Episode 104 - First off, I'm tagged out and got my buck on opening day of the Michigan archery season.
Then we're off to northern Baraga County for an all-day fall ATV wilderness adventure to 10 waterfalls and the top of Mount Arvon.
Richard P. Smith released the third edition of his book "Understanding Michigan Black Bear" and I sat down with him to talk about the new chapters.

I was fortunate to get to know Carl T. Johnson before he passed. He also wrote a great book about bear hunting in Michigan. Good story, and great video!

Congratulations on your buck! What a fine deer! I live in SWFL and I smiled when one young lady said how hot the sun was for the end of September. I am waiting for Hurricane Milton to arrive in 2 days with dreams of the U.P. dancing in my heart and soul. Thank you for all your hard work and in sharing the U.P. with us. God bless.

I have pics of cinnamon phase bears on trail cam, also the bears are so out of control now it’s getting a bit ridiculous. Between them and the wolves none of the does have fawns left in one area I hunt.

I would love to see a color phase bear in real life. And yes, we have a lot of bears out there now. Sad to hear the fawns didn't make it in your area.

It's only a few short years before side by sides destroy the U.P. the way they have in the northern lower. Barely have any wilderness left around here, just the sound of roaring engines all around my home north of Kalkaska. Sad
