South Africa’s high levels of abuse have lately been spilling over into the workplace. More and more employees are complaining about abuse at work.

Thank you for this, i felt like i was losing my mind. It's sad when bullying is condoned by leadership within the organization..it's even worse when others justify this appalling behaviour and become spectators of the abuse.

Report these bullies. They are not above the law and this is mostly done on women

My abuser mostly targeted women as he thought they had no place in the fire service. My progressive views, support of female firefighters, and Paganism made me a target. I posted a link to my news story on here. Its empowering to speak up about your abuse. Sadly a lot of the female firefighters in my former dept faced unspeakable abuse, but most are too afraid to speak out.

Thank you Brian....its the "abused by natabiseng" for me...😂😂😂😂 Those ones are very abusive vele. In the corporate space, bullying is a serious scourge to society. Bullying must be apprehended by the police, no one else.

Amen. The problem is when HR is suppose to be your safe place but she's the bully herself and what makes it more difficult. I'm the only woman of colour being deprived from opportunity so everybody will be on HR side. I'm stuck with myself and domestic. Domestic is black but she don't experience the abuse I experience. She leaves early so the abuse carries on. I mean to give you an example. I was tested covid positive HR responded and said oh noo, how long are you going to be off for? 🙄Like wtf. How about get well speedily. Can we help. It's just sad. I don't even wanna go back after my sick leave. Sick leave feels like a vacation from her bullying.

But sadly for me after I reported the Bullying/Hazing my abuser was found guilty, but was given an unredacted copy of the confidential internal investigation report. Thus those that spoke up faced retaliation, and the dept protected the abuser because he is a "good old boy", and this was not his first offense.

I have been bullied, unprocedurally charged and convicted, not evaluated and not promoted while my colleagues whom i was appointed with are promoted. And no one has ever gave me a proper explanation of why is all this happening even my Union representative is always busy to assist me. Its been 4 years of depression. 💔💔💔😭😭

Its sad that HR has become so "toothless" to address this for fear of losing their jobs, overlook the abusive senior perpetrator because of his / her position. The victim subsequently has to suffer in silence and be driven to an emotional breakdown. HR is so unethical when it comes to such matters. To be honest HR is just a liability in an organisation!

She askes what can private sector organizations or corporates do, she is missing the biggest bully GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES , ESP THE UNEDUCATED ONES WHO ARE PART OF THE FURNITURE
