Discussion "Cultural Reception of Crimea: Decolonial Aspect" 

Recently NAMU held a discussion “Cultural Reception of Crimea: Decolonial Aspect”, dedicated to the Remembrance Day of the Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatars. During the meeting, the issue of overcoming the colonialism of Crimea through the prism of art was raised; discussed the difficulties and challenges faced by cultural institutions in the process of researching Crimean Tatar culture; analyzed the influence of historical and political contexts on the creativity of Crimean artists, as well as considered the peculiarities of the representation of Crimean Tatars in the art of the 19th and 20th centuries.
They took part in the discussion: deputy director of NAMU Oksana Barshynova, general director of Mystetskyi Arsenal Olesia Ostrovska-Liuta, author of the book “Pearls in the Steppe. Conversations about the past of the Ukrainian South” Oleksii Mustafin, historian and researcher Martin-Oleksandr Kyslyi, journalist and psychologist Mavilie Khalil, artist and performer Mariia Kulikovska, leading researcher of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve Denys Yashnov, member of Expert board of Mission of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea Elmira Ablialimova, Director General of National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art Liudmyla Strokova.
Director General of NAMU Yuliya Lytvynets and permanent representative of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea Tamila Tasheva addressed the audience with a welcome speech.
Moderators: Mariia Tokmak, head of Crimean Platform Service, Mission of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea and Rustem Khalimov, journalist and writer, ather and co-presenter of “Kavun i Tiutiun” (“Watermelon and Tobacco“) at “Ukrainska Pravda”
