I have to retwist more frequently then my friends because most of my locs do this. I have been using your exact technique for years now. I wish more people spoke about this happening. Thank you
My hair grows this way and I’m almost 4 years in. I’ve resigned myself to know that this is how MY Locs grow. Some grow with the Locs and some not. No matter if I interlock or not.
My hair grows away from my locs not every single loc mainly the ones at the front I just take those loose hair put it through the base of the loc and wrap those bad boys up 😂it's worked for me thus far sometimes these loose hair just needs to be trained to do what they're supposed to. Very informative video Dae. Blessings♥
I have this “issue” but don’t really mind it bc I think it makes my hair looks a little fuller. I don’t retwist often (so far I’ve retwisted like 3x & I’ve had locs for 9 months), but when I do the issue is mostly with finding my parts.
Omg...I thought I was doing something wrong. Thank you so much! I needed you like today. Because I just noticed it, but the loose hair is so long. So I know it's not breaking. You are gold❣
I have this same issue, "Growing away from the locs" is a nice way of saying this. I call it "Breaking off at the locs". I either braid my hair back in or use a crochet needle to feed it in (just simply twisting it for me doesn't do it) and when I do it correctly it last me 2 or more months. Now I see why your locs are always so neat. Thanks for bringing this up.
I’m thinking about feeding the hair that grows out of the loc thru the base/root then do a 2 strand twist with the hair. Maybe use a interlocking tool.
Yay! You answered my question with a video! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾❤️❤️❤️❤️ This happens for my entire head and I’m so happy you addressed this! Thank you so much!!!❤️🥰❤️
Yassss mine do in the front to sooo I twist it around the lock spray with rose water in Vitamin e olive oil peppermint rosemary oil ,wow it hair on down it works
Omg, that's what's going on with my son's hair. It's so thick and it grows out of the lock. Now I know, I have been wrapping his hair and been doing it more frequently than I felt I should. Now I know to do go's hair at least every four weeks. Thanks for this video..😘
Omg i thought this only happened to me...i have this problem all over my head and constantly gave to rewrap the hair around the loc in between retwists....and my hair is also loose at the bottom of the loc too....
Wow, I’ve been locked for 9 months now & have had to create 3 little baby locs due to this. It really didn’t bother me right now, but I I combine them later in down the line it they turn out to be too small.
@@BigDes_Energy So true. But tell me this when two twins are walking down the street, looking exactly alike, except for the eye lashes, why does the one with the fake lashes get all the attention from guys? Please tell me.
Brownmahfun Them are probably kids!! Not real men!! Grown men like our women more original and natural! Like those long nails are a deal breaker for me‼️ #Turnoff 💯
@@Brownmahfun I try to remember - what men say and what they do, are two different things. Pay attention to what they DO. Example - many men say they don't like makeup, but what they mean is they don't like to be able to tell you are wearing it and want it to be subtle and non dramatic. Their gaze will follow the pretty woman with the light, natural makeup before the woman with a bare face. In his mind he won't realize this. And of course there are women naturally beautiful but a tad of makeup really ups a woman's attraction. Even if it's just a small hint of highlight shimmer on her cheeks with some mascara.
Thank you so much for this video I needed to hear this I started my Locs from watching your videos you inspire me to grow my Locs and love it ❤ Thank You Queen
This is a big problem for me but only on one side of my head weirdly enough. I recently cut off my ten year old locs but will be starting a new set at some point. Thanks for the advice!!
This happens all over my head, and my locs never look done, even after a fresh retie. I have been frustrated about this, but have accepted that this is how my haid grows.
Yeah that happens to some of my locs too and I do this as well. I'm just curios if this leads to smaller locs because we're wrapping hair around a loc and it can maybe not expand as if there was no hair around that loc.
I do what you do but lightly retwist then crochet it, then I interlock the root. If I don’t crochet it it will just keep unraveling and will create a weak loc
Wow this is a first time that i have come across someone who has the similar challenges with loc growth. I am not sure of your previous loc journey but i would strongly recommend interlocking because i am 3 years in and i believe it has helped uniforn my locs and prevents thinning. Loved the video, love and light 🖤
I have this issue around my hair line. Initially my hair was just sparse but thank God, it has been growing in so it's NOT growing in my locs. There is one other area in the crown that it does this on. I guess I just got to accept it. I've tried crocheting it on, braiding and something else. Thanks for the video.
I’m so happy I came across this video because I though I was balding and was gone chop babies off real soon but you helped me understand it just happens to some people 🌴🤞🏽
I’m experiencing this and It doesn’t look bad. It makes it look more full and I really like the look. Im researching this because I thought my hair was breaking off and was very worried to have loose shorter hair surrounding my locs. I even had to create a new loc because it was a lot of extra hair. I also retwist once a month. I’m thinking about doing it every 3 weeks instead.
thank you for clarifying this. I have this issue at the base of my head and have been very concerned . I will sleep better now knowing that my hair is growing away from the loc and its nothing more serious
Thank you for this! I know my loose hairs are sitting here watching this with me like 🤨 but yes, fun’s all over kiddos 🤪🤣 this loose hair issue is exactly the reason why I’ve been intent on only getting my retwists done by my loctician but I think I’m just gonna try to do one myself now and stop overthinking it lol Edit to add* i don’t think it’s breakage due to retwists, at least not in my case (only had 3 in 8mo so far), for me it’s just the frizzy, crawling texture of my hair. I had the same issue when I’d get box braids done on my loose hair, these hairs just like to run amok and not be constrained tbh 😆
Nina Williams My hair has been like this since my very first retwist and immediately I was researching. My opinion is that this normally happens to people who have fine hair or fine hairs in a certain section of their hair. I haven’t seen too many people with thick density hair complain about this issue. We just have to be more intentional with our retwist while still not retwisting so often that it leads to thinning. You just have to find the right balance for your own hair. This is the reason retwists do not last long if you have hair that grows away from the loc. Be blessed today beautiful!!!🙏🏾🥰
My hair tends to grow into the loc. I have thick locs (I’ve never counted) and because they’re thicker than average, I have to wait longer between retwists so there’s enough hair to twist up
I like to lightly braid my loose hair with the loc, because I don't retwist (I'm basically a free former)..@Dae I see you still got that piece of a comb😌
My whole head is like this. My natural curl pattern is kinda loose... i used 2 wrap it around, but now imma just use a crochet needle to add it back then twist it for the retwist and see how that goes... ill probably keep it i a loose style or something to keep the locs together and keep it from moving... i dont wanna have to use gel... i just use oil and water to retwist now and it works until a week later those sttains escape
Some of my locs do this as well so I use a crochet hook on those, too. I find that the hair comes back out sometimes 😑 but it could be that I wait too long between retwists, usually when I don’t feel like twisting my hair after a shampoo... or two lol. I wanted to let you know that this product called Spray and Loc works really well for retwisting. Mine last for about 3 weeks before I’m ready to shampoo it out and it still looks good then. There’s no buildup but it is sticky at first, but that goes away the dryer your hair gets. I can’t use oil on my scalp so I had to find a product that would work for me but wouldn’t cause buildup. Shipping speed can be hit or miss, but I combat that by ordering two bottles at a time and order before I run out. I have thick locs and been loc’d for 21 mths btw. Love your color! Shalom!
@@mignondee Hey sis... thank u for suggesting that product... ill look into it for sure... definitely looking for something that would help when i wanna do a twist or braid out... want my roots 2 b tame for those styles without having to worry about buildup... thank u for the compliments 💜💜💜... im tryna last 2 weeks without washing... im trying it now 2 see how long i can go... but i find washing makes it loc and swell up faster... i don't mind the frizzies... its the loose hairs that drive me nuts... lol
I used to twist or braid loose hair lightly. However I've found I like crocheting loose hair into my loc. I lightly twist the loose hair around the loc and use the crochet hook to incorporate it into the loc so that it doesn't come loose.
@@ThatsAshD I definitely don't overdo it. I'm seeing some people starting to use it for regular maintenance. I don't know about that. You're picking a crochet needle through your locs. I can see how that can go wrong over time.
In the first 6 mths of my journey my microlocs did this😪I would retwist every 4 wks, that start making my scalp tender (maybe too much manipulation) I started getting my microlocs interlocked and that helped a ton!!! I'm 15 mths in to my journey now and my locs are better trained so now I get them interlocked every 6-8 wks!!!
Very informative. Thanks for the video. I have long strands that grow away from my locs so yes..unfortuantely semi freeforming is not an option for me :-( Thanks again!
My hair does the same I just twist the hair lightly around the loc or push it into my parts and they stay full. I’m semi and I’ve only retwisted like 4 times out of the 4 years I’ve been natural and my locs are super thick and so are my roots.
My hair grows away from a few of my locs. I use JBCO, too and I braid the loose hair into the loc instead of twists. It gave me a solid base and less hair growing away from the loc. Some of my hair is too fine to hold the braid but I keep trying 🤷🏽♀️😉
The hairs at my back grow away so bad, it's not even funny 😭. But I'm honestly just gonna leave it until I get them done. P.s- I'm gonna try and retighten my hair myself! I'm quite young, so I'm nervous lol.
@@kraxykam7242 point rotation? Are you interlocking? If so then start with an easy North/South then East/West. Then South/North and West/East. That's a 4 point rotation. If easier, think top to bottom then right to left. Then bottom to top and left to right. Watch an interlocking video to see it in action. If palmrolling, twist clockwise (to the right) always. If you twist counter clockwise then twist to the left always. Don't switch it up.
jan miq Hi beautiful! My hair is like this all over and I do not think this is the case. I am the one who does not retwist as often (due to laziness on my part) and it still happens! My opinion is it is due to having fine hair or fine hairs in a certain section of the scalp. While retwisting too often can lead to thinning Locs over time, if you have hair growing away from the Locs and you don’t retwist as often that can lead to it as well. Balance is key when it comes to this issue!!! Be blessed today Love!🙏🏾🥰
jan miq Good Morning Love! I started with two strands. I have 40 Locs so they are bigger than the average but I have fine hair so they are not huge Locs the way I desired them but I love them all the same. 🥰🥰🥰
Really glad I came across your video because I have it all over my head I thought it’s because I have a lot of grey. How often should it be retwisted? I’ve been growing for 6 months and it still hasn’t really locked
