A visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida for their 30th anniversary . Star Studded Parade , New Food Options and Treats , Retro MGM Studios year all filled the day .
Loved seeing all the old memorabilia. I went to WDW for the first time in 1990, just after this park opened. There was something magical about it back then, when the old Hollywood vibe was out in full force.
Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers was my freakin' JAM. omg, I remember walking into a Disney Souvenir shop, seeing the plushies in their show outfits, and practically being beside myself (although my parents couldn't afford to buy them, so that was sad). This park in particular holds so many amazing memories of my childhood. Roger Rabbit, the Great Movie Ride (look, I will never be okay with that being gone)...and then in my teenage years I remember they had a Hercules parade that I HAD to see. Man...good times.

Typically I never comment on youtube videos but THANK YOU Adam. As I am only 23 it have fleeting memories of MGM but I still vividly remember the feeling it would get when I was younger. I love being able to live the memories again through your stories. Your narration really brings the memories back to life.
I miss these people that used to walk around in the streets and interact with us. I remember when we had that gangster guy the big guy. I've seen them a lot recently at the Tampa Bay Renaissance Festival. He plays the king
So many great memories of the good ol' MGM days. I fondly remember the backlot tour and have a picture of the Golden Girls house before it disappeared. ~sigh~

Does anybody remember a special day long arts program for kids? We were shown a lot of behind the scenes stuff, like the wardrobe department. I remember going under the park into the utilidors and there were a lot of secrets pointed out as we went through the parks. It was so cool. T he age range for our group was maybe 10 to 15 and there was about 6to 8 kids including my younger sister and I. I think I have the book and other materials they gave us but its been 28-29 years so they might be lost. I love DW. Some of my best childhood vacation memories are of Disney World. Thanks a million for sharing this rad vid man.

I was there at the end of May, 1989, after school got out for the summer. I was already in love with the movies, so this, for a while, became my favorite Disney park. As much as I'm looking forward to the upcoming new additions, I just wish they would have really stuck harder to the "theme" of the park as a working movie studio (even if it wasn't technically "working" anymore). Also...I too have that Taffy Movie Reel tin, somewhere in my closet at my folks home! Disney/MGM Studios forever!

I went to Disney when I was on the third grade and loved it at MGM Studios I think it was around the same time Ace Ventura 2 came out. I loved The Muppets show and I wish I had the money to go back again there again
I do miss the original Disney-MGM Studios... And you didn't dare call it just "MGM Studios" as my Supervisor when I worked there would get upset. "It's *DISNEY*-mgm Studios" he would emphasize. There was The Great Movie Ride, the Backstage Tour (that consisted of the tram and the walking tour), the Animation gallery, Superstar Television, the Monster Sound Show, and what we just called "Epic" which was the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. That was it. No Star Tours, no Sunset Blvd., no TOT, no Rockin' Rollercoaster... Also, I'm old school enough to call it New York Street (before it was Streets of America!) Even though it's changed so much in the last 30 years(!) this park will always hold a special place for me. :D
Also thanks for showing the Nazi get "smoked." Been awhile since I've seen that since the rain keeps cancelling that part of the show when I've caught it.
Yes! I always remembered it as New York Street! The tram used to stop in front of the arch so passengers could take photos of the forced perspective view of the street.
Remind me of National Lampoon's Vacation when they drive up to the theme park and there is no cars around and they go up and the guy behind the counter says it is closed

Wish I could have went. I am up in northern California so a wee bit to far. But I did buy a map on eaby for like 2 bucks so at least I got a little something from the annaversry. I really want to try to get out there for WDW 50th. I hope they do a muscial history of Disneyworld box set like they did with Disneyland. Of all the things in my collection that box set is my favortie. But with how CDs dont sell like they did back when Disneyland had their 50th I dont think we will see a box set like that come out for Disneyworld. But one can hope.

I miss old MGM so much! Such a shame The Great Movie Ride couldn't last to see the 30th anniversary (especially considering the new ride has a delayed opening). How great would it have been to ride GMR yesterday! Still love the nostalgia that still exists in that park but really miss the behind the scenes aspect. It made me fall in love with the entertainment business and helped guide me to the career I have today. Not gonna lie...I'm a sap...I cried through this whole dang video lol
As a teen, on a school trip, I spent a stupid amount of money on a MGM Studios jacket. Now, I wish I still had it since it's oldschool. I'm going to dig through my mom's closets.
Wow! That was really cool, you are so lucky to be able to enjoy going to Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Believe it or not but my Mother still has one of those box cameras like the one guy in your video has, they took those round flash bulbs that I don't think you can find any more. Can you imagine the antique value of that camera, unfortunately finding it in my Mother's house would be rather difficult since she's one of those hoarders. I am really enjoying watching your videos, they take me places that many of us can only dream about going to. God Bless You.
I watched the official Disney Parks 30th anniversary live stream and was disappointed in how boring it was. They didn't really talk about the history at all. So this video was awesome to see, thanks so much!
