I find it mad how CB has 2 songs which are strong contenders for Top 10 drill songs ever made. 'Talk on my name' and 'Take that risk' . If someone even said top 5 I wouldn't argue
For UK Drill could you guys do Digga D - Mad about bars (wordplay is incredible) Headie one - Know better (read about beef before watching the vid for context or it won’t be as impactful) Uk Rap - Fredo - they ain’t 100.
For headie one, there was a lot of murders involved in that song. Basically people from edmonton killed a guy from OFB (headie ones gang) that came to their block. A couple weeks later, Woodgreen (edmonton/n9 associates) people found headie one in luton university, they had a fight where headie tried to pull out a gun but didnt as he was on camera. The next day, OFB went round to woodgreen shot a guy called Lampz in the head, during broad daylight outside a busy Vue cinema in woodgreeen. It was a retaliation act as a result pf th euni incident and previous killing One of the bars in the song you'll hear is "they say I took in an L in L, But i made a W in W" The L means take a loss, and he was beat up in Luton, Therefore "L" in "L" but they killed the guy in woodgreen, which is a win, Therefore "W"in "W"
It's the way he raps softly and with finesse that makes it have a certain calmer aura, nonchalant being the word you were looking for at around 3:00. Kinda like the flow, intonation and delivery that frosty has on county lines.
Bside 30 - where they hiding This is like a right of passage into U.K. drill for reaction channels Background info - this video was filmed on the “opp block”. The video was removed from RU-vid for showing weapons. However, it was reuploaded with the weapons blurred out. It was again removed from RU-vid but was reuploaded again by smaller RU-vid channels. Like this so they react to it
Pack - Quantity of drugs (usually boxes/ ninebars) Crop - That sweet sticky icky before harvest. Deep in op boy waters - enemy territory. So I’ve heard 👀
skeng = gun shank = knife/blade/ to stab crop = a weed grow pack = bag of weed, usually an ounce or a dead opp, hence "smoking on opp packs" cheffed = stabbed splashed = stabbed (the splash signifies a lot of blood, so any metaphors related to swimming/water/leaking are all related to the aftermath of the attack) chinged = stabbed poked = stabbed doing drills = shooting, could be a driveby on anything from a biycle/scooter/car/ or even hop out on foot and blast
A skeng is a gun, not a knife. And the reason drill artists have a lot of different words for certain things, is the same reason they at times blur or mute words, or even say "shh" instead like Headie One popularized with "know better" following a real life situation and retaliation that followed, and all of that is to code language because they know the authorities are watching and they don't want anything to directly be used against them, or even just lead to the videos being taken down or not allowed to be uploaded on certain channels, because the UK lacks freedom like that sadly.
“mom said back by 10 theres somewhere we need to go” “need to go” str8 bar along with “asked bro should i do what i do” “shoulda neva let me” which i think they missed they talked over that one lol
Great reaction lads, look up some of the London slang so you know what is said in the songs, wasn’t expecting this reaction, SL is the future of drill seen as he’s only like 17 or 18 right now, UK Drill is gonna be on a whole other level
I’ll try let you know some of the commonly used slang in drill. Dip/splash/ching - stab Opp - opposing gang Pack/food/bud/crop/ammi - weed or another drug Peng - good looking or good Back it out - pull out the knife or gun Skeng - gun Lacking - off guard Nitty - a crackhead Probably loads I’ve missed people feel free to add, but this gives an insight to what you might not know.
back out- take out (gun or knife usually) akh/akhi- bro ammi- (amnesia) cro brando- hood bagged- arrested can/box/hmp - prison cheff/ching/queff/shank/splash/dipped- stabbed packs/food/loud - usually cro (weed) or other drugs was/stick/strap/skeng- gun score- getting down ur opp just so u can understand the lyrics better
OFB and BSide are the way to go if you want savage and violent drill And a skeng is a gun btw, you guys just need to watch Trap Lore Ross's video on uk drill slang
