Also…I think people usually just vote for whatever catches their eye the most. Plus, I back out of voting for either picture if they aren’t even trying to fit the theme…even slightly. And…I don’t ever vote for a duplicate showing. It’s just not fair.

Submit the DreamSnap you love. That is what is the most important 😊

I think the best thing we can do to offset the random voting is spend extra time voting with intention! If we spend a lot of time on our dreamsnaps and want results that are more balanced, we should also put extra time into voting. The people who are voting randomly are probably only voting the minimum 10 times just for moonstones, and then they're done. If we spend more time voting, we can drown out random votes more and make them the minority. They'll never go away completely, but we can't control other players' behavior, only our own. I spend time voting every time I log in well beyond the minimum and recommend anyone who wants to see more fair results based on more thoughtful voting do the same. :)

Tbh I'm shocked that ''only'' 56 people vote for the theme 1st 😅 Because I mean... It's a challenge we have to create something on theme. So voting for ''the most beautiful '' even if it's not a theme .. is kinda weird to me 🤷🏼 I do agree about the first impression, because let's not forget some people also vote on switch not hooked on a TV so on a very small screen so not all details will be seen for sure even if you open the pic.. For the outfit challenge it's trickier. I will look at the outfit 1st but I vote most of the time if the outfit and background looks coherent.

None of this matters if your TAGS are not really high! Due to the randomness of voting, tags are incredibly important bc they increase your base score prior to voting. TAGS, TAGS, TAGS!

MrStarinSky... thank you for all your research!!! As you say, no one really knows and understands Dreamsnaps, flip a coin. At least each of us get something for participating but perhaps we should participate and move on....?

I feel like they should think of a different voting system, without comparing 2 shots. Sometimes I see 2 amazing submissions at the same time and I really want to upvote both but you just can't. I think the whole 'comparing' part makes the voting unfair and causes a lot of people to not get the results they expected. Maybe they should do something like show 1 picture and you can rate it with stars or something Idk.

I chose option 2. If it even somewhat alludes to the theme I wanna give credit. Because it takes real effort to compose an entire photo. Not just slapping down your themed items and taking a shot. Not everyone has the exact themed items either. Just like with this sports theme. We had to all get real creative and hope the theme was portrayed. Thank you for showing us the science side of this game. I'm sure it's hard to do and you've got 9000 different opinions being thrown at you. And thank you for always going into detail about these things! You have helped me improve my dreamsnap submissions tremendously. I compose my photos now. Try to get my tags right and then focus on composing the scene. It's been a game changer and more creators need to be as real as you.

Maybe gameloft could implement a timer for voting. Maybe 5 to 10 seconds until you can submit a vote.

I would love a video about all the winner submissions and a general all top 10 or top 3 submissions! and see if you can find common ground on how they are constructed?

I think results depend greatly upon the picture you are facing off against. I noticed, on Xbox, that great photos are usually pitted against each other…while submissions (that you question HOW they even passed the requirements) are usually pitted against each other. *This is why I back out of voting for either submission when neither are even trying for the theme.

The theme/prompt is the DreamSnap rules so sometimes my vote is based on if a submission doesn’t seem to be following the rules or not. Sometimes it’s subjective but I have seen plenty of wildly off topic photos that’s hard to believe they even tried to stay on theme.

I wish I could vote on more than just a first impression. I never get anything past simple submissions to vote on. I know if people doing a furniture challenge just have everything piled up a corner of the shot like it’s a yard sale or set out for rubbish collection I don’t vote for them. Even if you have very little for the tags it won’t kill you to try and arrange the furniture. But that’s what I mainly see when voting 😔

Ok. So making a good dreamsnap is something between taking a professional photo and making a YT thumbnail. That's a lot of data though it was interesting and yeah for me even in Outfit challenge the background is important too

I don’t agree with the statement about making outfit challenges plain backgrounds. I enjoy the variation between the two because when I am creating a dreamsnap for an outfit challenge, it takes away the pressure of having to fill the photo with lots of items (clutter). This is when I take the opportunity to create a beautiful shot with trees, bushes, flowers. Whereas when I’m doing a furniture challenge I find people look for the themed items and vote when they see lots of themed furniture but I actually find these shots a lot harder and more time consuming.

i have been trying to tell people this for awhile. i stopped getting 4k MS's because of the players who don't actually give an effort to match the theme. look even if you don't have the star path outfit you can still use magic touch or cobble something together that fits but stop submitting dream snaps that have nothing to do with the theme at all. the devs need to put in a fixture that prevents people from submitting a dream snap that has nothing to do with the theme of that weeks dream snaps. it's why i stopped doing dream snaps because couple weeks or months back i got 1,200 moonstones for my Arendelle themed dream snap.... an i worked really hard as best i could an i still got robbed.

What I like to do is blur my eyes and look at my dreamsnap and see if it’s still interesting. Details don’t matter, colour contrast, symmetry, and pop of light is what draws the eye quickest imo

I get where people are coming from on the theme thing like if it looks like people didn’t follow the basic instructions then they shouldn’t be voted for like if the theme is blue and red and they do purple like that’s not blue and red… 😊

The big problem with random voters, is that I am not even sure if more than a handful people even see your picture any given week. One voter could be a quarter of your entire score. If you happen to get two random voters, and they both ignore your picture, you are pretty much done already.

I'm going to try and explain why tags are important. Those that I've explained it to in the past all have improved their scores in Dream Snaps. Tags is what will determine your starting score before voting begins. Votes towards your submission will make up the rest and give you an overall score. Your overall score will determine your rank and how many moonstones you get. For example say there is a total overall score of 100 points max score or 100.00. Each tag word in the challenge including the two suggested tag words for the challenge gives you so many points for including as many of the two main tags as you can and at least one of each of the suggested tags.. Let's say for an outfit challenge. If your submission has the maximum of each of the two main tags for an outfit challenge and it's scores the highest of 20 points for each main tag categories and say 10 bonus points each for including at least one item each of the two suggested tags, then right there your submission starts out with a base score of 60.00 for maxing out the main tags with suggested tags included. Then when voting starts your submission will need less votes than say someone with a minimal amount of tags for their submission who starts out with a score of only 10 points out of the 20 max points possible for each main tag category they submitted and maybe included only one of the suggested tags. Their base score will be a lot lower at 30.00 starting out and that submission will have to rely on more votes for their submission to reach as close to an overall score of 100.00, over the person who submitted the maximum tags possible that starts out base score 60.00.(before votes) Granted those are just the example numbers that I rounded off to explain easier, because we don't know where tags cap out at exactly or the exact points earned for each tag item you submit, but high tags included with a well done submission, will improve how you score overall. This has been proven to me time and time again. Decor challenge scoring I think is determine a bit differently because you can include many more tag items than you can with an outfit challenge. You only have so many body slots to fill with tags in an outfit challenge too. Also how scoring is done exactly is not something Gameloft is willing to share with their fan base, I'm afraid. Probably because they feel it will get exploited if we knew the exact recipe for calculating your overall score, rank and moonstones. Also recently voters have drop off drastically and why you are seeing more and more "I got robbed" submissions who rely heavily on votes mostly because they submitted low tags, making high tags all the more important. This is what I do know about tags and share. It's all up to you to take this information or leave it.

Yea, I will say.. I got in the top 10 one time (rank 9 for the Nightmare Before Christmas DreamSnap) and it was directly on theme and an excellent composition.

I only vote for the moonstones but I vote for the one that looks good and is on theme

The way i look at dreamsnaps is the outfit and decor is your personal challenge in order to enter the competition. When it comes to voting it specifically says vote for your favourite picture. It doesnt mention outfit or decor. So i always see the dreamsnaps as an overall photo challenge rather than just focusing on only outfit or only decor.

VERY interesting data! This can go beyond DDV it can be applied to RU-vid thumbs and more across social media. People don’t seem to like to think too much when scrolling etc so this kinda makes sense. A bit sad? Maybe. But math be mathing!

I’m on Switch but I rarely do simple. Also I can vote on the picture with the pretty sky over bright pictures. As long as I can still see the picture it’s good.

I’m open to other’s interpretation of a theme. However, if someone submits something totally unrelated (a holiday/winter dream snap for a Toy Story challenge) then they won’t get my vote. I’m curious to see how the current dreamsnap goes because some are expecting “futuristic” but the prompt states “sci-fi”.

I think some people forget that children are voting too. My daughter is 11 and plays on the switch. She pics the one that she thinks is prettier, even if it's not on theme, or might be more colorful. I'm not going to blame a kid for voting that way. And yes, she will sometimes randomly pick too. Once again, she's only a kid. Plus, I play on the Ps5 and I will vote for a pic that I think a kid put together, as they may not have as many items and have to work with what they do have. I also vote on what catches my eye first. 🤷‍♀️ I can care less where I place each week. At least I get a few moonstones. It's all about having fun. I can understand people put a lot of work in their dreamscapes, but sometimes I like voting for the under dog.

Ah don't make a crucial mistake: a first impression is only what the conscious mind notices - but the brain does see all the details and they DO affect the judgment of your first impression! It's what people say as 'gut feeling'. You don't know exactly why you like something better, you just do. When in reality you subconsciously notice that one character is better visible, the decorations in the back fill out the picture more nicely, the coloring of the sky matches the coloring of your lamp posts, the picture had subtle framing etc etc... Just because a decision is made in a second, does NOT mean that details are irrelevant! On the contrary!

I do the dreamsnaps for fun if I do good I do good if I don't I don't if the pictures are well put together and alot of color I will vote for it.

For anyone who doesn't know how to enlarge a picture on Switch, you click the picture and press "X" and it enlarges the picture then either click "B" to look at other picture or press "A" to vote for it.

I wish we could figure out a way to see if Dreamsnaps get paired up against the same image for everyone. Like does my Dreamsnap always get paired against John Doe's Dreamsnap when people are voting? Because you know how you see Dreamsnaps that are pretty similar sometimes, it seems like there's some sort of algorithm for who the Dreamsnap gets paired up against. Then if people get lots of votes one week, but not a lot the next week could it be because they got lucky on who it's paired up against?

I’m really upset with Gameloft to the point where I’m going to quit the game completely 🥺 they’re refusing to compensate me for my missing dream light because of the glitchy pixel dust… so disappointed with how they’ve treated me… they’ve given to people who weren’t even affected by it & there’s so many of us out there who haven’t got what was taken from us 😪

I have said for awhile they need to let ppl get the default moonstones for dreamsnaps without jumping hoops i.e. if you don't want to vote just get the moonstones without voting, if you don't want to submit click a button that week to get the 300 moonstones. This will also make the images more interesting when voting making voting more enjoyable in general. These could still be incl in the ranking so it doesn't make the moonstone buckets harder to achieve

It should be just a photo challenge and get rid of required tags. Some people don't have the tags. Next week's voting is going to be full of Eve's house because people did not have enough items that fit the tags.

yeah ,knowing that people vote randomly on top of that your sumittion doesnt even get shown barely ,like poor mike ,having a chance that your sumittion shows up and someone randomly votes the other one is alot of the reason why people get robbed ,alot of people dont know how important votes count and how diverse the huge community of ddv is ,alot are not casual and some are ,so alot of people will think this is horrible and some that dont care x.x" kinda like the subjects of duplicating ,whether on animal crossing or on ddv ,there were alot of people who play and half and half dislike and half who like and sometimes those who are in the middle ,but yeah big communities will always have these issues and cause of dreamsnaps is like atm,unless ddv changes alot of how dreamsnaps works ,were gonna run into these issues and ddv doesnt seem like they care enough to fix there game,animal crossing was more use to the way multiplayer functions work and had more of a handle on it,but know that even if one person changes how they vote isnts gonna do much ,shows how it comes back to ddv needs to fix how dreamsnap works. all this is just my opinion though xD

Maybe you should do a poll on 2 dreamsnaps that you make on a theme you make up and see what people do. Even if it's on a video and do a few different options, then create 2 comments for people to "like" between, them you can see what the meta aesthetic is?

you can definitely zoom in on xbox n it's very simple i think it the y button idk it's muscle memory now but it tells you the zoom button in the bottom right when you have the image highlighted

It needs to be better than the other photo that's it. AI collects the photo that is most similar looking to yours and if that photo looks better than you will lose. Everyone's dreams naps are getting better each week and it's harder and harder to do well.

We have Themes: Toy Story, Beauty and the Beast, Mickey and Friends, etc. You need to do a pole to go with that to see if people actually know what gets catagorized into each theme. Why? Because I think some people look at certain items and think Beauty and the Beast when it's actually Frozen, for example.

first thing I do when I vote is I see if both are on theme. if one is and one isn't I vote for one on theme if there both on theme I then check to see if they both put in effort or not ie one just placed down random items the other put effort in I vote for the one with effort. if they both are in theme and put effort in I vote for the one I like the best

I vote for snaps that follow the theme. If it doesn't I reset the voting and continue voting.

I know this is a few days old but Ill let you know how I vote. If it's a selfie mode, I won't vote for it. You can never see all the decor, or the clothing so defeats the purpose to both challenges. There are a few you all loved that I hated, mainly because I don't like "busy" photos. So if there is TO much stuff and it's TO decorated, I won't vote for it. Not a fan of the throw literally everything you have at it look. I look at good compostion, but if both are good and neither are on theme, Ill back out and go back in until I get 2 I WILL choose from. If I get 2 that don't strike my fancy, I vote for neither. I also RARELY vote on the ones at night, or with the blurry out of pfocus over bearing filters. They all take from the photo and night is 99% of the time too dark to see properly.

I’ve taken part in all polls and the results were interesting, definitely explains a lot within the DDLV community why dreamsnaps can be frustrating 👍🏻⭐️📸 And, you can definitely zoom in on Switch by pressing the x button….I wish the dreamsnaps explained better and others cared more to zoom in while voting, because such beautiful details aren’t even noticed without zooming

I made the mistake of going outside the box and using a reference once, never again! The shot still made sense and fit the theme, but people just didn’t know. The theme was Something Wicked.. I made Mr. Dark and the carnival from Disney’s Something Wicked this Way Comes. Literally referenced the inspiration for the theme title. Guess nobody’s seen it 😅😅

I voted for the option one also, BUT... If the picture is horrible, and it's against a "fire" shot that fits the theme at least a little... I guess I WOULD vote option 2.?! Honestly, the theme IS most important though when compared to an even close to equal composition. (I think it depends on so many things that the poll was tough.

Mr.Star please never stop spiraling on your deeamsnapps streams.. I like making dreamsnapps and seeing the communities incredible submissions each week but I’m not surprised by the polls… I hope this helps the people that are robbed to not take it so hard but also hope this doesn’t make people throw in the towel and give up or phone in their own shots. I love seeing the creativity

i honestly feel when i submit my snap on my PC I don't do well at all, but when I submit the snap through my xbox I do ten times better each and every time.

Relatively new here, I tried googling but didn’t find an answer. Why does having more tags give you an advantage? I struggle getting over the minimum requirement due to having a sparse inventor but i’m also big on minimalism as an aesthetic preference, just wondering why it’s important to have high tags, thanks y’all!

I chose C - first impression. Plenty of people do not maximize the photos for details… if it’s pretty and on theme I vote for it

for me it is theme but if its a outfit challenge and they are in a realm for the back ground its fine same if they are in a house. decor challenge i do like to see effort but creativity is great to see as well but not everyone has time. some are kids that may not understand i know theme is what we look for but i think some are to harsh i feel at least its not just Adults playing.

I vote the MOST random. Sometimes sadly I don't have the energy to really look at ppls snaps. I've noticed I've done the most basic snap and get 4k so not sure what the real data is.

I think the focus should be more on enjoying it. We can’t control anyone other than ourselves. We can’t make someone appreciate our art, spend time studying it, consider the time that went into it, nor force others to respond to art in a certain way. Make it for the love of making it. Then vote the way you want.
