Our Disney WISH Cruise HONEST REVIEW | Dining Disaster, Motion Sickness, & Will We Go AGAIN? Come Along with Me for "ALL THE GOOD THINGS!" From Disney World And Beyond! Instagram: thepromiseh...
Something people don’t realize is you can request ice from your room steward. They bring a bucket and if you want really cold beer ask for a salt shaker and add salt to the ice and sink your beer in there. Also the water in the bathroom is perfectly fine to add to your water bottle.
@@PromiseHopeyes and you can ask for fresh ice daily and they will deliver! Also, under “On board gifts” you can buy bottled water and they can have it delivered to your room. We drink tons of water when we cruise, so this is something a little more convenient…although, it is Desani, so we brought our own bottled water 😂
Yes we did that and refilled them in the buffet area on our Carnival cruise. We also had a large water bottle that we refilled. My best friend is a frequent cruiser so she gave us a heads up about that.
We filled our water bottles when we ate...our servers even knew to bring ice and a big jug of water to fill us up as we left the table...Bars should also fill up your own water bottles...for future reference! Our first cruise, we got suckered into buying the bag cooler filled with Dasani in metal bottles...total rip off, so we learned from that experience! Glad to hear you'll still go back!! We LOVED the Dream over the Wish...
Yes, you will find areas to refill a water bottle onboard. If you will be sailing aboard the Disney Wish, you can find these water-filling stations along the Shipside Promenade on Deck 4 and Deck 5 on the port side of the ship. This is also where you will find water fountains for a quick sip if you don't have a water bottle with you
We didn’t like the drawer fridge either, but I’m thinking maybe something was wrong with the temp on yours. We always ask for a bucket of ice and champagne glasses! I agree that we preferred the actual food at Marceline Market to the food at dinner, but we did enjoy the experiences and our servers. I would NOT be happy to have a sick server, that’s insane!!! Also the sitting alone thing, it feels like DCL is getting worse with this. We used to get our own table easy, but lately we’ve had to ask and even change dining times to get a table alone. It’s like you said, we have our own lives we just want to sit just us and enjoy our our cruise with some privacy at dinner. It’s not comfortable to be squished with others. We also had the same complaints about arendelle, last time we could barely see the show and I just had to joke about it in my video bc I could barely see a thing and the lights were bad. 1923 was our fave too. And castaway cay is amazing. I agree with pretty much all of this, very reasonable takes. Also see u soon! 💕
What a great commentary! Thank you Promise! My husband and I have never been on a cruise, and you brought up quite a bit of our fears and I appreciate your input. Thanks! Glad you guys are home safe! ❤
Hey guys! Never been on a cruise, but thanks for keeping it real👍 So many vloggers hype everything up. I really appreciate the honest truth😊 Love you guys😊👍🏰💖💐😊
It's always so hard for me to complain because for the most part, I am pretty easy to please, but they're definitely worth some hiccups in this cruise!
The rotational dining is assigned with other passengers on almost every cruise. It's to get you to 'socialize' with the other passengers. I've heard of large parties being interspersed with other groups occasionally. Back in "the day", I think mixing the guests worked better than it does in the era since covid. Thanks for the honest review.
Loved your videos! They’re super helpful This will be my first Disney cruise in July on the wish! However Disney being Disney you gotta do your research well beforehand because there’s so many videos out there with tips and tricks. For example another vlogger mentioned the ice situation and said you can request ice thru room service, as well as where the water refill stations are. Im from Anaheim so I go to the parks a lot over here in Cali and we always refill out water jugs at dinner or whatever sit down restaurant we’re at. 🥰 I’m doing a 4 night cruise and I don’t want to miss anything with the amount that we’re paying so I gotta feel like I’m armed with a bunch of knowledge for the cruise. 💗
Thanks for the honest review!! We sailed on the Fantasy last year for our first DCL trip and fell in love with cruising. Even with some of the things that weren’t as magical as we expected, it was still the best vacation I’ve ever taken. My family only wants to cruise now, but I still need my WDW time.
Hi there Promise & Travis. A three day cruise is a sampler, not long enough to have an informed opinion. But I understand why you chose that because of the motion sickness concerns. Glad to hear that you'll try again, and hopefully you'll have friends an/or family to join you due to the dinner seating.
OMG finally a real review thank you so much. Every time I see the restaurants on Disney cruise ships there is maybe one thing I would like. Plus I am very friendly but I do not want to do communal dining. Would they have brought you a ice bucket for your champagne? I dont know I think for that kind of money you have a right for top notch service. I watch all your vlogs and you and travis are not difficult people at all.
Thank you so much. It's definitely hard for us to complain and in the moment we were just so happy to be there that it took some time for us to feel these thoughts once we got home.👍
That was a great review - really appreciate the honesty especially from first time cruisers. I would love to see you sail with Royal Caribbean or NCL - they have anytime dining and tables for two- we never have an issue getting a table just for us. Food in the main dining rooms on most ships seem to be average anymore but RCCL and NCL have a decent buffet open for dinner. I think the cruise lines try to lure you in with better food at the speciality dining venues.
A fair review of DCL, rotational dining isn’t for me either, and I’ve worked for DCL. Hacks are you can always ask in advance for things from other restaurants if you don’t like the menu and they will bring it. But all cruises normally put you with other guest. I’m with you about keeping the buffet open! Take advantage of room service! Great vlog as always!!
Heads up, most cruise lines allow you to bring cases of water on board with you but they all make you carry it on. Kinda stinks but i've always found it to be worth it. Appreciate the review and heads up on the drawer vs fridge as we are traveling on the wish in a couple of months. I know you liked using the port near home, but our first Disney Cruise was on the Magic out of Miami. Its smaller and the oldest in the fleet but updated and the best description we heard of it and can use for it is "intimate" our dining staff was AMAZING (knew us by name from the moment we walked in) and the Tangled show with dinner was great. Maybe you'd like that more, you know...the old tried and true. Also, the hotel DCL uses in Miami has an Office Depot right across the street. Case of 24 waters was $5.
Really appreciate the honest and down to earth review! I had no idea that they sat couples together, I would be so mad if I paid all that money and they sat me with other people, always thought I was grumpy for feeling that way so it’s nice to hear it’s not just me 😅
We just got off the Wish today! We had no kids, and they sat us with another couple-no kids, and 2 women besties-no kids, and we had great conversation and a lot of laughs. But true, you never know who you’ll sit with, but they do try and match you up with similar. It may be a hit or miss, but usually, it’s awkward at first, but you learn a lot from others who have cruised a lot, what to see, what to avoid, etc. not great if you sit with a bunch of stick in the muds though.
I agree about the water station being way out of the way on deck 11. And it was always so crowded waiting in line, but I ended up finding a little water station on Deck 5 at Senses Fitness Center that was never crowded and easier to get to. They even had a sparkling water dispenser there in addition to regular water. That's my hack suggestion If you ever go again, but don't tell everyone or it will be crowded there for me If I ever go on the Wish again 😂😂
How great to see an honest review! Told it like it is! Royal Caribbean and Carnival have buffets breakfast, lunch and dinner and they are Really good!!! But if you want the sit down dinners, you can do those, none of this rotational dining stuff! I Always see videos where they act like Disney Cruise restaurants are SO great and I Always say to myself, that food looked terrible lol also, the other Cruise lines are more affordable, Disney Cruises are SO much $$$$$$ and you definitely shouldn't have to sit with anyone else! Some vloggers, won't say names lol practically live on only Disney Cruises, nice to have that kind of money, but doesn't mean there aren't better options!
Great honest review, thanks! When we went on the Disney Dream we brought a carry-on of bottled water and then used the suitcase for souvenirs coming off the ship. I loved the shows, but was not a fan of eating with other people. Peace, love, and positivity!
Appreciate all the tips. My sister has only gone on a Disney cruise before. She said she will never go on any other cruise line. I’ve gone on a Royal Caribbean and I enjoyed myself. We plan on taking an Alaskan Disney cruise September 2025. It’ll be my first Disney Cruise. I am looking forward to it.
Hi Guys!! 👋 Great review of your Disney Cruise 🛳. Thanks for the valuable info. I can't get over the $50.00 plus class for an Old Fashion!!! 😱 All I can say is, "it better be the best Whiskey in the world!!"
Yes, it was definitely a treat for Travis. We don't usually spend that sort of money on cocktails like he said it was more of a class we were in there and he was making that drink for like almost an hour.
I have been on every ship multiple times. We have been on 14 cruises. My husband and I have always requested a private table and Disney came through. Our servers are the reason we love the rotational dining. May I recommend your next cruise 5 or more nights. Our favorite right now is the 7 night Disney Fantasy. Also side note order the water to your room ahead of time. It’s expensive but well worth it. We use it when we do not feel like going up to the deck. I bring my Stanley and it keeps ice most of the day. The Wish is different than the original 4 ships. I prefer those ships more. Good luck don’t give up. I live 10 min from Disneyland and go to Disney World 4 times a year. Love the parks but would choose a cruise over both!!!
I would try the rotational on other ships. I agree with you on the rotational but only on the Wish. I prefer the food on other ships for dining but the quick service on the Wish is stellar. Also the other ships have a refrigerator. I would try the other ships to see if you feel the same. The Wish is beautiful but not my favorite ship. Next time try the water at the fitness center. They usually have a lemon or cucumber option.
Glad you had a fun cruise! We've been on all 5 of the Disney Ships (some a couple times) and i TOTALLY agree about the rotational dining on The Wish. They built the dining rooms too small, you're crowded even more with strangers, and theres really no space for them to give couples or even families of 4 their own tables. Our favorite ships are the 2 smaller ones- The Wonder and The Magic. We did a cruise as a couple on The Magic last year and had our own table, it was so much nicer!! I would definitely suggest you try a cruise on one of the OG ships, for sure! Great video :-)
Disney Wish is a very very expensive Disney cruise ship. That said, is not a "luxury" experience but faux. I prefer Disney Fantasy/Dream for a more "adult" Disney experience. The crew on Wish experiences a very high turn over of customers and are exhausted (because of short 3-4 days itineraries). To exaggerate my point, you can probably get a 5-7 nights on the older ships for your 3-4 nights on the Wish. Food is so-so. Sweets are great. When I want to enjoy and relax on a cruise? I take Celebrity Aquaclass. Same money for an Oceanview on Disney with a real luxury treatment and included exclusive restaurant (just you and partner) and unlimited access to the thermal suits.
I agree...with the dining....i liked the marcelline market better too...yikes i would have had said something about server. I have always gone with family but next trip just going with one other person. We did request to be seated separately...we will see..lol.
We love everyone sat with on are cruise in 2018 but I was nervous because friends when the year before us they didn’t enjoy there group. We were on magic . Going on the fantasy next year
This was a good review! I also don't like sitting with strangers at dinner. If you book concierge level, you get a table to yourselves. On the Dream, there are several options like Remy and Palo that you can do instead of rotational dining at an extra cost and they're both amazing. I'm not sure about the other ships.
Thank you for your comment! I think that's what we were disappointed with as we knew there were extra paying dining that we could do, but we just wish that the dining that we paid for already was also good😫
Honest reviews are important as many first timers don't know what to expect. Lots of Tic Tocs reflecting horrible conditions and plus there's always going to negativity with anything. I haven't been on a Disney cruise for a bit, but I often compare them to others because Disney still is considered a very top tier cruise line. The ships are beautiful and are absolutely the best overall in cruising. However, if you're willing to go to Miami and enjoy adults-only cruising consider Virgin Voyages. It's priced extremely well and the food is amazing as well as the drink prices are very reasonable. The rooms are very nice and trendy as well as the rest of the ship. I will say that you'll probably start trying other cruise brands and when you do you'll compare them to Disney. Enjoy!!
My fiancé and I just went on our very first cruise on the Wish last weekend and had similar criticisms. Although I don’t think our server was sick, we didn’t have exceptional service like we would get at the parks and noticed other servers being super friendly with other tables and we felt like we got the short end of the stick. We were sad we didn’t get to eat at Marceline Market as much as we wanted because of the limited hours too. Castaway Cay was everything we hoped for though and we’d love to try a sailing that goes to both Castaway and the new Lookout Cay!
Thank you for the review of your cruise. My wife and I are sailing a back to back cruise for the first time on The Wish March 2025. Getting a table for you and partner only is hit and miss. We’ve sailed twice on The Fantasy. Put a request in for both sailings first and table for just the two of us. The one sailing we were sat with another couple. The second sailing, we got a table to ourselves.
I would also try another cruise line like celebrity, which has amazing food, so you can compare it. Also next time when you board, head right to the matre d and request a table for 2 (a tip goes a long way at getting your request)
We went on the Wonder in Australia in January and loved it. We were offered our own table but I completely agree with you about seeing the service provided to a family verses a couple... More so as we don't drink alcohol so they would get commission from their drinks sales and we would be ignored as non drinkers. I hope you get to try a longer cruise on the smaller ships.
That is just awful… That's what didn't make sense to me is because we are drinkers and they were not catering to us nor even bringing us a drink menu without us having to ask😱
Wish was our 5th DCL cruise and our last. Didn’t live up to our past experiences and expectations. Highly recommend trying other lines. Celebrity Edge class ships are amazing!
I agree with you about the Wish. Try the Fantasy or the Dream way better was able to as a couple. Also wish the buffet was open at night or at least offered something more than burgers and chicken nuggets.
I don’t blame you with mentioning your not so good experiences on the cruise. Disney should listen to guest feedback and do better. My daughter and I only get to go to Disney World once about every 2 years since we live in Pennsylvania and we have had some not so great experiences there as well, with a few incidents involving cast members who could of had more kinder appropriate behaviors. We still love Disney though even though the cost is a bit more than we can afford. We were just there for a week last month. Love you both! You are a cute couple and make great videos! 😊
We just did our first cruise on another cruise line and we felt the same about pretty much everything you said here. We weren’t super impressed with the food, the fridge in our room didn’t fridge lol, we had to sit super close to strangers and we wanted to have a romantic time, and I eat like Travis so I also struggled to find good dishes. Also, the ice issue and finding cold water. Like I said ours was another cruise line and we experienced the same things and felt the same way. We had spent a week after our cruise in Orlando at a resort and realized we are resort people. It’s refreshing to see we aren’t alone in how we felt. ♥️
That’s so sad your servers weren’t up to par. That server shouldn’t have been allowed to serve you if they were sick. I agree with you about the food on the Wish. 1923 was definitely the best. Hopefully you can try the Fantasy or Magic out of Florida…better food for sure.
My first cruise was the Wish. Then Fantasy and then Wonder. Fantasy is probably my favorite, but I also love the Wonder. I’m doing the Magic in fall. I don’t think I will do the Wish again. The other ships are sooooo much better.
If you don’t keep a card in the card slot you don’t have power in the room, hence the fridge won’t keep things cold. It doesn’t have to be a room key.. you can put a gift card in the slot. Try that next time.
We got off the Wish the day you guys got on! We were SOOO disappointed by the food. For the cost of the cruise, the quality and variety of the food was not meeting expectations.
We requested a 2 people private table as soon as we got on the ship and were accommodated. I can’t remember who told me but they requested it before hand and were told not guaranteed but got it.
I know I wish we would've been accommodated. I even called three weeks before the cruise to request it and they told me on the phone it should be no problem, but yet it still was:(
Wow you really suffer from motion sickness. Kuddos that you went on & had fun. A big huge reason that I don't cruise is, if I can't do concierge level & afford to be accommodated then I have to skip out. Just not interested in fried, greasy food. I like to cook with my beef tallow, organic grass-fed beef, wild caught salmon, drink our reverse osmosis water. Just too dang particular. At least when we go to WDW we can bring our dog & stay in a suite & prep & cook our food. The food/water is a huge aspect. I would have to fill up all our 40oz/growler hydroflasks with our water.
I’ve always requested and gotten a table for 2. Did you do 2nd dining, that is usually better. The Wish’s dining is very crowded🥴 I think you would love Palo brunch👍🏼 Precovid Disney offered dining in the buffet, it was still served and sitdown but it made the dining rooms less crowded and gave people options. I think this was really good for families. The Disney fans don’t like to hear it but dcl has reduced staff and sadly it shows (like continuing to make someone work sick🤦🏻♀️). I’ve been on all the ships and I like the Magic and wonder best. Longer cruises are always better.
I think its luck on the private table. We went on the Fantasy for the first time last year and our request for a private table was accommodated. I think the older ships arent as popular, so they can spread guests out more. Our servers were the highlight of out trip, so I think you need a re-do!
I did my first disney cruise in europe on the dream last summer. 2 girls thankfully we could sit alone...we had no interest sitting with others. I agree 100% with the servers ours sucked...and i dont eat seafood and agree i didnt love the choices. I wish they had a buffet opened not just sit down. Especially on a 7 night you dont want to do all dinning rooms. Loved the shows 100% better than any other cruise lines.
We love Disney cruises but other cruise line do some things better. Royal, Carnival, Celebrity will give you a private table for dinner and they have a buffet option every night.
Also wanted to add that you can order as much as you want. If you didn’t fill satisfied with the amount you were given you are able to order multiple entrees, appetizers, etc.
Most cruise ship will sit couples with other tables. Some times is fun, sometimes not. The main dining food to me has always been more of a cafeteria quality that’s a little sub par. Your room steward should have been able to bring you ice. Since Disney doesn’t have gambling, they have to make their $ another way
I don’t know if you know there is 24 hr free room service. And they will bring you ice for your bucket. Oh and Mickey premium ice cream bars. Thank for your review.
We did, but we didn't bring any cash on us to be able to tip them because we figured it would be easier with it only being a three night us just going and getting our own food and drinks:(
Travis is right, the shows are incredible Broadway style. We loved the buffet and free ice cream too, and I would not have enjoyed sitting with other guests. We have been on DCL twice, and our group was large enough so it was just us. We actually loved going to the dining room each night. I am sorry it was disappointing for you guys. Our servers even cut the kids' meat. So maybe it was bec. he was sick, but why the heck was he serving? I think you can ask for kids meals and multiple entrees. I asked for a shrimp cocktail every night even though it wasn't on the menu, and our server made it happen. 2 desserts a night is a must! Give the cruise another shot, maybe one of the older ships.
Thanks so much for your comment. Definitely your children's stories about their experience is what had me so excited for the service and maybe we just need to try another shift like you said!
As an avid cruiser and Disney theme park fan, I would never choose a Disney cruise. Every other major cruise line has the buffet open for dinner for those that don't want to do the main dining room. I for one love to dine with strangers. My family come up with funny names for our tablemates. I've heard that the food at the rotating dining is very lackluster and from what I've seen in the (many) DCL videos I've watched, that appears to be true. Yeah, definitely don't do any cruises shorter than 7 nights.
If those fridges on the cruise didn’t work, then the next time, put your (closed) drinks in the “toilet tanks” (if the “top lid” of the tank “opens up”-the water will keep your cans/bottles “cold” at ALL times)go with Jackie and Sam on your next Disney cruise!
Oh no. I had the same experience on the Disney Dream. My one and only cruise I’ve ever done. Food was HORRIBLE, tasteless and lukewarm. Which is odd because everyone says its amazing? Buffet was the best part. So I booked the Wish for next year from hearing people rave about the food and it being a new ship but man, I really hope your experience (and mine on the Dream) was the exception. I said it in my own video, Disneyworld is #1. No idea what other people are talking about. Perhaps it’s mostly from people with kids that can’t enjoy WDW without their nagging little ones and the cruise lets them leave the kids at daycare so EVERYTHING on the cruise seems better to them 😂. We aren’t spoiled guys, we are RIGHT. Everybody else is just wrong 😃. Thanks for the review!
This video should be titled, "Un-Intentional Comedy". 10 minute rant of the cabin cooling drawer "... I couldn't keep my High Noons and Seltzers cold..." as the #1 Negative of a (what...) $3000 cruise is the funniest thing I have heard in at least a month!
Ok. First off.....RC should have been your first choice for a first time cruise. Secondly... I HATE sitting with multiple parties as well but unfortunately on a cruise that's just how it is unless you pay for the other restaurants. Please don't judge all cruises based on Disney!!!!😢 Try a Royal Caribbean or Norwegian!! RC Allure is amazballz!!!
I saw a comment in one of my DCL cruise groups you can ask your stateroom host if you want to buy the Wish blanket. Also, the cooling drawer is only on the Wish class the 4 other ships have a regular one like the hotels have. The buffets used to be open at night for dinner but when sailings resumed after the Covid shutdown they didn’t come back. The food in the rotational dining on the Wish is not the best, I sail solo a lot and always ask for my own table and have always gotten one, however it’s harder to get them on the Wish because of the layout of the restaurants. The Wish is my least favorite ship my favorite is the Dream and Fantasy! Thanks for your honest opinions! 😊
We went on our first ever cruise on the Wish in May of this year. We hated the food at Marvel. It was just not good and the show was stupid. So I think we'll skip that dinner the next time. We loved the food at 1923. Ardenelle lunch on boarding day was much better than the dinner. I had a hard time finding something to eat for dinner. Next time we'll just order room service I think. Our servers were fantastic, though, and I plan to request being in their section the next time. We didn't eat at the buffet because that's just a germ factory lol But the grills at the pool deck were good.
Yes I didn't like the food only one day got a good meal from night dinning and we had to eat with other people. Of course we had stuck up people looking down on us .I don't like it either and I pre paid for all tips.Last night they was asking for tips I just didn't like it we didn't have money on us.This was my first cruise and problay going on 1 more but im getting sickly
You guys basically hit all the problems we had 7 months ago. Marcelline market was the highlight. We had a wonderful time on the wish but the main dining was blah at best and I guess it hasn’t improved. I have been on every Disney ship once except the Wonder and the Wish’s main dining is NOT representive of the other ships. We blamed it on the newness of the ship but I guess it hasn’t improved. I will NOT go on that ship again.
Yes, we were definitely told by Disney Cruise fanatics that the wish was their least favorite before going on, but we really wanted to go near my birthday and check out the new ship but definitely will check out the other ships in the future🙌
Trust me as a first time cruiser I felt so spoiled saying all these things, but especially with someone who spent their hard earned money I needed to get it out of my system lol
I really just want to say a few things... You went on a Disney cruise made for kids. Everything you complained about was made for kids.... I would recommend going on an adult cruise and i think you guys may have a better time😊
