experience on multiple MSC sailings - no dining was available to book before boarding and we could not book in the app when we boarded. I’m assuming others had a similar experience, as the line was loooonnnngggg for people to make dining reservations

I have not found any way to book a specific time in. Restaurant before being on board. Not in the app. I was in YC both times and used the consierge desk, that helped a lot, but not before boarding at all. Where did you see that option?

So MSC advertising on their website to buy dining package before cruise to save up to 40% is all a lie? And its better to just walk in?

If you’re going to buy it and it goes on sale, definitely buy it ahead of time. Just know that with the dining packages, the menu is more limited than if you don’t do the package and just lay as you go. And NEVER use a dining package meal at Hola! Tacos - $20 for all you can eat is a bargain!

I wasn't able to purchase anything ahead of time from the app, it is total garbage. I had to call them, it was very smooth but the app seems really pointless. You cannot book anything ahead of time on the app.

We will cruise MSC World Europa in May but not sure book dining package in advance or not? We target Butcher’s cut or Teppanyaki.

The main reason to book in advance is to take advantage of any pre-cruise sales that might be going on. Don't forget - it you're using the dining package, you'll choose from a limited menu, not the whole menu. And there may be an upcharge for Teppanyaki - we paid $10 more on our cruise per person. It may work out better to just pay as you go if you want the full experience!

@@belindatam6772 We went straight to Ocean Cay, but that's where we were directed to go - either there or Teppanyaki. It may vary on your sailing, but just ask right away and they'll steer you in the right direction.

Yes we had the all you can eat specialty dining. If we are in Yacht Club we tend to eat all meals there.

We did indeed pay for the seafood tower - but it was part of the Chef’s Table at Butcher’s Cut. It was delicious and the meal was well worth the price.

Even if you book the Yacht Club you still don’t have access to the full menu. Making the reservations, even in the Yacht Club was chaotic. Hola Taco is cheap enough that you can enjoy it without paying too much. In the Meraviglia, the specialty restaurants are all small and one of them was in the hallway where you have people passing by constantly. They come nowhere close to Royal Caribbean specialty restaurants.

We loved Hola! Taco - and it was a huge value for "specialty" dining. Dining reservations you have to make your first day - we saw so many people turned away or having to take reservations they didn't really want because they booked a specialty dining package and didn't get the reservations immediately. YC didn't make it any easier :-(

My experience in Yacht Club was always that reservation are a grease. Managed reservation for same evening more then once, both on port and sea days. They just make them happen somehow. On our exact time we requested.

We sailed from New York to New England package on the merveglia ( sp?). The food was horrible. Everyone couldn’t wait to get off at the ports to go eat something.. they couldn’t even get oatmeal right.. so disappointing

This is pretty much all lies! They didn’t keep any info from you. You chose not to read what you were getting and now bashing them. It’s all clearly there. It’s also made very clear that booking the specialty restaurants is done on the ship at kiosks or guest relations. Stop all the bashing and lying 🙄

Aren’t we angry? Appreciate you taking the time to watch, could’ve done without the bashing. I don’t think I basked MSC at all - we’ve enjoyed every one of our MSC sailings. But none of this info is clearly spelled out on their website, and it’s easy to overlook or just not know at all. Have a nice day.

I partly agree, as it’s clear beforehand you only get one butchers cut. But the limited options in restaurants were not clear and the fact tepanyaki is ten euros more I did not see beforehand either. Might have missed it, but then it really was fine print somewhere.
