I would have used some HDPE for less noise and abrasion on the mounting plate. Love you genuine, un-filtered portrayal of real life garage experiences, I think we all can relate. Keep the videos coming.
That's not a bad idea. I'm not sure if the crate could fully fold down with that. If I still had access to UHMW from my manufacturing days, I could have just used some of that. Some people have used cutting boards to mount other bags but not with a folding crate. Might give it a shot.
@@baldrider It's cool to see everyone's different approach to mounting these crates and even the differences in the crates they select. I am still torn between keeping the super usable, oversized factory rack or ditching it for the narrow version. I'll lose some functionality and the ability to two-up but it'll look a lot nicer haha.
@@texlee1640 Two-up isn't an option for me if I plan on ever going up even the slightest grade already being 220lbs. I don't think this crate will be permanent. I have large Nelson Rigg Tour bags I use on my Goldwing that may be used on the rack instead of the crate when the situation requires. Every bike I own ends up having at least one rack somewhere. I'm happy this one has it already.
Thanks for the fun video and tips on oil change! I followed your direction and didn't have problems it was my first oil change on the bike. Decided I wanted to do these myself. I like that the 2023 has the oil filter and I also had to pour more in then was recommended it's a bit over middle of the dipstick spot but should be ok.
Very nice video. I just found your channel. I changed my oil and spark plug in my 2022 Trail 125 yesterday. I love this little bike. Its interesting some of the differences between the '22 and '23 engine. I haven't done the Quad Lock yet but I have installed a set of Barkbusters. They make a huge difference off road. Especially when you lay it down. I do like the Green too. Keep the videos coming. We'll keep hitting the like button and whatching.
I'm a bit concerned with the flat sheet metal support not having its corners and edges removed - that is a hidden chopping hatchet in this state. Some dampening material in between might also be point to upgrade. It sure will dampen noise and it will reduce vibration stress around the bolting areas. This is turning into a really nice ride.
Maybe .9 quarts would be enough if you only changed the engine oil and not the filter? My bike has separate specifications listed for when changing the oil versus changing both the oil and filter.
Had the same problem on super cub. You need to have oring on that plastic measuring screw, not resting on engine block. Yes thats that easy - oring position is important.
I think it's great you discovered cameras, and that I have discovered your channel... because this is pretty much the dialogue I have all by myself when I do anything nowadays 🙂. And now I have discovered cameras, and microphones - without cords - and am sorting out how to give people what they want to know. Good stuff, subbing just because I want to see if CT can do it. Thanks for sharing, very enjoyable.
"Could this be more difficult?" was my mantra while changing out my water heater. A) the water main shutoff B) getting the old tank to drain C) clearing away the old piping so I could run PEX. At least plumbing with PEX was a pleasant experience. 🤷🏻♂️
I believe the back tyre needs to be touching the ground when you do check the oil level as this would have the oil level higher at the rear of the engine (this was the instructions given to US whom worked for Auspost) so try that and see if your oil is now 0.1 quart over fill (FYI Honda nz claim being over fill by that amount IS okay, I disagree but that’s MY opinion)
That's interesting since the manual says to put it on the center stand. I despise this whole method in the first place. Just give us a sight glass like everybody else. So much easier.
Great video. I reuse the same washers. When draining oil and changing filters, I always cover areas with aluminum foil that would get dripped on. Nice life hack for riding mower too.
While the paper oil filter is easier to maintain than the crankshaft mounted centrifugal oil filter that these engines have always had since the year dot, i still thing it is mostly a profit ploy🙁 as you have to change it more often than the 8,000 miles the centrifugal filter required! Also, if not serviced, the centrifugal filter was probably good for 10 to 12 thousand miles or more without a qualm! Also, as a safety FYI, should you mess with the handlebar clamps at any point, it is a Honda design thing where the clamps have a dot on the top clamps that should always face foreward, then you should do both upper bolts fully tight, then do the rear bolts pinch tight. If you inadvertantly get this ass about face in any way, your bars wont be securely clamped✅✅✅
Thank you. I never saw one until I went to the dealer to pick mine up. I love it and wish I had bought it sooner. The question about size comes up a lot. My other videos show the performance on mountain roads with a 220lb me on it. I think if you manage your expectations, it would be fine. The terrain where you plan to ride it also makes a difference.
26 GA that's like Tin Foil .. You should have gone to an Aluminum supplier that has Drops .. You can get steel drops much cheaper at a steel supplier too .
You didn’t do anything wrong, nor has Honda done! 😉 The engine has a certain amount of oil in it. The amount that Honda puts in when the bike is new. When you change oil however, you can’t drain 100% of the oil inside, so when you put in new oil, the amount will be less than 100%, and in the book you can read an approximation of the oil change amount. But if you drain it really, really well, you’ll need more. And that is a good thing! 👍 So basically - trust the stick! If it says “pour in more oil”, do it! If you can put in more than what the book says, you have drained the bike really well. Good for you! You don’t do sloppy oil-changes! 👍 The professional shops should learn from you. Draining the oil well means more percentage of fresh oil. The reason that Honda tell you to run the bike a few minutes and then wait some time before checking oil, it is because they want the best for you - they want you to make a very precise measurement - i.e. a measurement with oil in all the oil channels, but not to much on the inside walls of the engine. Sooo you should probably put just a tad more oil in it. 😉 Trust the measuring stick and always fill to max-line.
honda trails are good little bikes . i watched a guy here on youtube forget his channel but he rode his from like new york to California . following some trail cant remember . but it made it . had a couple flat tires but other then that it did great . 1000 miles should be a walk in the park .
Kill the music. Jeepers, you made it like The Lawrence Welk Show. Exiting out. BTY. oil sits on the head for a while after running. If you check it after it's drained back, you'll find you've over filled it.
Well, it has a screen but not a paper element filter. Those didn't get added until the 2023 model year. I don't have a magnetic drain plug. I haven't decided if I am going to add one or not.
In my 33 of street riding I’ve never changed a crush washer lol. I know I should, but in a bazillion miles I’ve never had a single one leak 😂 so until that day I’ll keep being lazy.
I haven't changed it again yet but I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds this worrisome. Honda is generally known for being highly competent. Something isn't right
@@baldrider I had pretty much the same arc. I put .9 quarts in it; not a drop on the dipstick. I was paranoid that the black dipstick was messing with my eyes. I kept trickling oil into it until it took the whole quart to bring up to the full line. I read the manual; use center stand and do not screw in the dipstick. I am so confused why there's hardly anybody talking about this
Know what works great instead of the steel plate is a cheap teflon or whatever they are cutting board, I bought one from the 99¢ store for my monkey rack, will never rust
T@@ohwell2790 The paper filter is 'additional ' , contary to many peoples belief they still have a centrifugal filter and the oil strainer, so can be argued probably not needed IMV. I have a new style with paper filter, do my own maintenance and at 7k miles have just cleaned the centrifugal filter and strainer in addition to changing the cartridge filter.
The amount you took out of the oil bottle was wrong. You never measured that bottle to see that it had 1 quart in it. And the amount you took out was too much as far as I could see.
@@baldrider sorry when i posted this i had my head up my butt i guess. i had the first goldwing to hit texas in 1975 and had a few after that. i should have known it had a wet clutch also
