Hi everyone:) I hope you enjoy it. So, all of these clips, characters and shows are created by Disney. Which makes you think if Disney is okay. (This is for all ages.) (including Coppa 13+)
I mean, having moved so many times and being unable to make long-term friends for a significant part of your childhood is bound to leave some psychological damage.
@@idkhowigothere I personally can’t relate to it, but I know there are a lot of kids out there who can, so I think it was definitely a good choice of character trait for the show to explore.
Belos and Bill are different levels of evil. Bill is charismatic, and you adore that guy even if he committed atrocities. Belos is literally just wizard H**ler.
@@justasuckerforbigcitygreen7185 The only person as far as i am aware that descended into insanity THAT hard is Chip. He almost killed a child and a family
Exactly, like, how tf are the Disney channel series capturing the overall esscense of Disney for it's 100th anniversary than the movie literally made to be that???
@@tiffanygwinn1603Theres already a bunch of shows for little kids made by Disney. Trash like Spidey Friends, Blue, abd the new show they make every week. We need more shows like these
@@glass6582Disney barely deserves credit for most of the awesome shows produced, since they're not writing it They're just banking off the success and then cancelling them
I swear though, I felt like it was such a good line and good development for her when she learned from her mistakes in the third season, it was heart breaking yes, but it was also an important lesson too
i do appreciate that disney is picking up stories like these but don't forget that it's the teams behind these shows that do the work! they literally would not have existed if not for the actual people putting love and work into it. every beautiful scene of animation, every raw line, every character arc has someone behind it.
@@lindmorn5909 well i mean Disney has been expanding the "Disney brand" to include darker, more serious content where before they were very adamant and strict about making only tame kid/family friendly content to maintain their image, even if other content might also make them money. i feel like its more of an active decision thats a little more than just making more money but maybe im giving them too much credit. the industry has been moving that way as a whole for a while now and Disney just semi-recently seems to be cashing in on it. you can tell by a lot of the newer shows like the ones in this video having darker themes, by Disney+ allowing R rated content, by big franchises like the MCU and Star Wars getting darker as they go on (at least with most of it). there's a clear shift happening, and whether or not it is because they realize that more people enjoy that type of storytelling and want to make their customers happy, that they see this is where the market is going and can make more money off an expanded audience, or both, i think its an overall positive
The ending to amphibia season 2 honestly made me cry And the ending to the owl house season 2 is just pure depression Season 2 is always a blast full of emotions
Then you had Gravity Falls season 2. Soos's absent father, Pacifica's life and character development, the bros, Bill almost killing Dipper and Mabel. _"I had to erase his mind in order to stop Bill. He has no idea but he saved the world. He saved me. You're our hero Stanley."_ Didn't like Ford as a character that much back then but that scene had me in tears
Well, a horror game about a depressed writer once said, "That's the thing about artists. You think they're all so clever with what they make. But deep down, the truth is that they only write about their problems and themselves." -Plus the whole game is just you, the 'protagonist', being the writer's character. You do crazy things as your 'friend', the writer's self-insert, starts going insane. And then at the end of the game is where you find out that the writer had a rough childhood and his dad wanted him to be a famous business man but his passion was in the arts. So he persued that, and now he's a starving artist with a lot of bills, a meddling wife, and a dying son who's merely the age of 8...-
this is exactly why these disney shows are so addicting. It's relatable and straight to the point that even teens can enjoy it and a harsh reality you can learn from them, I really enjoy all of these shows except molly and the ghost since I haven't watched it yet. Also it's really funny seeing them look like a whole drunk mess
Watch Molly too. It's really great, but with a more comedy episodic focus. And if you wanna double down on the comedy, Watch Big City Greens. It's great!
Idk what shows you have seen but IMO there are darker themes in One Piece than Amphibia much less smth like AoT, FMAB, Rick and Morty, Vinland Saga, and even stuff like Owl House.
Y'all, stop giving credit to Disney. It's disrespectful to the creators who put their hearts and souls into these series. Disney gave them such a hard time while they were creating these shows. Give more love to the creators!
Man, why did Matt invent the most perfect and wholesome character ever and then just use her to traumatize hundreds of people. Marcy’s scream in that scene is the most haunting thing I have ever heard Edit: Guys, stop hating on this moment or it’s voice acting in the replies please. If you didn’t like it, then you don’t have to be mean and ruin it for everyone else. Also, to all you saying things about a “voice crack”: 1) Its clearly intentional or they would have used a different take, and 2) Why would you expect a 13 year old girl screaming out of fear for her life, being forcefully possessed while unable to move, to not react like that. OF COURSE her voice cracks during that scream, she has completely expended it but is still in crippling agony!
Nothing like killing/possessing one of the main characters, trust me Disney is asking the same question. Edit: holy shit I forgot about this comment nearly 500 likes thank you.
I mean first with the reveal that Marcy got her friends stranded in a dangerous world, then was impaled by Andrias, and recently was possessed by a super computer composed of some of Amphibia's greatest minds.
Dana and Matt patting eachother on the back after showing a 13 year old getting impaled and mind controlled and a 16 year old be domestically abused and show suicidal ideation
The underplaying of Molly Mcgee's emotional state is kinda funny considering she has never had any real friends until Scratch and Libby. It tears her apart to be alone even for a moment and it's honestly heartbreaking. Even in the intro song, "I'll never ever ever be alone again". It's just a funny detail in a show that is pretty much comedy centered with no real overarching threat
Oh hoh hoh. I felt Molly McGee's emotional state the moment I laid eyes on the show. After Gravity Falls, and Star Vs, it's just a matter of time before the funny haha show becomes haha nightmare show.
All of this looks disturbing out of context, but it illustrates the priority Disney has given to acknowledging mental health issues in children. Too many adults overestimate the mental resilience and innocence of children, even while refusing to confront the damage they carry within them as a result of childhood trauma. These shows, and films like "Inside Out", "Big Hero 6", and the recently released "Turning Red" are admitting that childhood is not always a sunny, happy, wonderful time. They tell us that negative emotions like guilt, grief, shame, and frustration are normal, and they need to be confronted and healed lest they metastasize into something worse later.
@@playstation.e7703 Hhhh... it's metaphorical. Watching someone battle an evil wizard or a demon is almost always entertaining. Watching someone battle the more mundane forms of psychological trauma often isn't.
@@weikwang7881 See, now that's the kind of scare and trauma exposure kids don't need... as opposed to shows like this, that handle it within the cushion of fantasy and make-believe.
1:31 Marcy’s dialogue was SO GOOD here. From the script to the VA’s delivery to the animation was just *chef’s kiss*. The desperation in her voice covered in a thin layer of accomplishment ❤
amphibia is the most traumatizing, sad, and brutal series i could ever watch. i cannot believe i even had the BALLS to watch a show as serious as this. disney is really good when it comes to things like this
If you're having a bad day, just say to yourself: _"At least I'm not a teen girl in an animated disney show"_ Edit: OOOOH MY GOD SHUT UP ABOUT HUNTER I KNOW HE'S A BOY I WAS MAKING A JOKE
@@Chonkee Let’s see: >Either a parent that you’re close to has died, or they got divorced >Getting separated from them via getting thrown into a fantasy world or similar >getting parental figures, and a quirky sidekick, and maybe even a crush or not >Then have it all stripped away from you as the BBEG plans on invading reality or something. Idk. I’m just the messenger. So, yeah- RIP them Oh yeah also being able to survive things that’d normally kill/fatally injure you, and having the pain tolerance of a brick. F u n .
*And let’s not forget that time when Mabel caused the apocalypse, Dipper got possessed, Ford turned into a gold statue, a man was tortured, everyone turned into stone/wood (different occasions), and Gideon invaded their property privacy.* Edit: mOm iM fAmOuS
Here’s the thing. With movies, it’s Disney department’s specifically that’s making them. But with Disney Channel, they partner with independent creators who’s actually passionate about their work and actually wants to create a good show.
I mean, they are cutting one of this shows because it doesn't "fit the brand" that they wanna sell to China, so... If they have to choose, they definitely go for Quantity (money-wise I guess)
one thing i love about the part where marcy gets stabbed is, when it happens, no dramatic music, no screaming at first just... deafening silence. It feels more solemn and shocking
Reminds me when in an episode it cut back to a previous episode and the character is singing and happy and then it suddenly cuts to that very same character with a sword in her chest. No music. Just quiet- actually that also reminds me of that one other chilling epsiode. No music, little sound, just the chilling fact of what has happened... ( I'm talking about Buffy the vampire slayer, but that still counts tbh )
I feel like Disney may be getting too much credit for some of these. Yes they produced them, but they also fought as hard as they could to cancel them once they saw the subject matter
The difference in stakes between Hunter and Marcy vs Molly is funny. I don't really read Molly as loosing her mind, but being stubborn and trying to convince herself she made the right decisions by literally preforming her happiness.
And now Hunter is traumatized for life Marcy is probably not gonna remember anything Anne and Sasha pretend Marcy is okay unaware she's possessed And Molly's grasp on sanity will probably remain absolute. Update : Luz Amity Willow Gus and Hunter are all traumatized for life now Calamity trio probably got the help they needed in the 10 years that passed since their adventure And now we'll probably see Molly further lose her sanity by the time the season finale airs
@@multiverse_media2023 So far the calamity trio seems to be fine While the witches seem to be scarred for life And now they are gonna mentally break Molly
And they mentally broke Molly I wasn't expecting that to happen But I guess you can't be a Disney protagonist without having to go through a phase of insanity and depression
you should watch tangled the series. surprisingly angsty and sad for a princess movie spinoff. also has a gay character although they dont say it in the show, you can really tell, plus some of the people who worked on it have conffirmed it
just dropping in to add the mandatory comment that *Disney* didn't do this, it was the show's creators! show creators often have to fight to include things in their shows that challenge notions of what's "family-friendly" (ranging from stuff like this to showing LGBTQ+ characters onscreen, etc). Disney aired it, but it's important to give credit to the people who chose to create it (and ask for it to be included) in the first place!
3:18 I'm sorry but I can't help but laugh at the lil fella lmao look at his face 😧 ok it's actually sad ofc but also the first part of the slow fall before the music begins x') oh dang they actually portray ssadness and grief really well wtf I might cry now
Disney tva fans: oh no these babies need therapy Kingdom hearts fans: it’s way past time you learn what real hurt feels like Edit: this age horrible after reaching out
@@fefek1 And there’s many hints that Anne will lose an arm, and I believe her right arm in particular. Don’t know what Marcy will theoretically lose. She does have the stab wound from Andrias, and she did break her leg in her Take Over song… Anne loses an arm Sasha loses an eye Marcy (MIGHT) lose her foot/leg
Lmao I was in the hospital for a really bad gut infection when I watched true colors. I was high on morphine watching the funny frog show. It was surreal. Somehow my brain totally forgot the fact Marcy gets freaking STABBED and when I watched the episode again I was absolutely shocked.
I have a theory that since Molly moves a lot she has this picture of what friends are supposed to do so if people don’t live up to that expectation then she starts acting a bit crazy
hmm I can relate on some level. I transferred a lot so I guess that sort of stopped me from making real connections but at the same time I craved them. Haha my own versions of friends just live in my head rent free.. after 20 years, I can't let them go now🤣
Hunter is a relatable icon. Imagine he'd be real... That sort of person needs feeling the embrace of life. His angst erupted and tore him apart severely. He lived, sure, but those marks... I can't put "beauty" before it.
@Pandora owl house and amphibia are definitely not apecifically aimed for 9 year olds, id say more like tweens to teenagers for sure. their plots are very complex and deal with many mature themes, as a 16 yr old i can say ive cried more than once while watching both shows LMAO
Same. They seem like they'd be into a lot of similar activities if they lived in the same world, lol. Oh... you meant being trauma buddies, didn't you? 😅
@@sinistertrench1724 Yeah but that doesn't mean that should be the only media that can safely represent queer people (and even then, it's infamous for often times not doing it well. The words Yaoi and Yuri come to mind, although the former is worse than the later). Queer rep is not a threat to children, and if anything, it can be helpful for kids to learn about multiple experiences and potentially see people like them on screen. And on top of that, manga and anime aren't for everyone. People want variety in the media they consume, and they should be able to have that.
It’s things like this that really make you see the relation all these shows have in the same way if you look at all the CN shows that came out after chowder have very similar philosophies in terms of how to tell a story.
After True Colors: Aldrich, in the core: How was your day, son? Andrias: Same ol’, destroyed a lifelong friendship and killed a child, just the same ol’ boring day.
To be fair with Anne was an actual sad moment anyone would react like she did. In any case Molly is the craziest one the rest are depressed and dying inside
Weirdmeggadon as a whole was EXTREMELY disturbing (gravity falls) and the scene in season 2 episode 10 when dipper and pacfica go to the "problem room" was terrifying
@@lucidifying Weirdmageddon was kinda just “here’s some quick body horror and a terrifying rant, okay we’re done with the bad stuff it’s all pretty whatever from here.”
i got kind of mad at how much Disney let some shows get away with like, if Gravity Falls or any other good show from around then tried any of this they wouldve been immediately taken off of Disney
@@randomfandomcreator2376 that's the point my dear, i don't want a dumb cartoon to watch, i want stories and deep meaning, i want to see character development. And kids aren't dumb, they deserve to watch a deeper and more meaningful cartoon with a cool story.
I will always compliment Amphibia for acknowledging, that being stranded in a magical alien world is a fucking nightmare. Yeah, Anne and Sasha grew as a person and found people they genuinely care about but the entire planet is a death world, where every second thing wants you dead. And that's not even mentioning the reborn imperialist fascist empire with combat bots, using plasma weaponry.
They're fine. They're just going back to their roots. Remember when they killed Bambi's mom? Or how the kids in Pinocchio got kidnapped and turned into donkeys (I don't think they were rescued by the way)? What about Snow White going through a scary forest? The Lion King was the first Disney film to show a corpse on screen. Seriously thou, these clips are normal for Disney
Would snow White not take the corpse top spot. I mean they did think she was dead, they even put her in a glass coffin so they could see her corpse. Not their fault the Prince she'd had a meet cute with just happened by and had a thing for necrophilia. Seriously don't think about fairytales. It's like walking through a wood at night, suddenly there's monsters everywhere lol
Thanks Disney this made my self continue watching Disney because AFTER FREAKING ALL THIS YEARS YOU FINNALLY MADE SOMETHING DARK, SERIOUS, MAINIACALY AWESOME
Yeah, as much as we can’t really blame Marcy for acting so hastily, she didn’t do the things she did because she valued her friends or their lives, she did all that because she didn’t want to lose them from being part of her own life. And once the jig was up & Andrias revealed the truth, all that fear & desperation came flooding back. She would say anything to stop her friends from leaving her, but all her desperate pleas did was show just how selfish & unhinged she really was. Only trying to make things right with them when it was ultimately too late to do so. And now, those friends will soon have to face the monster that she’s since become (against her own will by an ancient A.I.) and we’ll see just how much is left of her mind to salvage in the aftermath.
Before I knew what Amphibia was, I saw this and was like “what is that show” and when i saw it in the show i was so sad because i saw everything that happened here before i could react to it myself 😭
@@zanir2387 Let's see, what's one thing I can use as an example... oh, I know. SPOILERS A main character is forced to kill one of his best friends, then is defeated in an attempt to bring her back, loses all of his memories of her, loses all of his memories in general, is placed into a simulation with a false life and false memories, over the course of a week experiences that simulation and the life he thinks he has crumbling around him, regains his old memories (except for those of his best friend) just before having to kill his OTHER best friend (who survives, but like... he doesn't know that at the time), and then gives up his existence in order to bring back another main character, one that he personally sees as the cause of his suffering.
