Im glad you are discovering more kpop music. The first song 'into the new world' is quite old dated back in 2007 i think. Thats why they all look like babies. The main vocals were Taeyong and Jessica. And in 2014 Jessica left the group and GG popularity hasnt been the same with only 8 girls. Ever since Jessica left, SM entertainment has been blocking her for getting on any shows or Tv or radios. But as now in year 2022 May, after 8 years Jessica left, She is back on stage ! OMG YEAHHH They literally have everything. I don't wanna offend anyone but *at least* half of them could be main vocalists and main dancers in any other group. Their confidence and stage presence is another level. I strongly recommend 'Into The New World [Girls & Peace] in Seoul' and Into The New World Ballad version (preferably Tokyo Dome concert). They're my ults along with SHINee. SNSD is finally coming back this year for their 15th anniversary so I'm so excited :)
They really could tbh. Sunny, Tiffany, Seohyun would all be considered main vocalists in any other group. (besides like maybe Mammamoo) And even Yuri and Sooyoung could be main vocalists for 4th gen standards in some groups.
Yup it's because SNSD is made up of 5 trained vocalists (Taeyeon, Jessica, Seohyun, Tiffany and Sunny) and 4 trained dancers (Hyoyeon, Yuri, Sooyoung and Yoona), meaning SNSD members are respected for their own talent in dancing or singing in addition to their looks. Yoona may be more known as a visual but holds her own as a lead dancer and people are aware of it. Nowadays, many idols are just given the specific role of visual or sub-vocalist or sub-rapper or dancer and don't hold their own in terms of talent. Even many new gen main vocalists and dancers are barely on par with the least skilled vocalist/dancer of SNSD. MANY (not all) new gen idols are more about visual (unattainable beauty standards) and visually appealing stage/performance with no actual substance and no focus on the music itself.
@@chronorogue863 Honestly 2nd Gen Idols in general are in a different level compared to the new gens. 2nd Gen Idols talent are just insanely good the only new gens that could rival them are Red Velvet, Mamamoo, Aespa, and Stayc but even then they wouldn't stand out against 2nd gen Idols. SNSD, 2ne1, Apink, Wonder Girls, Spica, Sistar, Miss A, Afterschool, AOA, KARA, T-ara, BEG, and more could wipe all new gens out when it comes to their vocals and dance superiority.
They are coming back after 5 years of hiatus! On August, they will celebrate their 15th anniversary and they will release an album. Hope you will react to more Girls' Generation videos and more solo stuff from them. 💗
Girl's Generation was so commanding that other groups would push back releases if they got wind that the girls were putting something out, true powerhouses and i'm glad you reacted to them. Kim Taeyeon and Tiffany Young both have solo albums worth looking into, and they were also part of a subunit called TaeTiSeo (Seohyun being the third member) that had a few releases. The main dancer Hyo(yeon) also has a bunch of solo work.
They are the one and only Nation's girl Group, GGs name them the Textbook for all girl Groups. Their debut song is so powerful that it has been used in many protests, and before GGs can debut, they have to perform their song first.
None of the newer generations of girl groups has the sexier/sensual style. First they are so young when they debut and kpop has become very conservative over the years. 2nd gen is the golden era of kpop for a reason! I really love the 2nd gen girl groups just because they were all confident grown women and not little girls (some obv debuted younger but most were pretty much adults). SNSD isn't just women! They're every 3rd and 4th generation girl groups inspiration for being Kpop artists! Their comeback after so many girl groups have debut since 2017 is historic in its own rights! You should check out Tiffany Young's solo music, such as Run For Your Life and Magnetic Moon too ---- VERY different from this bubblegum pop and possibly an influence on their upcoming comeback!
I got into GG last year and I'm very impressed with how good all their music is - from the cuter concepts such as Gee to tracks like You Think which are more hard hitting. Can't wait for their August comeback!

"You Think" is probably one of my favorite SNSD songs. You were still stuck on Yuri in the beginning and I was like "Honey, you haven't even seen Seohyun's split yet!!" Hyoyeon was so underrated at the time but is finally getting her moment. Props to you for acknowledging her talent immediately in "Into The New World" 15/10 - Will watch this again

Before anyone else, girls generation is my ultimate group, my first love. They are the first group who got me into kpop, back in 2014. The first song ( into the new world) is they're debut song, that time kpop industry are dominated by boy group. Knetz think that girl group is not that interesting compared to boy group, but then Girls generation change their mind. Korean netizen named girls generation as "Nations girl group" and into the new world is like an anthem in south korea. Many girl groups in different generation do covers of that song and all korean know that song. They were idol of idols, they literally paved the way to kpop gg. Into The New World is about women of this age (Girl’s Generation) being diverse, opening doors and creating a new world where women are respected and empowered. True enough, they are the pioneers of Korean Wave across the world. Genie is a very popular song. This is the original Korea's National Girl Group. Practically rules kpop during their heydays. Starting as 9 and continuing as 8 after Jessica left. Some of them branches out now as artists, DJ, model, brand ambassador and Soloist.
Kim Taeyeon - The oldest and the leader of the group. One of the best vocalists of her generation or probably the next generations to come. You don't need much to say when it comes to her. She's IT. Seo Ju Hyun - the youngest - the Main Harmonizer of the group. I'm in love with her disciplined life and her outlook in life. She's seriously much more than just your typical wonderful idol. The Blue House and even North Korea loves her. And the girl who keeps on doing the high notes for 'You're not!' These two were my top biases but once you've gotten hooked into the group, watched tons of videos, documentaries and interviews - YOU CANNOT, LIKE CANNOT ESCAPE THEIR CLUTCHES. All of them can dance, can sing, can compose, can choreograph, can act, have humorous attitudes, have different distinct personalities. They're just - man, my vocabulary's dead.
You Think came out in 2015 almost one yr before BlackPink’s debut. 4minute’s (Hyuna’s disbanded group) Crazy and You Think to me marked the transition to Kpop’s current girl crush era. (2NE1 had been doing a different kind of GC but the GC we know today) And less and less girls groups wore heels in performances. Im sure GGs are thankful that boots replaced heels lol

Mr.mr. is known infamously as the second worst snsd mv, apparently the footage got corrupted about 48 to 24 hours before launch. I got a boy is the worst song for a first time reaction, especially by its self. People who ask for it are looking for the "wtf is this song" reaction. I hope one day, you look at it again and see it with a different light after getting to know the group more.

SNSD is my childhood! I became a SONE (SNSD fan) in 2007, with Into The New World. This song it’s a National Anthem, it is still used in rallies, parades, political protests and even at the border with North Korea, it’s such a powerful song. Girls Generation debuted during a time when Kpop was fully dominated by boy groups, and they were given that name, because they were given the task to create a new generation, one with many amazing girl groups. These women took that task to heart, and ignited an amazing generation of powerful girl groups and shaped the future for the entire industry. They are the definition of EMPOWERMENT! I just saw part2 and I was like so there is a part1? like, have you heard "Into the new world" or not? cause this song is iconic for me I knew Kpop in 2018, however, this song has really stuck with me and I loved the way they sang it especially live in their concerts it is amazing and I can understand the impact of it on Koreans in general and the music industry and how Kpop groups still cover it to this day.

The first song you reacted to, Into The New World, is their debut song, came out in 2007. They were all very young back then, 16 to 18 years old. Ofc, they looked cute, fresh and natural but at the same time they were powerful af. The song imo, is about how they were going to jump from being trainees into this whole new world as idols. How everything would be harder and rougher but they will survive till the end, together as a unified team. The 2nd song, Genie, came out in 2009 and was not originally a jazz song, in this reaction, they sung it in their 2015 concert. They were already 8 years into their wonderful carreer and were on top of everyone in the industry. They have stage presence like no other groups. You'll see. The 3rd song, Mr.Mr, came out in 2014, a turbulent year for them. I'll just say the music video is nothing compared to the stage performances. Check them out so you won't miss how majestic the dance to that song actually is. The 4th song, You Think, came out in 2015. One of their triple title tracks. It's one of my favorite songs. In the song you'll find they're screaming at you : 'You think you're cool, YOU'RE NOT !!'. I can't help but think yeah, ofc they are right. Who's going to go against them and won ? The first song, In To The New World, is the National Anthem of girlgroups. Mostly during training for girlgroups they cover other girlgroup songs/dances, and In To The New World is the song that every girlgroup must know, it is the standard performance for girlgroups and Girl's Generation is the National Girlgrouo. Especially for vocals, if you must know how to sing it.
Yessssss Mr. Mr. Is my absolute favorite title track ( and its really difficult picking a favorite). The key changes during the bridge gets me every time. It's a treat to watch the live stages just to hear the bridge again and again. Since you like "You Think" so much, definitely would recommend "Catch Me if You Can", and "The Boys". But the real gems would be in their Japanese discography. TBH can't go wrong with any approach to it. Their comeback is in august!

The best way to describe Taeyeon's voice is deceptive lol. She sounds so sweet and angelic on Jonghyun, Key and Taemin's tracks but that girl can belt. Her voice has a lot of power. I'm sure you will discover that eventually. But yeah, snsd has so many great vocalists it's a pleasure listening to them

Gee was the first kpop dance I ever learned loll oh, the memories... And Into the New World is basically an anthem, like I'm not even Korean and I get emotional when I hear it T_T SNSD will always have a special place in my heart, they've got those songs that immediately take me back every time I hear them
Also it's so wilddd hearing people describe SNSD's style as unique, b/c for so long they were THE definitive girl group, their style of singing and dancing is what you thought of when you thought of girl groups. So crazy that things have changed so much.
The reason why people say GG and 2nd gen is the golden era of music is because artist were not stuck within a 'concept' or 'genre' unlike these days. There's no versatility and fun if all your message is stuck with the same message. GG discography 'Baby Baby' to 'You Think' is a beautiful and humane step in growing as an artist.
They were trailblazers in many ways. 'Into The New World' is very iconic to most female kpop idols and girl groups today, and at least a couple of times a bunch of female idols from many groups/coumpanies would unite (like a big collab) to perform it on stage. The song has a lot of sentimental value in kpop. I'm not even a fan of them and I'm just familiar with a few members, but even I know many of their songs (my favourite is "You Think") and I really respect them as a group. They were also part of kpop becoming more globally well-known during 2nd gen. I also know they've done some interesting and diverse concepts, especially when it comes to female empowerment songs. I appreciate their empowerment of women concepts, while not seeing/presenting that as a rejection of femininity or cutesy style, at least from what I see of their songs and MVs. It's somewhat rare to see equality for females presented in a soft feminine way (like how they do traditionally male-dominated jobs in "Into The New World" like mechanic or pilot) but still emphasise these pretty visuals. Not that presenting in a masculine way isn't just as valid or can't be just as empowering, just an interesting note.
