They are charging more for everything and don't have enough to keep their employees on the job? They should just eliminate those people in upper management who aren't doing their jobs properly. Those employees in the entertainment division are the faces of the company and should not be cut.
Plus the parks are packed!!! How do they not have enough $$$!?!?!? All small extras they use to give, like rides to and from the airport, magic bands, fast pass they did away with and now charge!!!
@@joyceespinoza9623 idk man have you SEEN the money they waste on buying franchises and networks?? they're bleeding money because of their own stupid decisions. keep releasing blockbuster flops that nobody wants to see and have no creativity or heart behind them. they need to get rid of iger asap. his goal with taking away all of the things that used to make disney magical (the bus rides from the airport, dining plans, etc) for middle and lower class people is to cater only to the rich who can afford to pay the extra fare from the airport, for meals, etc. he thinks if he has mostly rich guests they'll spend more in the parks and make the company more money. it's hopeless.
They're not cutting performers, they're cutting managers. Every manager takes 3-4 times the salary of a performer. Not that Disney will add more performers like they should, but middle management is mostly a useless invention.
disgusting definitely isn’t the right word. they have every right to lay off workers, and they’re giving them time ahead. put on your big boy pants, grow up, step into the real world, and realize that companies aren’t always able to keep up with that many employees. people were mad at them when they cut their pay for employees, so they cut the amount of employees. you really can’t make everyone happy.
@swiftie_1 They can, but the layoffs are a retaliation to the workers asking for a living wage.... Most of them live in their cars cuz they can afford rent in the places the parks are. The works what'd $22 per hour, They factored in rent and budget and that would be the hourly cost for them to live. Disney said no And tried to rework the contract to where they would get a pay raise of a dollar tell $21 per hour. Most workers did not like this because most of them were on board of being evicted from their housing.
She's lost them so much money breaking franchises that used to rake in the big bucks, but Disney will keep her and fire staff who made a kid's day magical and made a customer become brand loyal
I had a teacher we found out worked for Disney for a bit. She told us you should treat it like a job at McDonald’s. Unless you have the skills to move up the chain, use it to keep yourself afloat while you hunt for other work.
I had an uncle who worked for Disney theme parks for decades and loved it. He had that customer service personality though. And he got to give private tours, so that was a pretty sweet job.
My sister works at Disneyland and has met some people that used to work at universal studios. Keep in mind that this is retail but apparently universal studios is worser to work at than Disneyland.
My mom works at a Disney company and the layoffs have been really rough in her division, it’s absolutely disgusting that they’re doing this without any proper explanation or (noticable) reason
@@smidgenI mean covid costed Disney billions of dollars. From their parks and they have not returned to being full like they were before the pandemic. Less people = less employees. Disney also is not immune to inflation yes it’s a giant coorperation but u have to think. They employee an entire city of people. Bus drivers. Police force. Medical force. Sanitation decision entertainment. Running a multiple acre park with thousands of guests a day. Not to mention Disney world Wich is one of the largest privately owned properties ever. Has to be maintained and taken care of. They have gardeners cooks doctors actors. They are more well equipped than most cities. Then on the other hand they aren’t only a park. They dump billions into products and movies and entertainment. You can literally click an app on your phone and be connected to Disney content. They are one of the largest providers of entertainment in America and it spans to multiple countiries including Disney Tokyo. So yes go ahead and say. “ it’s greedy rich people want more money” when in reality. They are paying to run 3 of their own countries full time employing and paying every person that lives and works there and the amount of people coming into the park has cut in half. I’m surprised they aren’t laying off more people to try to recover
Well, every decision has consequences. It's sad that a lot of people are going to lose their jobs because of directors/executives/CEO's agendas and their unwillingness to turn to profit. I can only say shame on you, Disney.
Not only that, this is also suffering, the consequences of trying to get into fights with the conservative parents are in forcing certain ideologies onto side, parents and children. Because of that business practice of forcing ideology, Disney has lost $120 billion in 2022 alone. Reference that is five times NASA’s annual budget for 2022.
@@warrenrhinerson6373 I feel like that's just a transition period. Do you really think Disney will make less money from the LGBTQ+ and colored community....than kids of conservative parents? Also Disney conservative, since when? Donald duck was a fascist.
@@DinoandGalaxy performer CM's are hired under "Talent Contracts" Not "Employee Contracts." Once it expires, Disney can choose not to renew their contract with that talent. One of my friends sister who used to be Good Friends Snow White performed at Disneyland Anaheim, WDW, and finished her Disney Performance Career at Disneyland Paris.
Disney makes over 55million dollars a day from the parks division. They have plenty of money to play their employees they’ve raised the prices for everything, so why not give that money to the people who are doing the work? Universal, their main competitor, has raised their prices but they also raised the wages of their workers from 15$ to 17$. If Disneys main competitor can do it why can’t they? They care more about money than their workers which is absolutely terrible and why I don’t go to their parks. The happiest place on earth isn’t so happy anymore. Do better Disney. Do better.
Well, Disney has to start bringing in more revenue. But they also have to change their business practices. For context because a Disney constantly getting into fights with conservative parents and the state government of Florida Disney corporation has lost $120 billion in 2022 alone. Reference with the amount of money Disney lost in 2022, you could pay for NASA five times over.
They lost money cause they keep pulling crap like this I stopped going to Disney after Covid bc they were EXTREMELY strict with mask wearing policies and I almost had a heat stroke bc they would not let me take off my mask for two seconds of breath in Florida 💀also they are butchering all their new movies and being very bold with politics and views it’s not a family fun thing anymore they are also mentioning gay and trans characters to 3 year olds💀
So when Disney claims to be adding 15000 jobs with their $17 investment in WDW does that mean they are just looking to rehire the ones they fired for a net 0? Looks at us. We hired 15k after firing 20k.
that is probably mostly hourly front like CM's spots are getting hired also I wouldn't be surprised if some of these people get a call several months from now asking them to come back at a lower salary
Their tickets are becoming untouchable for average families. Families can travel cheaper to exoctic locations than they can to Disney. It's so sad for our future children that will not be as fortunate as we were. Do you think humanity will step up to help preserve it?
They overcharge, the park is packed with visitors, and there wasn’t that much staff to begin with. Yet some how there’s not enough money… management has got to go.
That’s ridiculous, Disney makes more than enough money to pay all employees plus some. They increase park prices every year, that increase more than covers salaries for those employees. Disney was all about making dreams come true, wishes, for children of all ages now it’s about the money, money, money. My family and I were there last year and were unhappy with the fact that now you had to make reservations for rides, restaurants etc…. What happened to enjoying yourself, away from everyday rumbles, we all go there to relax and have fun, not for appointments and reservations. The employees ALL employees that are there working are there because many of them really enjoy their jobs, without them there would be NO Disney. They need to keep the people that are there plus they deserve a raise, they really do work hard to make us all smile.
more and more companies care less about their clients, employees and morals and give more importance to money for overpaying the higher ups. Genuinely disgusting
Last time I visited Disneyland is was almost boring. There were no shows, no parades, not enough characters, and it was extremely lacking in entertainment. I’d never had a Disney experience that bad before. We had more fun at six flags for a fraction of the price.
Yep gotta cut 4 Billion from the budget. Canning the Florida Imginer campus saving 1Bill, the failed Star Cruiser and Canning worthless shows no one watched from Plus is a couple hundred mill. Need to cut more, more, more.
This totally sucks, laying off the people that can afford it least. Taking away the livelihood of low income families it’s like taking away, true love and your Prince charming.
If they were really serious about saving the company. Bob iger will cut the pay of all of the top brass until they get back into the black. But they won't because of their personal greed.
Disney employees r so unhappy. They get paid 🥜 peanuts. They charge an arm and a leg 2 get in. Rides r always broke. Lay off alot of the suits. I will never go back. I went in 2016. So not worth the money. Did not enjoy myself.
Yet the prices go up and the charge you for a fast pass now with this Genie+ and Lightning Lane. If prices are going up you should take that extra money to pay employees 🤦🏻♂️
All Disney has to do is sell some of the other companies it owns that’s not Disney related! Also lower theme park prices to get more people in to spend money while in the parks 🤯
I can’t say for sure because it’s Disney but It’s like the beginning of the end. Like when big companies lay off their staff. Then boom 1 year later they go out of business. What will save Disney now??? Idk
This happened because Disney forgot who their customers were. If they want to fix it, they still can, only if they cleanup behind themselves and remember that their customers are children. Good luck Disney. Not invested, I’m not eight years old anymore…
These are the reason I love bluey - its fun and joyful - it teaches morals - reflects to true life -is based on someones real life - the imagination - it is more than just a fun cartoon ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They don’t need that many people to run the parks they need to do what Elon did with Twitter and fire all these people who have this easy job with nothing to do but entertain Disney adults
They can do as many layoffs as they want it is their company. You might not like it, but it is reasonable for a company to wanna cut staff down if it is not needed for them.
They can't do this every characters important every character loved by a different person no matter if they're popular or not they can't just lay them off
