As for locking new critters and items behind the expansion, I see your point 100%, but this is also what games like the Sims do. So while it may not be true, I could easily see it happening. Perhaps with an expanded Star Path for expansion duties. It's a long shot, just brainstorming here.

I think if it’s a whole new area, that tracks as a DLC, much like Happy Home Paradise in Animal Crossings, and may warrant being paid content, VS the free content they’re going to release for the main biomes.

That “Atlantis” place looks a lot like the beach… plus the title “rift in time” maybe it’s the beach in a different time period of the valley? I could see there being different “realms” like when you go into the treehouse or maybe skull rock???

With Jack coming to the game, my hope for Sally has been reignited! I need them both together! ❤ The upcoming content looks amazing! Can’t wait to see more during the livestream!

I see the paid expansions like I do for World of Warcraft and games like that. If you don't buy the xpac, you don't get to go to those zones or experience the new content. Even Animal crossing did that with Happy Home Paradise.

So I work in games, and I have to tell you - putting a new biome/zone/etc behind paid content? That's... exactly what an expansion is. It expands the current game into new areas to explore and interact with. You can't access that new content unless you pay for it - so people that have the base game can play that base game as much as they want, but if they want to explore the new stuff, they'll need to purchase the expansion and expand the game. I don't really see anything wrong with it - frankly I'm happy they aren't going free to play, it means the monetization isn't going to get wildly out of control, and it means we'll continue to get solid blocks of content as long as the game and its expansions keep selling well. I'm cool with it.

They are locking biomes to the new DLC it was stated in the info. You have to pay $30 for new biomes, story, outfits, critters, and characters.

Mini- Theory: Mirabels part of the expansion because we unlocked her "mini-casita" what about the actual Casita? Could be a great way to get us new fruits or new critters.... idk if they would add the whole family madrigal

If you watch the other video you can see this glowing gold portal which leads me to believe this wand/staff will teleport you into the three new biomes (which they already confirm in The forgetting castle-on the wall. They will be desert, Atlantis, and a jungle. The snake critter is from the desert Agraba (but could be Jafar, but I’m leaning more towards a new critter). The monkey is from the jungle biomes. And dont forget the critter capybara. If you think about it the jungle fits Rapunzel, Pirates of the Caribbean,Encanto, so perfect for building. I think we get that new tool in the skull cave. You are right about the island not loafing everything. It will be each new one separate or one big new island with 3 sections

They also showed Olaf’s arm on one of the previous roadmaps so I think they revealed Jack the same way as they revealed Olaf

The expansion pass gives you access to Eternity Isle, which I’m definitely assuming is separate from our normal valley, and the description of the pass plainly states it contains new biomes.

I personally would want DLC new biomes to come out of a new wing of the castle rather then cluttering my plaza with portals. This also would allow them to expand it further in the future if they have the need/want.

I don't see why you would think they wouldn't lock a biome behind a paywall. They have locked everything else behind one including characters in the new expansion pass. I think it's fair, not everything can be free and I don't think just a realm would be worth $30. I would imagine they would not link the two worlds and it will be a separate area all together like many other games dlc's.

As for new biomes, they may only be available on PC and next-generation consoles. For example, Cyberpunk 2077 released updates and DLCs that introduce a new place on the main map, but only on PC and next-generation consoles.

So much new info. Was a bit disappointed that what I thought was coming as next free update seems to now be in a paid expansion. I am fine paying for expansions but not when I thought it was coming for free based on the 2023 roadmap. Glad there is still a mix of new free content though My theory is time rift and the royal tool (staff with hr glass) allow us to travel in time i.e. it's same biomes but look completely different as so long ago etc. That beach looks a bit like dazzle beach to me, maybe the castle is replaced by Aladdin's castle, plaza is dessert biome etc. I feel that makes sense with the royal tool having the hr glass and the expansion called time rift. Maybe it can add story about all the ruins around our current valley

From my understanding, I think it's going to be a new world which we know will be called "Eternity Isle". It's going to include either 2 or 3 biomes, at least one desert biome (with snake critters, cactus plants and new gems to mine), and one jungle biome (with monkey critters, possibly also capibaras, unless they're in a different third biome we don't know about yet; and a couple of new planets which you hadn't looked at in the bottom right of the photo, unknown atm if they're more harvestables\fruits, or new farming crops). If there is a third biome (since we are getting 3 new critters, but I guess two might share one biome?), I feel like it might be an underwater/Atlantis theme, but that's just my guess. Since they chose to call this a "Pass", I'm assuming that buying the DLC wouldn't necessarily grant you immediate access to everything in Eternity Isle - there might be an initial biome or two, which are unlocked/cleared via the story, and then more will come overtime with future updates. The reason some of the houses included in the background of the photo are ones we already own (i.e. Wall-E's house and farm, Mirabelle's house, player house), are imo, so that we understand that these are playable biomes, and not realms. Also they literally mentioned "new biomes" in the promotional material you went through yesterday - So we already knew for sure they were gonna lock them behind a pay wall. As you've said, adding 2-3 new biomes to our existing valley, is going to be a major issue with the current item limit, it will put a major strain on performance, especially on older systems and consoles. I'm pretty sure that's exactly why they decided to split these new biomes, into a separate world. I think the new royal tool is clearly a staff that has to do with time, cause as you've said it looks like a sand clock, and also the literal name of the expansion is a Rift in Time. As I see it atm, there are two options - Either the staff is going to be used for travel to/inside this new world, which could be the "story" explanation for the separation, e.g. this "world" is actually a past version of our current valley. This is kinda supported by the fact that the new "beach" layout shown here, looks very similar to our current beach. However, it feels kinda weird to have that be the entire functionality of a new tool, since we already have a couple of fast travel systems built into the game (with wells/portals and via the map) - And especially since we know that the player's house can be set in the new world. It's more probable that we'd be traveling to Eternity Isle via a portal, and then once there, using wells to fast travel between biomes as wer're used to from our current Valley. So, if traveling to the new world is going to be done via a portal (which will likely be either in the Plaza like you've mentioned, inside Skull Rock, or inside the treehouse where there's clearly room for more portals that we hadn't used so far), then I think the staff is going to have to do with game mechanics for the new side-story coming with this pack. I've definitely noticed, as you have, that a lot of the places in the new world seem to be in ruin, and with the repeated mentions of time - I think the staff might still be used for time travel. I.E. Maybe you can use it to "rewind time" on certain buildings/ruins, therefore repairing them. If things get repeatedly ruined every day, as result of this world being stuck in a "time rift", this might be a mechanic similar to night-thornes where we can clear/repair it daily, and they might drop coins, memories etc in return. Honestly, I feel like this might be the case, whether it involves the new tool or not. As far as new characters go, we know for sure we're getting the three seen in the photo, but I personally think there might be one or two more which they're keeping secret for now, such as Aladdin/Jaffar. These might be directly tied to the paid expansion pack, or they might also come to base game in the next free update, and have yet to be announced. As far as the free update goes, which I assume will come out on Dec 5th alongside the release of the paid DLC - it looks like we'll be getting Jack, access to some new form of multiplayer, a few new objects the you've pointed out here such as the new basket or the frozen lake (which I guess might be a premium shop item, but I think it's most likely part of the next star path - would make sense if it's winter/Christmas themed). On this date, we also know that anyone who already owns the game, is going to receive the new cottage, Capibara companion and couple of new cozy outfits for free, as well as 2500 free moonstones. So essentially there will be quite a few new items, new house-skin, new star path, and at least one new character coming for free in the next base game update, which to me seems really fair and about the same amount of content we're used to. What I'm not sure about and looking forward to get this clarified on the Nov 1st livestream - Is the story. Some people seem to believe that the new paid DLC is going to include "chapter 2" of the story, so that it continues what we've done so far with the forgetting etc. Some seem to think it's more of a side-story, having to do with the new world and the characters tied to it, but nothing to do with the forgotten and the current storyline (which I personally would very much prefer). If that is the case, then we might still get some new story quests with the free update too, furthering the forgotten's story and possibly finally having him move into the Valley full-time (so that we can talk to him, gift and level him up, have him follow us etc same as any other character). At that point, it's also possible that we would finally get rid of the nighthornes entirely, or possibly get a new option to toggle them on or off. This might be the "official ending" of Chapter 1, wrapping up the story of the forgetting. Question is, what happens next - For people who only own the base-game, will that be the official ending of the game, and if you want more story, you do have to buy the DLCs? Because then, how would they explain new realms/characters still joining the Valley via free updates after the Forgetting should no longer be an issue? I guess we'll have to wait and see! Anyway, sorry for the long rant lol, just felt like I needed a proper recap of everything since there's so much to talk about - Hope this helps anyone who might still be confused about what we know so far :)

I think the expansion has to come with new biomes to make it worth the $30 we're going to be paying for it. This is real money, not potentially earned moonstones. There has to be some meat on these bones to have people pay cash.

I’m very interested to see how time will play into this update. If we’ll be able to reverse time, go to the future, maybe change weather conditions? I wish we had a bug net so we could collect varieties of bugs that would have been cool but I am also really excited for this new tool. I think casita and the yellow player house in the pic tells us that we’ll be able to move houses from the valley to the isle and vice versa.

And for the biomes, maybe yes the new biomes / bew story won't be accessible without the pass. Meaning the ''free content'' update will still happen on the original valley ?

I'm happy it's not free to play. Free to play games tend to go a certain way and end up not being fun, but I'd pay for a one-off expansion as long as they don't do like the sims and add 20 of them.

I'm not convinced that thing is the new tool. Based on the fact that the expansion is called a rift in time and that that item has an hourglass i'm guessing it will be used to access the new area(s). Technically i guess that does make it a tool but i'm still hoping for a net(why else do we have butterflies all over the valley now?)

I just hope that with new biomes under pay that the characters in those biomes will be able to interact with the existing ones. Not having like 2 different games in one. (ex: Happy Home Paradise in Animal Crossings which was about the same price) Also no matter what they did people would complain. If it had gone free to play with micro transactions people would complain about that (like the did/do in Pokemon Go and many other games) Also probable advantage in Dreamsnaps to people having the expansion. In the end I believe doing it this way will actually save money for those of us who want it all :) I'd rather pay my $30 and have a better game than get less and have a fun but not better game.
