Discovering the Lost Arab Village of Hittin

Some 400 villages were destroyed during the War for Jewish independence. In 1948, the Palestinians of the village of Hittin, in the Galilee region not far from Nazareth, fled and the town was later razed. Only the minaret and the mosque compound remains. According to tradition, it was built by Saladin after the decisive victory over the Crusaders in 1187 in the nearby Horns of Hattin.

This is my grandfather's village. He lived there before the war started and then became a refugee
