I hope you all enjoyed this little trip to document some of these one-room schoolhouses and I have much more to explore and document on the backroads coming up. There is so much to see out there and I enjoy preserving them in video for people to enjoy now and in the future. Thank you and have a great weekend!
Hi Wade. That was very interesting to see these old schoolhouses. Brilliantly captured with great imagery and footage. 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻. A very enjoyable watch. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️. Cheers Watto.
Pretty cool video, Wade. It was nice to see the 3 different styles of construction on the schools. I'm surprised there was not vandalism or graffiti with them being accessible to the public. Awesome to think they were over 100 years old and still standing. Nice drone footage. Well done on the history commentary. Have a great day.
Thanks! It seems every school has its own style. So many surprises out there and it is fun to search and find them. Luckily some haven't been disturbed too much by people. I like to see just natural decay. Mostly made out of wood and standing over 100 years is great to see for sure. Take care!
Hi Wade, this is absolutely amazing to see and will be an awesome series. I'm fascinated with old structures and you've documented these perfectly. Loved the edit & creaky door sound. Fantastic, see you on the next one! 👍
Oh I am sorry I missed this awesome video and now you are specializing in documentary with a nice a warm voice. Well done and thanks for sharing another fantastic video.
I just like trying different things and playing around with different ideas and I thought this was a great way to showcase all of the history that is out there. Thank you for your nice feedback. Take care!
That's for sure a great idea for a documentary series, Wade. Beautiful and very scenic shots of these historic places that deserve to be preserved in your wonderful video productions. Great work, my dear friend.🤘👌 Enjoy your Sunday. All best wishes, Michael.
Many thanks! I am happy when people enjoy the things that I do and I love finding and documenting these places since they only have limited time left before they are gone. Have a great day!
Hi Wade. I remember growing up in Sturgeon County and going past those little signs that stated a school was there. If I remember correctly schools were 10 Km (6 miles) apart. In times past the students had to walk to school. We have it easier with School Buses. Have a Great Weekend. Thank you for Everything that you do to show the Buildings before they are gone.
Hi there! Yes I pass by so many signs of where all these schools used to be. Back then going to school was a bit tougher for sure haha and just things like heating the building would have been a chore. Thanks and I am glad you enjoy seeing these places as much as I do.
Thank you very much! Yes these rural schools most of the time seem to be in the middle of nowhere and might have only served very few kids in the immediate little community. Take care!
Nice to see that the old schoolhouse is still there, all by itself. There is nothing else there except wilderness. Very interesting to see those other schoolhouses too. Great drone footage and well put together video. Thank you for sharing and from today, I'm officially supporting your channel.👍🙂
They are nice to find and I really enjoy it. Love finding and learning about some of our history. I appreciate you stopping by and the support! Thanks.
Just beautiful, breath taking and inspiring, your videos are unreal! The footage looks like something out of a movie! Thanks for sharing and showing us the hidden memories of Alberta, so interesting! Loving the content and looking forward to following your journey :)
Hello Wade that was so beautiful and amazing to see the school houses I love that you showed us the inside too. To think back on days when children were inside, hearing their voices. Amazing to see the chalk boards and furniture. I love the squeeky door closing. Perfect video 👍
It is fun to search and document some of this forgotten history. You never know what you might find around the next corner. When possible I like to show the inside and it is not always possible but I try and document the best I can. Yes I like to picture when I am standing there what it must have been like back then and I always like the big windows on one side that most of the schoolhouses have and it is nice to see some of the remnants like chalkboards still left. Thanks so much!
We have some extreme weather in these parts and these early settlers had to be tough in these conditions. It can get +40c in summer and -40c in winter. Always surprising when I see these still standing after all these years even though they were mostly built with simple construction and wood. Take care!
Stunning vidoe, this place looks bleek and desolete yet sublime and wonderful at the same time! Thanks for sharing and have a great week! Cheers from barnyz
Another piece of History, well done. Schools looked like they were long ways from town or village. the first school looked like it was out there all by it's self. I liked the way you opened and closed the door. they are still hanging on for there age. Music as always was good fit to video. well done.
Wow!! This is incredible!! $800 to build a school?! That wouldn’t even get us started no days! Hahaha!! I loved seeing the schools!! The snow added so much beautiful detail to your incredible footage!!
Thanks for watching! Not sure how much that would be in todays money but $800 then was quite a bit. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment. Take care!
They sure are. They mostly all have a similar basic shape but they all have their own unique style also. I use my Sony mostly but also my Dji pocket 2. So a bit of a mixture I use. Take good care!
This is a great idea Wade - your films will be a record of these evocative places What I don’t understand is that those schools seem to be miles from any other ruined buildings? Are they being maintained while other buildings have been left to disappear? Really enjoyed the atmosphere on this one 👍👍👍
Thank you so much! No these aren't being maintained. A lot of the time these rural schools were just in a central location in the community which might have been kms away from the nearest farms or homes. Communities were spread out over many kms. Other buildings and homes might have existed that may already be gone or were dismantled also. So much is gone from these early days that is why it is such a treat to still find the ones that are still standing. Take care!
We have quite a few of them around here in Manitoba as well. Nice documentary. Thanks for sharing. Curious to know what gear did you use for the making of this video?
I want to visit these places but I can't find them on google maps I don't know How to get there, could you help me? sending me the locations or directions of how to get there?
