This young guy definitely didn’t have the motivation at a young age. Nor did he find motivation in the army. This is why I tell young guys if you want it you gotta want it. If you think you can think your way into getting something good you’re wrong. If you want to join for a “skill” then you’re in the wrong tree. Definitely need more guys like you out there guiding these young people because most are just naive and uneducated and unprepared. Love what you do for these young guys

The fact that you get that childhood baseline is solid. It tells you a lot about somebody even if they don’t say much about it. I was told by my moms I was always a protector and defended the kids that got picked on or made fun of when I was little even if I got scuffed up too. I ended up being a corpsman and all I do is take care of people now. I love my job and my Marines, even if they’re knuckle heads sometimes lol

I've always been a fitness dude. I took my intensity level to an all time high killing myself in the gym everyday for the past 2 months because I want an 18x contract with the Army. I've made amazing progress on my run and swim times yet I worry cause I have no degree. Growing up for me was the complete opposite from this dude too. Lots of chores, strict parents, dirty work at a ranch, camping and hiking was a normal part of my growing up. Regardless, this entire video has made me rethink everything. With no degree I'm still "rolling the dice" as Jake says. Hate the idea of getting dropped from training due to an injury only to end up doing a job I hate for the next 6 years.

Something is not right with his story. Popping hot and getting out early is almost a guaranteed general under honorable conditions. He saying honorable because is easier to say Honorable than say it was general under honorable condition. This is why he got to keep 70 percent of his GI Bill verses getting the full amount simply because in order to get 100 percent of the GI Bill he must complete the full initial enlistment contract. There is a RE Code as well as separation code on his DD 214. I would almost bet his DD 214 says general discharge under honorable conditions, RE Code of 3. meaning needing a enlistment waiver. and a Separation code of MMD which is a misconduct for THC in his system. This dude never had the right mindset to even enlist because Ranger Battalions has slots for 19Ds. As well as he could have trained to go back to selection for 18 series Special Forces. Special forces recruiting will take all MOSs as long as they can make the cut. Based on his attitude and motivation, he would have not made it as a 11B either, how can a person want to go infantry but not like to camp outside in the woods, That's what 11Bs do. Cavalry Scouts are enemy scouts for artillery and aviation units, they do all the dismount and mounted training. patrols. call for fire. react to contact. and so forth. The army has airborne slots and other elite training for cav scouts too. Now this dude thinks he can be an officer. LET ME SCHOOL SOME PEOPLE. Not every one with a degree is MILITARY leadership mentality. JUST because a person has a degree doesn't mean they can lead men or women in the Military or in combat. its a lifestyle and a certain mentality to do the job(s) no matter the branch of the Armed Forces.

Hey Jake, I just wanted to thank you for the wealth of information you’ve provided through your conversations. I’m older, 35, and have finally gotten the opportunity to enlist. I got into trouble as a young man, and due to the nature, I was not approved to join (about 12 years of trying.) It was my fault for choosing the life I had, and the consequences were severe. With the help of my recruiter, the years of helping others and correcting my path, I was able to get an ETP and, once medical passes, I’ll be shipping out. I’ve passed the APFT with a 300+, the ACFT with a 600+, and an ASVAB of 99th percentile. I was offered an 18x contract, which I will definitely take. I ruck weekly, run daily (though I’m a bit slower than my gazelle compatriots,) and have extensive experience as a strongman and powerlifter. Knowing the struggles others have faced, and speaking with current, former, and recent graduates from my soon-to-be (hopefully) current path (SOCM - 18D), along with your channel, has greatly improved my mindset. Once again, thank you for what you’ve done, what you’re doing, and the nuggets of knowledge jammed into every one of your episodes. It’s invaluable. About this episode: I don’t necessarily thinking leaving college is necessarily a bad idea for those who don’t “fit.” But this gentleman seems to HAVE actually fit better in that environment. He chose a lifestyle in college that fits the college experience, joined for the wrong reasons, and constantly regretted his choice. He never took accountability for his choice, didn’t put in the work to earn his enlistment beforehand, and once enlisted, continued to live the same life he had in college. His information is truly invaluable for those looking to make this leap into a lifestyle completely different than anything he has done previously. This is a great warning for those who are making an ill-informed, rash decision. But hearing this has motivated me to even greater levels, knowing that I left that life behind of my own free will, to train hard, even with the weight of rejection ever present in mind. To be given the opportunity to enlist, after all these years, is such an honor. One that I will not disrespect, dishonor, or neglect.

So basically he had a privileged childhood so off the rip hes already at a disadvantage he's been pampered through out his life. Most SF soldiers had rough childhoods and trauma which = overcoming adversity no matter what. for some reason its hard for me to see privileged people with pampered childhoods make it into elite unts does it happen occasionally? Sure but I truly believe someone who came from the dirt bottom will always have an advantage over a privileged person.

In the Mess Hall we could not eat desserts, and sodas was forbidden. We were allowed milk, water, and one glass of juice. The DI's were yelling and screaming so we had to gobble down the food and rush out of the Mess Hall. During Basic and AIT we were not allowed to buy candy, chips, or sodas from the PX of the Running Chef "Gut Truck". At the end of Basic and AI I dropped 24 pounds. My Weight was 160 pounds. I was Fit and Trim. The Military is to soft today on Recruits from when I was in. During my time, the DI's ran the Dog Mess out of us. If he still had 70 percent of his gi bill after 5 years of service, he should have all of it right? I used mine for a bachelors. I was infantry my whole career so I definitely used the gi bill. But I thought to get your whole gi bill all you had to serve was 36 months of active duty? I'm no expert though so I could be wrong

Howdy Sir! I think you titled this video appropriately. Honestly it seems like the interviewee wasn't really sure of what he wanted to do, even after he started his military career. He could've very easily moved around to another MOS or unit for that matter to find a more nurturing environment. Even after the fact he could've trained up then dropped a packet for Special Forces if he so chose. For him to say he got absolutely nothing from his career in the Military shows a lack of engagement on his part. There's tons of things he could've gotten from his career besides the primary being job satisfaction. Lifelong Friends, the different benefits, training on unique equipment/weapons, discipline; the list goes on. Honestly it sounds like he wouldn't have been a viable officer candidate anyway. Maybe you should change the title to "How not to join the Military".

I guess the army has changed since I joined up. I went OCS after getting a degree. We ran everyday in basic. The DIs kept a log of our running times. After I made the decision of joining up, I had a football player help me with running etc. To succeed you have to be ready mentally and physically. OCS is no cake walk. We had a high attrition rate including 1 attempted suicide.

@JohnDoe-fg9ng
@JohnDoe-fg9ng 2 года назад
It is one pound of dry pasta (one dry 1lb box), you are also supposed to put something like ground beef over it too. This is just approximate, you may have to adjust more or less to get enough calories for your workouts.
