Join us on an exclusive early ride through OC Transpo's Eastern Extension of O-Train Line 1 and 3, as we travel from Blair to Trim Station. In this immersive simulation experience at OC Transpo's operator's training centre, we take the controls of the Alstom Citadis Spirit simulator and learn about the basic operations, scenarios, and controls of this modern light rail vehicle.
Experience the full journey from Blair to Trim Station, serving all the new stations into Orleans, with insightful commentary and expert instruction from Opinder Sadana, Rail Instructor at OC Transpo.
The state-of-the-art simulator can simulate a wide range of training scenarios, from winter storms, intrusions onto the track and guideway, to emergencies and more. See how OC Transpo prepares its operators for any situation, ensuring the safety and reliability of the O-Train service.
The journey continues in our video heading West. Experience the trip from Tunney's Pasture to Moodie and Lincoln Fields to Algonquin: • Discovering the O-Trai...

Saw the first train go all the way to Trim while testing, very excited for this extension!

We are really much looking forward to increased testing and are hopeful the line will open in Early 2025! Fingers crossed!

Second report of a train going all the way to Trim Station - rails and electrical would appear to be working - now just need to get the stations squared away

That stretch is only max 80km/hr??? but it's a straight line..

I was going to say exactly this

Considering the train is supposedly rated for 105km/h max, it's disappointing that it's only 80.

The speed in the simulator might not be the final speed in real life. They have yet to run a train end to end at any decent speed, so perhaps with the testing it may be faster and the simulator is being conservative on the speeds. I would suggest not taking the top speed in the sim as being the definitive top speed in real life when it opens (might end up being 80kph in the end but we do not know that for certain just yet). - Shane

I worry that if 80km/h is the max esp on the highway sections, the public will 100% notice that the train is running much slower than traffic when traffic is clear. There will be much complaining. Lol

@@RailFansCanada I think it's very unlikely that they are training operators on a different set of speed limits than the ones they will need to know, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for the moment

The Train might as well drive itself lol , You can't do what you want in the operator seat you are forced with speed limits pretty much a fool proof system. The Vancouver Skytrain is almost all computerized and I think that Ai will eventually take over train jobs in future.

The control room generally controls the speed, not the operator, typically.. the signalling and speed control are the same as used on Skytrain for this.

"Yeah control, I went to manual mode and went 82 km/h. Can you reset the e-brakes so the train can go?" "Fifth time this week Serge, watch it." "That 20 second button is driving me nuts."

I expect AUTO mode might be most common? So an operator can expect to press that button every 20 seconds FOREVER? Yikes...
@RailFansCanada
@RailFansCanada Месяц назад
Yes most run in Automatic ATO so that button must be continually pressed. Alternatively there is also a foot pedal they can keep clicking away but the button is by far the most commonly used.

@@RailFansCanada Thanks for the info, that would drive me nuts. A slot machine handle might be more fun. Some noises and lights?? LOL

If your really a fan of rails stay far away from this monstrosity that destroyed the transit system in our city

Too late now might as well support it. I think they should sell the trains the infrastructure is almost perfect. Except for those sharp bends.

@@WasReloading if it's not down for maintenance or flooding or derailment or whatever reason possible the service only runs half the year causing huge traffic jams and hundreds of people waiting for buses
