Join me as I review the SvBony SV705c planetary astrophotography camera in this two-part series. In this first episode, I'll be introducing you to the camera and its specs, sharing my first impressions after using it for a few nights, and discussing a minor color issue that I encountered.
Stay tuned for the second part of the review where I'll be sharing the results of SvBony's update that aims to resolve this issue. Whether you're an experienced astrophotographer or just starting out, this video should give you an overview of the SvBony SV705c camera and help you to get first ideas about it!

I think it was fixed. Also some good news - camera works perfect with FireCapture now!

I finally found a video that provided the information on this camera that I was looking for and at a pace that was very easy to follow. Thank you for not discussing everything at freight train speed! One question, the audio on my computer is not as clear as I would like it to be so I missed the part about what you used to stack the moon images. Would you please tell me exactly what you used for that because my stacking programs will not stack anything that does not contain a bunch of stars. Thank you and have a nice day.

Thank you! I use PixInsight for stacking deep sky images and AutoStakkert! for stacking images of Moon / planets.

Thank you. One question, what software did you use with this camera for imaging? I have sv305c, which gives ungodly horizontal stripes acriss the screen in NINA. Ordered sv705 after watching your video :) Cheers!
@AstroCreation
@AstroCreation 25 дней назад
I would mostly use FireCapture, but SharpCap recenly started working better than it had been.

@@AstroCreation my 705c arrived and saw the first light yesterday. Works much better than 305c. The problem is that achieving a good focus with sct 6se is a bit of a challenge, and as my other rig is asiair-centered, I need to build a decent software suite to serve my Celestron. Challenges are everywhere :) Cheers!

A nice review. ❤ I wonder whether any filter is required for improving images from this camera.
@AstroCreation
@AstroCreation Год назад
Thanks! I would not say a filter is required, but you can use some filters for specific purposes. When capturing deep sky, you might want to use Optolong L-Pro filter to reduce the amount of light pollution. The sensor of this camera is really sensitive in the near infrared spectrum, so you may use IR-pass filters when capturing Venus (this is what I am actually planning to do to see whether I can catch any additional details in the planet's atmosphere). UV-pass filter can be also helpful when capturing Venus.

Hello, may I ask for what Gain Worked better for you when imaging DSO on this camera? Thanks
@AstroCreation
@AstroCreation 8 месяцев назад
Hello! I am sorry for the delay with my response. I have been extremely busy lately, but I am getting back "online"! When I captured DSO using this camera in winter 2023, I mostly used gain 100 with the camera. I haven't captured DSO with this camera since then though.

Isn't it a big downside that it does not have a "cooled" variant? Would it be possible to use it in the summe with 30 degrees / 86 fahrenheit with best image quality?
@AstroCreation
@AstroCreation 8 месяцев назад
When it comes to planetary imaging, it is not an issue because you capture thousands of frames at really short exposure time. There is no thermal noise after stacking. If you do deep sky with this camera, then, yes, it would be better to have a cooled camera to reduce the amount of noise.

do you still recommend this camera?
@AstroCreation
@AstroCreation 8 месяцев назад
Hi there! I am sorry for the delay with my response. I have been extremely busy lately, but I am getting back "online"! I was imaging using this camera in November and December last year, and I actually got some nice planetary images using it. In addition, my favorite FireCapture app fully supports this camera, so if you're interested in getting a camera specifically with IMX 585 sensor, you might want to consider getting it due to a bit lower price.

@@AstroCreation I have a SVBony SV503 80ED refractor. I've put together a raspberry pi controller running indigosky for mount control / imaging / guiding. I'll be sitting in the car controlling everything with my macbook. It all works well indoors. But I need to try it outside and find out what i've missed. I'm doing wide field DSO imaging. I don't have enough focal length for planetary. I might try to pick up a newtonian reflector
@AstroCreation
@AstroCreation 8 месяцев назад
@@greggreaves1727with you luck! Controlling our sequence with a raspberry pi computer sounds interesting. It is something I have never tried before! I think everything will work out great since you've done some tests indoors. Clear skies! P.S. You can try lunar imaging with 2-3x Barlow Lens. I think you might get some nice results too!

@@AstroCreation I am quite interested in hearing about the software update for the color issue. Also, one thing you could look into is the M42 to CS adapter with the camera. Me and some others have had problems with it not seeming to be correctly made for having CS lenses attached ot it being able to reach focus. The adapter seems to be a few tenths of a millimeter too thick, so the camera lens ends up too far way from the sensor.

I know they released an update in May that fixed banding in SV605MC camera. I am sure 705c performs much better now, but I haven't played with this camera for a while to be honest. I'll get back to it this summer and for the upcoming planetary season, I guess.
