I am close to 84 . When I left my infants school aged 7 , I was able to read and write , calculate some mental maths . Bright student , no , failed my 11 plus . What I did have in those early years were wonderful teachers , whose mission in life was to educate children. Sack the left wing Liberal idiots , and employ those who are capable of teaching.

I always made sure my children had eaten breakfast before they left for school. I have always believed breakfast is important, and children do not concentrate when their blood sugar levels drop, which impacts on their learning.Why are so many parents incapable (or unwilling) to take responsibility for their offspring? Is it selfishness, laziness or incompetence that causes this. I was a trained nurse and had three sons, I divorced my husband and brought up the boys, they never went without food, or clean uniforms or help with their homework. I had a low income , but still managed to feed them. Today I believe many children still wear nappies to school, cannot use a knife and fork, and require the school to feed them. It is a disgrace that in a "civilised " country too many idle parents depend on handouts, and are not ashamed.

My 10 year old granddaughter is autistic and the 9 year old has ADHD. My son and daughter in law have had to pay for private education since Christmas because the state school is not a suitable environment for them. They are settling in quite well to an all girls school with lower class numbers and qualified staff on hand who are attuned to their sensitive natures. They are not rich and any rise in fees will be an additional burden to them. There are no other available places for these children. They can't thrive in state schools and to think they can is cruel. Their parents are working all the hours they can to give them the best chance in life and yet be on hand to support them too.

Work pays so poorly that its often a better idea to go on benefits than work. Its not because benefits pays too well, its because work pays so little. Why would anyone with a brain go and work 40 hrs per week and having paid rent, council tax, income tax and utilities have nothing left. Pay is too low, bills are too high - need to raise pay - fast food restaurant managers in the US earn more per year than Doctors and highly skilled engineers in this country.

It’s morally wrong because these parents are taking the pressure off the public sector, and it will be very damaging to kids who have learning difficulties and need private tuition. I feel lucky I emigrated to a Commonwealth country many years ago, where everyone is treated on their ability not their colour. My son go's to breakfast club and I have to pay for his breakfast club because his friends go to breakfast club who on Benefits yet it's cost me more than what it cost for 2 weeks of breakfast at home

My gran brought up 8 kids ln her own as her husband was killed in WW1. They never had luxuries like cars, freezers, tattoos, nails and hair done, tv or computers, mobile phones, alcoholic or cigarettes or take-aways because they were too lazy to cook, and no central heating, fitted carpets or even a bathroom, or inside toilet but none ever went without 3 meals a day and were always clean even if their clothes were hand-me downs and non broke the law by stealing/ shoplifting. There were no benefits or free healthcare either! Last time Labour was in they threw so much benefit money at people, they bankrupted the economy. Labour always do it, as they want to be seen as pro-working class, but they actually are pro-scroungers and fraudsters who don't want to work and have kids they think everyone else should pay to raise. They expect and get the same lifestyle that many working people can't afford handed to them on a plate by Labour. Same fir all the immigrants who come here illegally and legally but don't work but have huge numbers of kids on us!
