We were recently in London and had the great opportunity of digging a bit more in British horology history by meeting Richard Stenning (watchmaker, historian and co-owner of Charles Frodsham) with whom we spent a lovely afternoon talking about so many things we love!
But this naturally didn't stop there as the brand recently introduced their first wristwatch featuring an incredible intricate regulating organ, an overall beautiful movement and all is built in-house, from the case to all other component and the level of finishing is all the way up there.
Enjoy & Viva Watchmaking!!

As a watchmaker, I must say this may be your very best episode of all. Outstanding, please continue with your excellent work maintaining passion for horology, it’s history, and the developments that are being realized through technology. Technological application can enhance our lives and in horology permit the use of a George Daniels escapement that has not ever been in a wrist watch.

I like design of the watch and the movement. Movement doesn't have some fancy finish, needed for Geneva seal, but it's design seems to have more technological, scientific approach to watchmaking. Movement looks like some prototype chronometer, made for chronometer competition.

I read somewhere that Daniels gave them the escapement because he said it wouldn't work in a wristwatch. The clearances of the escapement and the tenuous locking must all be extremely close so IMHO it's an amazing achievement if they are now making wristwatches in numbers.
@WATCHESTVcom
@WATCHESTVcom 4 года назад
Well the notion of numbers is quite relative, 12 pieces a year ;) but it's also true that technology has evolved in the meantime and made this more feasible. Thanks for your comment and all the best to you

This is most likely due to the division that results from having two independent gear trains and escape wheels. Given that one train is locked while the other is moving, the seconds hand, as a result, would most likely move at half the total beat rate. Fascinating.

I watched a talk by George Daniels where he talks about the escapement used in this watch. Quite insightful. He explains how it works with his own animation, but also doesn't seem to speak that highly of the movement. Maybe he was just being modest. It's at around 22 mins into this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0UOU36cJgZY.html
