Disney Dreamlight Valley DO NOT TIME TRAVEL / SKIP.. How to fix this if you have no cloud save

That’s the thing I don’t remember when I fast traveled and I can’t pick up the mushrooms and oregano and etc

They care because currently/in the future, time limited events will occur, events that will require paid currency to unlock a separate section of the event. This will continue on each month. They don’t want people cheating to get ahead.

Ikr! I get if they don't want to let people time travel in the future. But we didn't know and now they're punishing us for it

My issue with this is that the company knew this was going to piss a lot of people off and still did it anyway. If they wanted people to not cheat in this game the least they could have done was make note of this in game instead of posting it online where not a lot of players will see it because not everyone uses social media to check for updates on the game. I rarely time traveled in this game and did it by accident and now I’d rather suffer the consequences then go back in resetting the game from scratch until it fixes because I have little to no patience for anything. I wish the developers made this game with the sole purpose of letting players work at their own pace because with animal crossing thats how the devs wanted it to be. If Nintendo made this game and not game loft then they would have made it work in the same way the animal crossing was made to work where you can just play at your own pace and not have to worry about progress. I get the devs wanted to implement something to make it easier for players to not cheat the system but in my opinion they should have acknowledged it physically in the game instead of posting it online because how can you expect someone to see it if they don’t have social media to see it. My problem is that what if your traveling to a new country and you want to set your switch to the time zone your traveling to but your game ends up breaking because of it. It shouldn’t be on the fault of the player as long as if their console is registering in certain time zones their currently in but it bothers me that if I had to travel to another country for travel or something my game would break because I can’t play it when I’m not in the correct time zone. They know it’s an exploit, they knew it was going to piss people off regardless and chose to not address it because they clearly knew people would be unhappy with it. Animal Crossing pocket camp has limited time events as well but Nintendo let the players do however they want to play the game so game loft should take notes from developers who want to make the experience enjoyable like stardew valley or animal crossing and let players play the game the way the players want to play it but also block seasonal things in the game where only certain events can be accessed at a specific time just as long as if the player doesn’t skip their time foreword too much. I feel like Disney should have just self published this themselves in my opinion because they had the money to do it themselves but that’s just my thought. Yeah they created the game for people to find it enjoyable but its not your responsibility as the developer to dis encourage fans from playing how they want to play. Your responsible for fixing the bugs in the game but you like being pissed off at fans for addressing issues with your game. Doesn’t matter if its an exploit if it doesn’t get put in some writing in game then the mistake will carry over to future ports of this game. It’s not an issue that needs to be put on the back burner its issue that needs to be put in game by the developers themselves asap before the game fully releases because no matter how you look at it future players of this game who may have played other games similar to this like animal crossing are going to be upset because of this and not pay any money on it because of an exploit that the devs are too preoccupied to fix.

I don’t care about “time traveling” as a tool so much as it makes me angry like you said I played for close to 2 weeks blissfully unaware there was an event going on at launch I almost completely missed because I simply didn’t know my switch was set to manual time and off by about a month. A short blurb when you launch it saying “please ensure your switch is set to your current date and time to avoid interruptions in service. Changing the time or keeping your time on manual will not allow participation in events and may cause your game to glitch when reset” Like one or two lines would have avoided a whole ordeal. I didn’t even find out it was a thing until I did exactly what you said, went on Reddit to ask why I couldn’t see any events. Animal crossing like you said has time locked events so I’m not buying that they didn’t want people “cheating” and getting things before they’re available when multiple other time-locked events in many other games can successfully navigate it without punishing the player way more severely than the ‘transgression’ calls for. I spent hours every day playing, got this game the day it pre-released, spent nearly $100 on it, and had to completely restart because I realized my switch was on the wrong time and I wasn’t willing to wait a month or more for it to “catch up” with no resources available. It was absolutely done to punish players… the players who are paying real world money for what was marketed as a free to play game, the players who dutifully sat by and dealt with every glitch or crash or bug they failed to fix. The first 3-4 months I played I couldn’t be on it for more than 20-30 minutes because it would crash. I couldn’t move more than 2 or 3 pieces of furniture at any given time without it getting stuck in a save loop, so I’d have to manually close it and start over, I dealt with quests I couldn’t finish because of glitches, items straight up missing from my inventory, moonstones not being delivered when I bought them, and now with the insane prices they’re asking for them with no way to really get more in game (up until a few days ago) I’m even more annoyed at this purist attitude of theirs when in reality we can all see now they view the game as a cash grab. Also, my personal belief is there’s no “cheating” in a game that doesn’t have a way to “win” in the first place. Lock the events to real time and let people time travel if they want, or at the very least tell people they can’t do it in game like you said. I work full time, which is how I’ve afforded the luxury of spending now close to $200 on this game because I genuinely enjoyed it, but because I can’t alter time I’ve spent months trying to get the red Fox as a companion because I’m gone for work in the short time frame where it’s out. I could see them not wanting time travel to be an option if it had an online play mode, like if they wanted to avoid marketplaces like Nookazon from being a thing, but this is literally something only one person at a time can play, doesn’t have any combat or competition so you can’t win, and you can’t share anything with other players or between consoles so it’s not like there is going to be a black market for the furniture. This just shows they really don’t particularly care about the players or their feedback and apparently actively hate people like us who have real lives to attend to and can’t focus 90-100% of their time on this game. It’s a shame because I do love the game, I was obsessed the first 5-6 months it was out, but it’s progressively gotten worse and has seemed more cash-grab lately and only to the loyalists who paid money for their free to play game (which is so funny they’re still calling it that despite it being over a year later and your only option STILL is to pay for it, when they said within the first few months it’d go ftp)

Did you buy any of the founders packs? Did they still show up? I started the game not realize my bf had time traveled in another game, and it’s driving me crazy! I was only like a week or so ahead, but I can’t harvest anything

I unfortunately didn’t have that option. I was a year ahead, lol

I waited and logged in at the correct time and everything does seem to be fine, I'm hoping more people will talk about all of this to warn any new players about these issues.

You and me both :’) I realized there wasn’t a whole lot of awareness on this, hence my video, but unfortunately, people usually see the video when it’s too late :( hopefully Disney will put some kind of awareness message before starting the game, so more people won’t suffer and have to start all over.

They actually confirmed in discord that it is not a priority to fix. I checked patch notes again, and I see nothing about a fix for this. They basically consider it an exploit, and imo if they do ever fix it, it will be a one time thing, and a warning label at the start of the game to never time travel. I’m not a game developer so I don’t know for sure, but they’re trying to prevent “cheating” because this game also has a spending money side in the events, if not for that they probably wouldn’t care… we don’t know what the future will hold for other $ things either.

They expect people not to time skip, makes sense since it keeps the game balanced and no cheating to get ahead. Important to remember, this game will have events consistently, and to unlock premium path you need to use moonstones (premium currency) so they probably view time skipping as cheating to get ahead in events… which would require people to spend less. I could be wrong but just my theory on it.

@@Robert-noir On tomodachi life on the DS it would tell you before starting the game that you time travelled. I wish Dreamlight Valley did the same

@@ashtonparez1699 I do believe if they don’t allow time skipping they should at least have ways to wake the villagers, they should also have a way to make the sun rise but not affect time, etc. I don’t think time skipping needs to be allowed, I think they need to do better to realize not everyone can play at certain times, and realize the way it is now is not practical. A game shouldn’t have to be exploited in order to finish quests etc, so that’s on them… it’s early access so hopefully they have a way to remedy this in the future.

Same! I was near the end of October in ACNH and started Dreamlight Valley in that date.. now synched to today’s date and it’s broken.. guess it’s gonna be a month without herbs, fruit & wood lol

Cloud save and start your game completely over. Your items from your pack will be in your inventory. There is no other fix, it sucks but it’s what everyone has had to do that was on the wrong time, myself included.

This will be my third time starting over 🤣😭 owell. Thank you so much for telling everyone. I went back a couple months ahead and everything worked except for couldn't connect to the internet of course. All of us animal crossing time travelers are having it tough.

So if you put the clock back and then restart if you had the founders gifts they will all be there with the new game? I have now been able to cloud save I’m just nervous to restart that I’ll lose all of those items with a new game!!

@@kristiberry14 as long as you cloud saved , you will have your items in your inventory upon making a new game, no worries!

As long as you cloud saved, it’ll be in your inventory when you restart the game entirely.

@@Sarascire you don’t need to replace it, just save to the “new” cloud save, you’ll be completely fine :) Make sure your time is synched.

@@gachakitties2910 I’ve only my moon stones.. any stuff’s in there 😪😭 also I didn’t received dream shards and I’m stuck with the Merlin’s quest for the craft of a night shard purified 🥲 love this game.. but is freaking me out. Let me know if you fixed some of this issues 🙏🏻

They actually just stay in your inventory, as long as you did a cloud save. Your moonstones are also recovered, and if you did any of the event, progress is saved.
