+Iamstickman the funny part is that I laughed as soon as I heard that, then my eyes landed on that exact comment moments later. Couldn't be more right!
Computer: "Gamers must battle through 10 worlds with over 100 Disney characters, from movies such as Nightmare Before Christmas, Aladdin, Alice in Wonderland, The Lion King, Hercules... Oh! And there's also a bunch of characters from the Final Fantas--" Kid: "I GET IT! It's like you're controlling the movies!" Computer: "Um... well, not exactly. In fact it's really nothing like that. It's more like a 3D take on the Mana series with a Disney/Final Fantasy motif." Kid: "The what series with a what motif?" Computer: "Y'know, Final Fantasy? ...Secret of Mana? ...Square Soft?" Kid: "Um..." Computer: "Jesus kid, go buy a Super Nintendo!" Kid: "A super what?" Computer: "..." Kid: "..." Computer: "...Maybe just use the internet like a regular person next time, kay?"
I will ALWAYS feel terrible for misjudging Kingdom Hearts by this commercial. When I first saw this commercial, I thought (eh, whatevs). But this game really turned out to be a success. Having been a gamer since I was 7 (I'm now 22), I can call KH a gold mine for gaming. Actually, as I grew older, I heard all sorts of great things about Kingdom Hearts through my high school buddies. In fact, back in 2011, my girlfriend at the time got me to play the original on the PS2 with her and I thought "shit, I was so fucking wrong about this game, it's fun and it's deep." I now happily own the 1.5 and 2.5 ReMixes for the PS3 (I'm currently working on KHII Final Mix), I will be pre-ordering III for my PS4 and I'll actually be cosplaying as Roxas at Anime Expo 2015 so look out for me ;P
I was stuck at traverse town for 5 years until I learn you just gotta exit the entrance and control the gummi ship to other worlds. It’s true it was hard when I was 7
Highkey feel sorry kids growing up in this generation watching the Disney Channel that they have now compared to what we had back in the early 2000’s. You don’t see shit like this anymore
I have been looking EVERYWHERE for this and finally found it!! I'm so happy 😭😭 I remember seeing this!! I was like 11 or something and I wanted the game so bad. I'm now 23 and still am up to date with the game. The nostalgia man...it's unreal.
TheCooky Kommi it comes out this year and im sooo excited because it will be my first kingdom hearts game since I was wasn't even born when the first game came out
"It's like you're controlling the movies!" "Give me the cheat codes!" If I may pull a quote from an old meme: "That's not how it works! That's not how any of this works!"
A long time ago, before I was who I am, i remember watching this commercial, or one like it. I thought this game was just a cash grab and would be terrible. Not worth my time. Judging by my name, I have eaten those words about 13 times by now.
Omg I just got punched by nostalgia. I remember how HUGE this game release was back then! It was 2002, I was 8-years-old, and my mom got it for me along with a PS2 for Christmas. I remember her telling me how everyone was getting this new, mysterious game. I saw this promo for it all the time, and YES - the game indeed lived up to all the hype! And beyond. The most epic, beautiful and heartfelt video games I ever played. ❤
When you compare it to the later games of the series, it really shows you just how far Square Enix has come. They always say that the first game in a franchise is considered to be the most timeless, and KH1 is no exception. I feel honored to have experienced Sora's growth as a keyblade wielder for all these 17 years. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this game has played a *HUGE* part in my life and I've gotta say my thanks to the people at Square Enix (especially Tetsuya Nomura) for giving us such an amazing series. Man to think it all started with a simple elevator conversation...
Thank you for uploading this! I've been looking for this commercial for years! I remember all the commercials for KH back in 2002 and I was hyped and I thought this looked cool. I was excited when I got a PS2 and the game for Christmas the same year. I've been a KH fan since then.
If the kid in this commercial is indeed Haley Joel Osment, it seems his voice at the time was transitioning from the way it sounded in KH1 to his current voice from KH2 onwards. I guess in-universe this is technically how Sora's voice should have sounded like in Chain of Memories.
I always remember this commercial because of the line "What's the deal with Kingdom Hearts?" I had to look up this ad because I wasn't sure if I was making it up.
ARE YOU ME!? I've been trying to find this commercial for YEARS as well, and also for this version of the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE LINK!
I remember this Commercial! It was there when I was little! It was such a Crack Up! I even see these uncover ads on disney channel throughout the years. The last one I saw was Stitch's Great Escape! Thanks for Uploading this! It means a lot of Memories to me! You Rock!
At 1:08 " a new real time battle engine that has never been seen before" wasn't this game inspired by Super Mario 64 with it's 3D environment and combat and brought Disney into the project because they didn't want to use Mario, i get it if they meant " real time RPG battle engine"
The year is 2002 and Kingdom Hearts was launched on March 28th and you played it on a Playstation 2 and everything felt right with the world... 19 years ago... almost 2 entire decades ago. Let that sink in. 💔
I love, no adore this game. I got KH 2 on accident because the II was inside the heart logo and barely visible so I had 1 kind of spoil for me due to the storyline but it was great fun and I've had so many find memories. Also if anyone understands what I mean, being a fan of this series is my friendship fuel.
THIS is the commercial that I first ever heard of Kingdom Hearts. I was either 10 or 11 y.o. I remember borrowing this game from my friend, fell in love, and then simply got my own copy. This game helped me survive middle school. I remember completing this game 100%, but it certainly took me some time. I remember Sephiroth being one of the toughest bosses ever. The Ultima Weapon took forever to make. And when I saw the secret ending, I had never been so excited.
I remember watching this commercial as a kid and just wanting to play it so bad. I got a ps2 for Christmas along with this game and it's been my favorite franchise sense.
God, I have such a visceral memory of seeing this commercial and being absolutely out of my mind with excitement. I was 12 and was hit so hard in the feels - of course my brother had to play it first, so had to avoid his game play to avoid spoilers. What a time!
I remember seeing this wanting a PS2 for this game. I knew more about Disney than Final Fantasy then. Monumental game I'm glad I played when it was out
I remember getting this game on PS2 I had KFC that night after I was done I washed my hands opened the game popped it in and couldn't figure out what to do on Destiny islands then 5 years later I found my copy of kingdom hearts in a CD soft disc case popped it in got passed destiny islands and oh my gosh I was addicted still play it to this day on PS4 with the 1.5+2.5 remix
Man I remember seeing this commercial when I was about 8 years old. Too bad I didn't get into the Kingdom Hearts games until about 4 years later when Kingdom Hearts II was about to be released. Lol at 0:50 when she made it seem like it was that The Lion King would be a world to play in the first Kingdom Hearts game but wasn't till Kingdom Hearts II lmao.
Oh my god! I remember these commercials! I think it was a different game and/or product every time! I've must've missed this specific commercial when it aired. I would've been a KH fan since the beginning if I saw it. Oh well, at least I started around Kingdom Hearts II. But seriously, what a hit of nostalgia I got! Thank you for posting this!
*Program names Lion King in the list of worlds to explore* hAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHA- wait did this world predict Pride Lands in KH2?
