I sure wish that someday somebody will review a disc and publish their elevation, release velocity, and release spin rate. That would provide a huge reference point. All flight numbers are more marketing than engineering. They are subjectively determined through an empirical process. So...whatever. Do you agree with the discraft stability number? I think your final statement about the fact that it is more overstable with less glide than the zone is the most accurate point you made about the flight characteristics. That gives me a reference point that I can start with. thanks! There's a thought. Maybe you could get the most popular disc of each type and then in the future compare how the disc your reviewing to those reference discs. I like it! Anyway, thanks for the video!
In my experience the 1 turn is warrented, similar to the whippet but slower. If you throw it for shorter low power approaches it will fly relatively flat before fading, but if you crank it for shots around 200-250, similar to a whippet, it will start fading as soon as it leaves your hand. The whippet I use for ship shots as it always lands on the right angle to skip. I can see this disc being useful for me for shots where I would use the whippet, but need it to sit rather than skip.
your flight numbers are much more spot on. This is a fad that I hope Disc golf grows out of... I don't mean this type of mold (Baobab is the best btw)... but the fad of exaggerating the Fade or Glide rating (looking at you, Lat64)
In my opinion, a disc with a positive turn should fade faster the harder you throw it. I don't know if that is what they intended with this disc. I wonder if that extreme puddle top is getting it to the ground before it can fade as hard as designed.
I think it’s funny that prodigy has had this disc (A1) and multiple zone like discs (A3,A2) that get way less love. I get it that prodigy kindof goofed with Gannon but the discs were around before that. The zone OS is new but it’s certainly not unique.
@@DiscGolfNerd it’s the disc I throw off the tee on almost any hole less than 275. (Forehand dominant player) the A4 is my go to for backhands in the same range.
@@scbuckeye1267 how many prodigy discs do you have? And how hard is it really to scrape off some flashing? I think prodigy gets a bad rap because people shit talk them and that has just become part of the community consciousness.
I know it SAYS it's a 5-speed but it's really not. It's not. It's a stupid disc and I love it for it. It's the Tilt of midranges, WAY more overstable than a Justice or a Mutant and that's saying something. WAY more OS.
I tend to avoid the Zone (whichever iteration) - probably because I'm stubborn and prefer to look for hidden gems. I appreciate that you call out the overstated flight numbers but still acknowledge that it is - nonetheless - still I solid disc. It just can't live up to Discraft's marketing hype.
