Cool interview. Love all the movie discussion. Kevin Smith is a genius and those movies give me fond memories. Not just because they were pivotal pieces, but they reminded me of my life. Granted, I never worked in a convenience store…but I did play hockey. They vibe of those movies was a lot like my life too. I had a friend that used to deal outside of a deli (not a convenience store, but still very convenient). That deli was proximal to a certain video chain store, was it right next door? No, but still gave me that vibe. I had friends that would make words to describe the ladies that I never used but thought were hysterical. Most of my friends looked like either Jay, Silent Bob, Randall, or Dante. There was that one girl everyone knew that was like Veronica. I was so much like what I experienced as a teen/young adult here on Long Island. Mallrats, that just reminded me of that time too. I remember being in the mall with my buds thinking we owned the place, hanging in the arcade, or just people watching. Occasionally, there were turf battles because of certain high school colors being worn…but all in all, a fun experience. Star Wars is something near and dear to me. Do I think Disney ruined it? No, but they could have done so much better. I do enjoy them all, even through the quirkiness and inconsistency. Still need to do Galaxy’s Edge at Disney World. I really want to see a good crack at the Old Republic era, not what we got from The Acolyte. It was kind of “forced lore”. Do something that follows the plot line of the video games or the many novels on the subject. It would make for an interesting movie, heck I played Knights of the Old Republic (both versions) for nearly a decade. It’s highly immersive. If they could translate that to a movie or trilogy, would save a lot of face at Disney. Missed D&D live yesterday, but did watch on Patreon last night. Good discussion, will wait for the airing to comment further. Also missed the Zebra/Craving Strange show on Saturday. I saw pictures of the packed house, so didn’t feel that guilty that I missed it. I made a commitment to some of my other friends to attend a show over at Whiskey Rocks and I was not disappointed. Got to see a bunch of my friends play in their bands Ashes of Us All and Handful of Days. I also got to check out two bands that I never heard of before, Them vs. Her (indie sounding rock) and The Mind Empire (fusion rock/funk). Them vs. Her opened and really brought me back to the days when I’d hang out in all the alternative clubs. Really got the audience going. Next was Ashes of Us All, a traditional metal band with all the aggressive elements (screams and guitar solos). Handful of Days is a rock ensemble, three guitars and all with different styles. My buddy Ed Palotta is in the band and just effortlessly amazes me with his playing. The Mind Empire closed out and I was dumbfounded. The amount of talent that I watched was astounding. Three guys, keyboard player, drummer, and guitarist/singer. They have a bass player but he wasn’t able to play that night. OMG! If you get the chance to see them, please do.
