I like how Viva lets his grey show. He's not much older than I am which is weird because I have no grey hair yet. Really wish I did though. One day I guess.
I've lived in that area since a kid. I also used to be a freight train conductor and took many trains up and down those tracks in Harper's ferry. Beautiful area!!!
@@roxdarmurray6634 there's 2 intersecting subdivisions that intersect right before they tunnel Viva showed towards the beginning. The dual set of tracks is the metropolitan subdivision and will take you directly to Union station in Washington DC. I can't remember the name of the subdivision that goes through historic Harper's ferry but that's the single track elevated through Harper's ferry. That subdivision ends in Strausburg VA or close to it.
Beautiful views. My 70 year old 😎 recently complained a multi dat bike ride that ended in Harpers Ferry the pictures he took along the trail there were awesome. He’s ridden across the U.S. twice and is always doing multi day rides in the South but recently did the Erie Canal ride, recently he’s gone to a pedal assist bike but there’s no slowing him down.
Saw your previous Harpers Ferry video. HF is fantastic. Been there four times & will certainly go again. Where else can one go - in the Mid-Atlantic to find scenery that is both historic & breathtakingly beautiful. Thanks for the video. Thanks for all your videos & podcasts. Much appreciated. JSt
David, thanks for showcasing the MD, VA, WV area, This is where I grew up. It's still beautiful country! When you say America, this is what I think of! I'm glad you had an opportunity to experience it!
My beautiful daughter lives just to the right of the town as you're looking down from that trail. She doesn't count in the population total because she lives outside the town limits. Beautiful country to hike!
Thank you so much for this Viva. I spent the first 35 years of my life in that area, and have been really home sick for the weather and scenery. I felt as if I were there for a moment. I could smell the vines on the tree. Safe travels to you.
hey if you would have taken to trail to georgia...i'd pick you up--🤣😂🤣😂 you do the same thing i do...try to imagine myself there during the war between the states
I can't look at that foliage and not ask, "But how many chiggers and ticks are there?" In Arkansas, we might be leaving the worst of tick season when the small ones are blowing everywhere from the trees, but chiggers are full-time in the summer. Depending on how yummy as an individual you are, you need every inch of clothed skin sprayed. No idea if the Appalachians are the same with chiggers.
Oh my gosh, what gorgeous country! I've always had a soft spot for mountains, perhaps because I grew up in rather flat country. But I have family that lived in the mountains of Arkansas, which this reminds me of. Thank you for taking us along, David!
So I was going to say, "Don't run on the trail, you might fall!" when you mentioned what mother's say, but it looks like you learned that. Maybe. Beautiful area, glad you took us along.
VIVA…THANK YOU!!! For your wonderful EXCITEMENT discovering America,it’s a JOY to see. For an elderly shut in, I’m reliving a wonderful life in years gone by. Welcome to America, we’re so glad you and your family are here 😇❤🙏
In addition to the historical context Harpers Ferry is a well known spot for us rail enthusiast types. Certainly the perfect time of year for a sight seeing hike.
Thank You Viva!! Absolutely stunning!! & interesting!! Glad I’m old enough to finally appreciate history! A bit too strenuous of a hike for me! Always listen to your mother!!!
Should stop by Belfast maine on your way back you can see fort knox old Civil War fort and a haunted/cursed witch trail judge grave stone all in 1 trip
Remember for next time: when in the Appalachian mountains, if you hear your name called or whistles or babies crying, no you didn't and just keep moving calmly but quickly! 😁
Oh WOW, thanks for that Viva ! I went to kindergarten in Maryland 60 years ago while my Father worked on a pipeline job there that year. I remember it being soo beautiful as a child. Living in BC is similar but the weather is very different. Always wanted to return .. maybe you could do further Vid's from the area?

My son introduced me to a group called "The Steeldrivers", with a song called "Sticks That Made Thunder". It's about the trees' memories of the Civil War. Still makes me tear-up when I listen to it.
I was hoping to see the trail. Because the title of your video says your video is about the trail. But instead I just found myself staring at your face for almost 10 minutes. You should have titled the video: "look at my face while I'm talking for 10 minutes"
