If the cruise company cannot provide safe drinking water from the faucets, bottled water should be free. If the water from the taps is safe to drink, bottled water is a waste of money. If the water is not safe and passengers are not told, there should be hell to pay. My wife and I are on a bucket list cruise on the Edge to Alaska in just over a month. We intend to celebrate two birthdays and a 34th wedding anniversary. If the ship smells like sewage, I'm going to be really angry.

I really hope they address the smell issue. It was very noticeable just about every time I was on the pool deck. Have a great celebratory cruise!

Quite clearly they had a problem and it was repaired . Grow up ! 99.9% of the time everything runs fine.

Was on a ship a couple of years ago and had brown water not long after I checked in. Called front desk and the hotel manager and my room steward showed up immediately and moved me to another room, an upgrade at that.

We were on Edge in Feb 2024, Sydney to Hobart and we didn't like it. Concierge class, infinite balcony was okish. My partner is legally blind and had HUGE difficulties getting around due to the appalling low lighting levels around the ship. We didn't have the smell or water problems, we did have rude fellow passengers (Americans and Chinese) - no manners at all. We'll be sticking with RC - love Quantum!

Discoloured water on a ship is very common after maintenance has been done on the potable water system. It looks bad but is perfectly safe as it has already passed through at least two sterilization systems including an Ultraviolet light sterilizer before it gets to your cabin. Don’t want to brush your teeth with it but it won’t hurt you. It clears up quickly as the water flushes through the lines.

They were wrong, We ALWAYS run the water in the sink and flush the toilet a few times, shower a good 5 minutes when we get to our cabin, tip from our cabin steward. "Sometimes" when you get to a port there is a backflush BUT what they told you SHOULD have been announced. PERIOD.

I agree with him. The restrooms on Celebrity cruise ships are smell really bad. My husband and I talked about how bad it smells but we didn't make a complain, but we heard some customers were making complains at customer service desk.

I had a similar stinky experience on the Norwegian Sun. We didn't even want to use our balcony sometimes because the whole back of the ship smelled like a sewer. I get that it isn't logistically possible we were smelling sewer but something on that ship was doing it's best impression of that odor.

Sadly the sewer smells come from people flushing things other than the cruise toilet paper. The "flushable" wipes (even baby wipes), feminine products and personal toilet paper should not be flushed down the toilet or it causes clogs and the melee ensues.

I’m glad they fixed whatever was going on with the water. The ship is a giant mechanical device, so sometimes stuff breaks. You still had a good day and that’s what counts. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Whoa! Scarey about the water on such a new ship. Another thing Celebrity needs to IMPROVE is their SERIOUS ATTENTION TO EXCURSIONS and animal abuse!! (ie: Dolphins in Mexico.)

I am booked on rhe Kuranda Train and skyway in late Octover. I booked through Celebrity, but then found it for less money through a 3rd party. Same excursion half the price.

Was on the Edge in February and there was no smell anywhere so maybe it’s because of the water issue they had

Celebrity sadly are starting to come undone at the seams. We will never sale with them again .After doing 8 cruises with them over the years we noticed that each cruise became progressively worse. Food , entertainment , lack of decent staff to name but a few of things that have definitely tailed off over the years.

We’re sailing on Edge in a few weeks. Please, let me know if you still experience any problem with the ship. Does it still stink? I know it happens on older ships, but Edge is not very old.

Whle you were on the excursion, they probably washed your clothing in that dirty water. Hope you didn't get a rash from that. To preclude further disappointments, I have only 3 words of advice: Seabourn; Silverseas; and Regent.... if you're gonna go.... go big.

I hate to say this but this can and will happen on every ship. They sail everyday and mechanical and other issues are destined to happen. Just Google Regent reviews and sewage and realize that even when we pay premium prices we aren't immune from encountering mechanical issues. Biggest thing is how each cruise line communicates and handles these types of issues.
