Disembarking & Overall Review: MSC Armonia - The Bolivian Incident (part 6)

We were unfortunate enough to board the MSC Armonia on the day the incident with the 69 Bolivian Passengers occured. These passengers had been able to board the ship in Brasil without the correct immigration paperwork. This resulted in the ship being impounded by Spanish Authorities in Barcelona.
Like many other passengers we boarded the ship oblivious to this problem. Our daily VLOGS capture what this meant for our holiday experience and our frustrations as the incident unfolded and MSC effectively wiped out our holiday plans for the ports were were to visit.
We booked this holiday for a cheap price and had low expectations of MSC - In our VLOGS you'll see if MSC met those expectations.
In this 6th and final VLOG in this series we cover our final sea day and the somewhat compicated disembarkation at Venice. Did we actually get to see Venice?
We also give our overal thoughts on what had been a very strange cruise holiday experience. We comment on how MSC handled the incident with the Bolivian Passengers and rev iew our experiences onboard the ship. Did MSC live up to our expectations?

Well at least you kept your sense of humour throughout. That meal at the end would have finished me off. Initially I thought I might try MSC if the price was right but I don't think I'll bother. We're a big fan of small ships 600 passengers or fewer but we actually loved our time on Arvia and Iona and were able to make it work for us.

Thank you - At some point humour is all you can salvage from a situation. That meal was something else - And we laughed ! Small ships work for us too .. We have lots of friends swear by IONA though so looking forward to seeing what the fuss is about. Thank you again for all your kind words of support. Si & Netty x

Guys we love your positivity in the face of adversity. Thanks for the info. We have never done MSC and it would take a massive bargain to get us on one of their ships. Hope you enjoy Norway and Iona. We had a great time on that ship even though it was big and we prefer smaller ships. Will you consider doing MSC again?

Thank you guys! This MSC experience has certainly made us think about the bargain mails we receive continually. Some look too good to be true ! But we do think that if we had been able to follow the original itinerary this would have been a good bargain.. MSC not shining though and it does make you wonder if they would make a reliable travel provider if you are ever in real difficulty abroad. The jury’s very much out on another MSC cruise … Thank you again for all your support.

Now that's a sunset! Thats really bad about the transfer of bags. It was certainly a different cruise for you, hit a great story. The value was brilliant, even with the incident. We definitely need to try MSC - some of their cruise prices are amazing. Cheers 🍻

Wow - Thank you - It was a good deal and if the cruise had gone as planned it would have been amazing! We have a warts and all video in progress.., MSC got plenty right but also quite a bit wrong.

It was our honeymoon and if the itinerary actually worked I think I would have enjoyed it, despite the food being bad (except for the pizza - I lived on that too!) as the stops were so good. I had heard about bad food on MSC but still thought it would be worth it. All the individual staff were great too but it was crazy that we had to get all the info from the news. You’d think they’d want to keep people updated? The staff must have been frustrated too that they weren't getting proper info. Our email back from MSC was the same waiting to hear from head office (same as told onboard really). Do you have a copy of the letter you got saying about refunding the drinks package? We paid for it but didn’t get that letter. Out of everything I agree communication was a really big issue.

Firstly many congratulations on getting Married! Wishing you both many happy years together! So sorry to hear this was your honeymoon..Things have got to look up from here. It’s reassuring to hear others with the same views as us. We met so many passengers who were rightly unhappy with MSC but the poor staff had to take the brunt of it and themselves were in the dark.. Happy to send you a copy of the last letter- Perhaps message the channel or leave an email address and I’ll send a photo of it. Let’s hope MSC do the decent thing with the compensation..Hope can use the money for a second trip somewhere nice .. Thanks again for watching our VLOGS!

Well done for making the most of an ordeal, and hopefully it won't put you off future cruising. Certainly looking forward to our next cruise together! Best of luck getting all your compo sorted out and in a quick time frame too please MSC. So, the big question we'd all love to know - would you ever use MSC again i.e. give them another chance?

Thank you - I’ll post if and when MSC come good with the Compo … The jury is out on another cruise .. We saw passengers with the highest tier of loyalty membership get treated badly by MSC … This week has given us plenty to mull over that’s for sure ..

Did you obtain the compensation from MSC already? They offer less than the captain letter said, so I refused and asked for what they offered on board. Still waiting on response for 1 month now.

Hi - Thanks for watching- Yes we got compensation in the end. Cruise fare refunded for the days from Barcelona to Venice and the drinks package refunded for this same period. We did have to challenge it as originally they did not offer to compensate the drinks package despite what was on the letter received onboard. They did then make a revised offer which we accepted and was paid within about 10 days. Hope you get your compensation resolved soon. And also that you have more adventures planned soon.. Thanks again !

@@CooksExplore similar. They did not offer the drink package also. Lets see. For the 50% off in next cruise im planning on going on msc seascape in Miami 😉

@telmocardoso4520 - Hope that’s a better trip for you. We are yet to use our cruise credit. And may not do either. We are still unsure following this experience.
