My best friend works for Disney. Has for a looooong time now. Specifically, she works for Disney Animation Studios. Started out as a colorist for Nickelodeon and worked her way through the industry. She is now a "Disney Executive," which sounds important but is really just a fancy title for the manager's-manager (and is still several "managers-managers" away from any sort of power). Several months ago I asked her how things were going over there because their stocks were dropping almost as fast as their reputation with the public. She admitted to me that things werent going so well for Disney and that every single branch was feeling it. She works with the television cartoons. She has nothing to do with the parks and movies losing mass amounts of money, yet they had several rounds of company wide layoffs effecting every dept. Everyone from the janitor to the colorists, story board artists, managers, directors, etc, they were ALL at risk. She was fortunate enough to have kept her position, but was upset to find out they fired her assistant and eliminated the position entirely, leaving her on her own with a heavy work load. Disney is pretending that theyre not suffering, but thats a LIE. Their employees, from top to bottom, are all fully aware that their walking a battered tightrope without a safety net.
@@thahirshibu5042 What's more, jobs in the animation industry aren't usually structured like traditional jobs. You don't just get hired into a position and go from there. You get hired into a position, on one specific show, for one specific season. After that season is completed you're out of a job. You have to continually reapply for work every time a season ends or a show is cancelled/completed. You don't just get moved onto a different show. So, for example, if you're hired on as a colorist for season 3 of "Phineas and Ferb," you are not automatically going to be a colorist on season 4. You have to reapply for every season of every show at every network. So their job security factor is already on a shakey foundation because their contracts only last several months to a year and then they have to look for work all over again. This is especially true when a show ends. You don't just get moved over to a different show to be a colorist there, you have to apply for it like everyone else. Of course, if you have a history of working with them you're more likely to get re-hired (which is one of the factors that makes animation such a difficult field to break into initially), but you're still in a perpetual state of short term contracts, leading to temporary positions, resulting in the necessity to re-apply, undergo the multi-step interview process, get hired/re-hired (hopefully), then lather, rinse, repeat. It's kinda like a double-whammy. Adding instability to an already unstable structure.
And unfortunately, the ONLY way I’ve found to be able to watch those older Disney movies, is to subscribe to disgusting disney+. Walt would not approve of today’s Disney.

Disney+ comes free with our internet service provider and even with our cell phone service. We still have never signed in to Disney+. It's a shame, too, because there are things we want to watch... especially older Disney stuff. But the only power we have is our purchasing power. It's a worthy sacrifice.

In 2015, I started the woke movement. When Donald Trump came down the escalator, I was hearing things going on. I watched the Benghazi hearings.
