This week architects will start deconstructing the iconic Wayfarer's chapel with the goal of preserving the historic building. Anastassia Olmos reports for the NBC4 News on May 14, 2024.
Just over a 100 years ago, this area was sand dunes, with volatile movements. Now its underlying grounds are moving. Check the history of the land before you buy.
Designed by Lloyd Wright, the architect son of FLW. Lloyd was a fine architect on his own and is underrated. Yes, relocate and restore the Wayfarers Chapel.
It is a lovely chapel and means a great deal to many people. I hope the deconstruction is successful and that the chapel can be reassembled in a safe location of equal natural beauty.
Its a hilly mini mountain for a reason.... Sits adjacent to a major fault line, namely the Cabrillo Fault... Very active and moving all the time.... and in recently years the land movements on the Peninsula hills has increased dramatically ...It's actually deemed inevitable by geologists that it will be among the first parts of Southern California to be underneath the ocean in the unforeseeable future ... be it hundreds of years or thousands
This makes me feel sad but my Faith tells me it will be back up and as beautiful as ever. My husband and I married there. I never dreamed my wedding would be so beautiful and in the most beautiful church I ever imagined. Truly the most beautiful church and wedding.🙏❤️

Such a gorgeous , historical, icon🩵🤎!! I hope wherever it ends up it remains safe & intact ….. although it will be difficult to find a spot as amazing as it’s original location 💔💟☮️
The land sliding is too vast to stabilize, and it is also near a coast that can contribute to further soil erosion. It seems geologists haven't figured the whole reason for the movement, which is why it is safer to dismantle the important pieces of the area now while full assessment is being done.
Think of all the good that could have been accomplished without building that massive edifice to practice idolatry for your magic sky-fairy. Maybe doing good works isn’t building mega-churches while living in $25M mansions, owning multiple private jets, doing nothing but blindly tithing to a charlatan selling you magic beans for the afterlife.
Matthew 7:26-27 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it." Kinda Ironic for a "house of god"
