The reason they dont have crazy hair because they represent a typical “ boy next door” image that you can relate to who wears clothes like us and looks normal like any other teen. And if one person was highlighted as mentioned by you, then it would look like that one person is more important in a group and that can come across as being biased especially when its a debut. So, they went with the boy next door image with individual charm of some being outspoken, some being shy and some being flirtatious.. I hope this helps you understand their concept.

I may be super cheesy but I can't help but smile when watching them perform. Much needed with all of the dark boy band concepts lately.

It's a shame how people expect such ground breaking, weird sounding noise songs(which I eat up all the time) that they cant appreciate nice easy listens anymore, BoyNextDoor is really doin it for me, nothing too crazy but enough for them to stand out in between these "manly man" concepts lol. They're cute and talented what more could anyone need? (and this is not to discredit anyone else's opinion bc at the end of the day everyone has their own taste, im just ranting on lmao)

the concept is quite literally boy next door. i understand a lot of the points you made in the video even if i don't necessarily agree but their concept is just boys who live next door, i'm assuming school friends ? navigating through life with silly little crushes. ( also they all realized they liked the same girl in the first mv but before that they had no idea, i do agree the fact that they weren't fighting and trying to oneup eachother was a lil unrealistic but they are also friends so i dunno) they wanted their music to be relatable as well as their concept to the youth. it would have been cool if they all had crazy diff aesthetics i agree but at the same time their concept is just normal young boys falling in love and going through life, they don't want them to appear like idols just regular boys. i think as time goes by their concept probably will shift more but for now they're lighthearted, bubbly and chill and insanely vibey. i love that they didn't try to make one member stick out bcs that's been an ongoing issue lately with other groups. i'm excited to see them progress more in the future but i have to say I LOVE every bit of their music so far esp the fact that they themselves worked on it.

i get what you mean about their styling not feeling very individualized, but i feel like their individualism comes across in their faces, singing, acting, and mannerisms. you can tell right away that leehan is the soft-voiced sweet boy, and woonhak is the cute maknae. + i like that their styling is simple. it convinces me they could really be the boys next door.

Thanks for the great reaction! I myself quite love boynextdoors energy, and I feel like its a nice step back from everything else you see in kpop. They're a lighthearted, fun group with a youthful cheery vibe and although its definitely not for everyone, Its something the industry needed. I cant wait to see what we get from them in the future! (also the one you said has more powerful like dancing is Jaehyun whereas the one whos more smooth with a bit of hip is leehan!)

I like how Jaehyun said Serenade (the song at least) was inspired by his parent’s love story. I do get your point about how it felt more confusing having all of them liking the same girl. But I think because I knew the song was made with a specific story in mind I looked at the video as them just singing a love song from the perspective of the person in love and a storyline is happening around them if that makes since. Which is why the girl never really interacts with them because it is like the six of them represent the one person that is love and is just singing about that person’s feelings rather than them all hitting on the same girl. Or at least that’s how I interpreted it.

love your appreciation for leehan's dance skills!!!! they all are good at dancing tbh, but riwoo and leehan have such a smooth and fresh way of dancing, it's just amazing and it suits them so well

ahh tysm for reacting to BND!! the one who stood out to you and that you called “my guy” in the dance practices is Leehan (my bias hehe). This is actually what he said regarding dancing in their debut interview for weverse magazine: “I learned to dance at the academy for the first time, and I honestly think I'm a terrible dancer. (laughs) I thought that I was standing at a completely different starting point from the other members. It wasn’t going to work if I didn’t do anything about it, so I drew up a timetable. I’d get about six hours that I can block out for dance practice when I go to the dance academy after school, but I thought so much time got wasted without a plan. I made a timetable like, “1 to 2 p.m. - dance lesson, 2:30 to 3 p.m. - lesson review, 3 to 3:30 p.m. - video record my practice dances.” I got the best results when I didn’t waste any time and used every minute to the fullest. I set a goal, and there was no need to think about anything else. I just went ahead and practiced even if I got tired”. Still blows my mind he thinks he’s a terrible dancer lol

I think how its going now appearance wise is actually really good, theyre still really young and even though theyre filming in LA they have like the causual korean look. (Not derogatory) theyre dressed casually so i can see why you wish there was more individualaity. i think we've just gotten a little too used to groups changing and ruining their hair for every comback yknow, its nice to have it where we can genuinley just use it as a motive to notice things about them and learn em through that. "he's a good dancer as well" 20:04 the guy with the white pants you pointed out in the dance practice and the one who did the high kick is riwoo and he's the main dancer! he grew up taking dance lessons and he's been dancing for years. it's one of the things that influenced him in becoming an idol. the members also pointed out how he's really good at dancing and his weverse magazine interview also highlights that skill as well. other than being a talented dancer, his vocals are impressive as well!

I'm just getting into BOYNEXTDOOR now, after seeing tons of cute videos of the members around on social media. I'm in my mid 30s so debut boy groups always feel dicey to me to get into as a fan because it's hard to feel like I'm relating to songs without feeling like a pedo, but this hits just the right note of bright youthful charm but for me it's so NOSTALGIC, approachable and conversational. It feels like I'm watching a fun and INTERESTING teen romcom and missing these moments of youth that at the moment were so world ending embarrassing but now are fond memories. I enjoy this concept and I think their styling and hair kind of HAVE to be like this or it rings too produced. I think eventually they will transition to different and more adult variations of "approachable hero" as they grow up, but for their age this hits just a really perfect note for me. Cute concepts are hard for me, but they really nailed "bright but not overly cutesy"

I totally get what ur saying about adding some base to the songs. I think thats why i liked one and only more than the other songs. I havent seen much from them yet and hadnt even seen the dance practices yet, but u definitely made some good points and im actually kind of excited to see if they can do even more in the future. their music reminds me of something that could be on the soundtrack for juno, especially something like serenade. opening to a coming of age movie vibes! i wish the songs were all longer but i'm enjoying the tunes. refreshing and fun! ATBO released a song called next to me recently that's kinda in this atmosphere but a litttttle more 90s feeling with a bit of brass. feel good bops. i'm glad we're getting like, actual melodies from boy groups tho lol.

I feel like I get what you're saying but their name is legit boynextdoor so I guess thematic and styling wise for their debut especially would be bright, wholesome, cheery, sweet kinda cookie cutter boy next door vibes. So it makes sense but it's def not going to necessarily be everyones taste. Also I feel like they might hesitate to make any one member like the lead, to kinda avoid a this person is the main and friends dynamic that can sometime arise in Kpop. So I feel like the critique is valid but I also get some of the choices the made. Only thing I was laughing at was them saying snatch-ED lol but after a while I got over it ^_^

In my opinion, using just one girl is a cool idea and more easier to understand the story, it could be a bit messy if they had 6 girls for each of them. Maybe it just a methapor or something. This kind remind me of Seventeen's Very Nice where they all just fell in love with the same girl. Not trying to compare tho, just an example. Meanwhile having only one member to like the girl and the other just supporting him, nah, it feels like a usual cliche storyline and it's pretty common in kpop so it wouldn't look creative anymore.

Love this group There energy is great and charisma,… the dancing is on point … the singing is beautiful… refreshing and the video is great … I completely understood the concept and … well I just love music in general and this is smooth and not in your face …. I think it was done right …. Don’t always need flashiness…

Their whole concept is being different versions of 'the boy next door', so they each have their own motifs and personality almost- like a dating sim! That's why they are all after the same girl, its meant to give reverse harem sorta vibes lol

I definitely vibe more with the dance practices, you can see more personality for sure. I like the fun, goofiness in the dance practice combined with really good dancing. I like that they are totally different from TxT and Enhypen in style. But the concept does seem to be similar to New Jeans, but in a boy group.

He is famous for his smile and his facial expression🤣 2. The one in the blue jacket is leehan and he has a bboying background so no wonder his footwork is so light. 3. Myung jaehyun is the one with white shirt, you said he has hiphop street training thats true because he is a former YG trainee which is famous for its hiphop so thats why he has a hiphop vibe/groove

I get what you’re saying about wanting to individualize the members. At some points it seems like they’re a group of friends coaching each other through relationship woes, and at others it seems like they’re all one singular boy in love. They had a trailer and some intro art before the music videos started dropping that I think helped establish their personalities more. It gave a little info about hobbies, interests, and individual character scenes. Plus I think they’re voices and faces are easy to tell apart even on a first watch I actually was surprised and enjoyed the acting! It was the storyline that made it feel a bit less genuine to me. The contrast between the fun songs and the very normal neighborhood was amusing to me, but I totally get suburbia not being everyone’s favorite concept I think the two dancers you pointed out were Jaehyun (rapper, clean and strong dancer) and Leehan (vocalist, relaxed and hip-hop style)

I don’t the world needs more 808, nothing against 808, but it is hardly underrated. ;). I like the variety of sound they are going for, but I love Zico, and I can see his hand in this, and he likes to experiment with styles a lot.

She also has dancing skills, which is hard to tell in the MV, but it goes without saying when you watch her dance practice. It's still a little unknown at the moment, but I have a feeling it will gradually become a big fandom. I know what you're disappointed about, but I don't think it's going to change because this group was created with this kind of atmosphere. Recently, the Kpop market in Korea is trying to create a boy group that produces easy- listening songs like newjeans (ex)riize,tws) The boy next door is similar to that and maybe it's not a taste for anyone who wants a hard performance. It's awkward because I used translator, but I'm Korean, so I wanted to tell you the boy group trend that's changing in Korea. Anyway I love your reaction videos!

Don't expect them to act in the mv as they really are, it's all acted, and all the artists do it, when it's a song with a female (or male) protagonist, not only one stands out, but they try to make you believe/see/interpret as that they are all one and if they wanted to demonstrate a rivalry for the girl (or boy) be sure they would show it either in the lyrics, expressions, clothing style etc. the people who created their mvs know what they wanted to convey, It seems like you just don't like them and that's fine, but wanting to change them so that you like them seems too much to me. It's not your style of mv/music and that's perfect, they are a calm group, easy to listen to and see, easy to interpret, bearable and above all identifying, I love their style and simplicity, for What I don't think they should change is anything, what you criticize is what makes me love them, they are unique and that makes them special and makes you want to love them.

the serenade mv reminds be of bigbangs bad boy and wow the difference is huge, watching that mv after your reaction gave me a whole new perspctive, in bigbangs mv they all look and sound dfferent but its still cohesive so i think thats something i hope to see brought out in boynextdoors comeback hopefully

I gave all three songs three chances and it was a miss for me. That may be partly due to my preconceived notion (based it being Zico's company) that BND might be a group with an incredible rap line. Given what I've read here, it sounds like Zico is trying to make his company a place for artists to be creative rather than direct them which is nice for the artists. However, Kpop is a saturated market, so I needed at least one member to really catch my attention. Perhaps the styling played a role in my feeling like they were indistinguishable. There wasn't anything wrong with their debut, but there also wasn't anything outstanding enough to make me want to give their songs a fourth go. Depending on how many songs drop around the time they have a comeback, I may give them another try (because I like Zico).
