I sail on the Magic in July! First official Disney cruise! Thank you for an honest review. Excited that it dry docks before my trip!!!

Appreciate how candid you are about your experience. I’m older now and have a mobility issue so i doubt I’d cruise now but i have cruised a few times via Royal Caribbean and it was phenomenal! Ive never been to New Orleans but I’m definitely intrigued! I want to say I loved Sherri’s ears she wore on the last day of cruise!! Actually, all of hers ears were adorable!

Wouldn't it be great if they turned the Promenade lounge into the Snuggly Duckling?! It would make sense because the Wonder got a lounge that coordinated with the dining room. You should consider the transatlantic cruise we are going this May and are excited about 7 sea days and lots of menu's that they only do on the longer cruises. Totally enjoy your vlogs - keep being amazing!

Love this video, and I’m glad this trip redeemed y’all’s faith in the Magic! We had a similar experience to y’all’s first Magic cruise but on the Dream last year, and I’m really hesitant to go on the Dream again. Like Adam said, bad or good service can make you overlook or exacerbate the entire vacation experience. Side note: we barely missed y’all on the cruise. We were on the Magic 2 weeks before y’all and had thought about doing y’all’s itinerary!

We got off the MAGIC last month and you are right about the main chandelier. It’s pealing. You rally notice it on deck 5. There were a lot of little things not working or missing. Hopefully Disney will give her some love soon. Thanks for sharing your videos.

Going on the magic later this year for Halloween on the high seas. I didn’t know magic was doing a dry dock this year. So excited it will be refurbished before our cruise.

The reason I watch you is because you are honest and authentic. The last time I sailed on the Magic was 2003, and it was a beautiful, well-kept ship then. I can imagine that it is certainly showing its age now. And I was able to stay in your favorite sideways stateroom on the Wonder in 2020 before cruising shut down. It was so roomy, and we LOVED it! just wish it was available on the newer ships!

I have to say I’ve only sailed the Magic and it was 2019. I now cannot wait to sail another ship. My dream is the Wish cause I’m a Cinderella fan. But I love your honesty and it looked like y’all had fun no matter the shape of the ship. Glad you had safe travels. Be safe Adam as you travel for work.

Funny we thought the same as you but it was Cozumel that gave us the “mall” vibe. We were glad we went on the island excursion. We loved Grand Cayman. We did not do an excursion there, just explored and ate some local treats. We hunted for chickens, lol. I have never been on a cruise but noticed how much repair was needed. I was avoiding doing video in certain areas, it was not something I wanted to remember. I love your review though. We are planning another trip already. ❤

I feel like you guys have done so many Disney cruises that it would start to get old after a while. Luckily you got to have so many friends and viewers there and visit New Orleans to make it a little different. I’ve never been on any cruise and I would guess most families don’t get to go as often. Maybe try the Disney wish next to hopefully get a new experience? It was still fun to watch you guys on the cruise and I enjoyed all the videos. Hope you are back together soon. Crazy. As you said in your video, we were on the Wonder in November and that ship is so well taken care of!

It definitely seems like you two have DCL fatigue. It was already apparent in your vlogs from December. Many companies have gone downhill since the shutdown as far as quality and service and not just with DCL.

Love your feedback! My hubby and I were on the Magic in 2021 and we didn’t love it. Service was not great as you mentioned with your first. We did like the layout of the adult district being forward since that’s where we like our room to be but still prefer the Dream and Fantasy. We got off thinking it was nice but prefer the others. We then booked the Dream for 3 nights a few months later and cried when we got off it then booked the Fantasy and just got off the Dream a few weeks ago again 😂. We keep putting off the Wish but look forward to you trying it some day and hearing your thoughts! We tried to book your viewer cruise but it started the tail end of my spring break (teacher) and I couldn’t take off the extra days with all our other cruises this year 😂 maybe next time!

Disney Magic is my baby. I love that ship. It was my first cruise let alone my first disney cruise. I cruised Magic when it had Parrot Cay dinning room and double stair case in the atrium. We cruised her last year and not sure if I was just deciding to overlook things because she was so beautiful to me and it was so emotional to cruise her again.

While I loved the viewer cruise and spending time with so many new friends, this was not our best Disney experience. We felt like our servers were in training. Bless their hearts, they tried, but if we said anything, our server freaked out. One night, our assistant server could not get it together. Our stateroom attendant was amazing. The weather certainly didn’t help. We will be back on the Magic in October, and I am hoping that after a little dry dock love and a few more cruises for the staff, we will have a better experience. All that said…I am incredibly spoiled to be able to cruise as often as we have, and I don’t want to become so accustomed to the quality of service and food that I take it for granted. As always, a bad day on a cruise is better than a good day in reality.

One of the most popular things in Grand Cayman is the stingrays and it is a very cool experience as well as the sea turtle sanctuary. And yes 7 mile beach is very nice. Maybe give it one more chance. In Cozumel the all- inclusive beach clubs are very nice. Paradise Beach and Mr. Sanchos are the most popular and both are great to spend a day at.

I had the same high wave/ boat issues at Mackinac Island. I had to quick hand my 3 year old to the guy on the dock, then wait, then I could jump as there was 1 foot gap and then a 6 foot gap to jump to the dock. That's frightening!

Grand Cayman water is often rough but the island and the beaches are awesome. We went to stingray city and saw the turtle farm. Cozumel is more mall like for me. Paradise beach club is great in Cozumel. You need to go back to GC. Hopefully one day they will make a dock (one day).

I know you love Disney, but with the prices you are paying, maybe you can try another line, we have done 5 different lines, have gone all the way to the ABC island, are doing a Panama Canal this year, etc. you missed the most beautiful part of Grand Cayman, 7 miles Beach, it’s among the most beautiful beaches in the world. Believe me, we have done all the ports in Western and Eastern Caribbean plus the Southern Caribbean and we are in love with Cayman’s clear water and sandy beaches. Hope you decide to open your horizons and try other cruise lines, now we tried a lot of different ships, we only do, Celebrity, Royal and Princess! 😘 thank you again for the Disney journey!

I agree with Adam, shop/eat/drink Cozumel, and do a beach/turtle sanctuary /hell excursion. We did the turtle sanctuary and went to Hell (which was hilarious). Glad y’all had a good trip…looking at doing a Magic trip out of Galveston later this year.

Maybe try the Disney wish, I think they have different food at least in the quick service area and I think some of the main dining rooms as well. The are also redoing some rooms during the dry dock for the magic, I think it maybe more that isn't announced. Disney has announced the room changes back in Jan or Feb.

I have a cruise on the Dream in a few days and I am so curious about the Pirate Night menu!! I am in the minority; I love it. Maybe because I am a vegetarian and so the samosas, chilled mango soup, and Shanghai noodles are my jam? We shall see what awaits me on Pirate Night! Loved your whole vlog series!

You mentioned it’s going to dry dock this month. Seems like my august cruise in 2012. It was fresh the next time I cruise and falling apart in August. I’m skipping Pirate night on Wish 4 night and doing Palo, doing Back-2-Back 3/4 night. Getting board, book the Wish seems different things there Twice Charmed is my favorite while Tangled was Okay IMO. Magic is my favorite changed from Dream in October 2023 to Magic in August 2024

I fully agree. Ship needs a lot of TLC but the rest of the experience was what I expected from disney. Also, I definitely booked an inside sideways stateroom for my next cruise (sorry not sorry)

Only halfway through. My family was in the fantasy the week before your cruise. It was our 5th. My husband and I said the same thing after about the food. Dinners and getting ready take so much time away from other things and we didn’t think the food was worth it anymore for the time. Not that it wasn’t good but I’m never hungry going into them and we are bored with the same stuff As far as the sideways rooms I think the no split bath is a dealbreaker for a lot of people.

Hey new subscriber from the millars. thank you for this series loved it. Also thank you for your review it just confirmed my decision. I was looking to book a cruise for September this ( son 15th birthday 🎉) my option were magic and wish. This will be our first cruise i didn't want to start with the wish as i won't to see all the ship but i watch one vlog of the magic i felt like it was very dated and didn't want that so I just went with royal because of the private water park and I think my kids would like it better. But i sm doing marvel day in jan on the dream because i am dying to fo dcl

The Magic really needs some work done for sure! It is a one and done for me unless they make some changes to it like they did to the Wonder re: changing Promenade Lounge to Tiana’s Place the theming is so cool. Adam welcome to Colorado my home!

I agree with you about Grand Cayman. We did dolphin swims and sting rays but the rest of the island was blah

This was a fun series

So odd to hear about the condition of the ship. I'm an early riser and get up around 4 and the maintenance crews are always working, cleaning, repainting, revarnishing, etc every ship I've been on.

So, you’ve definitely reached the point where it’s time to branch out from Disney. As much as I adore DCL, once I tried Celebrity I was hooked. We probably do DCL every 3rd cruise now, because the food and itineraries are so much better on Celebrity, and the service is Disney caliber.

Had you known how bad the tender was ahead of time, would you have just stayed on the ship?

We just got off the last cruise and definitely saw the wear. Sadly they started prepping for dry dock before we were off so we then lost some of the “show” of a cruise as our last day/night railings and decks started to get covered. Service was nothing special. So disappointed compared to our first.

I understand your concerns with Disney shore excursions. Try booking shore excursions with someone who is a full time wheelchair user. We are going on the Fantasy in May for the seven night Eastern Caribbean cruise. The ONLY accessible excursion is on St. Thomas to Mountain Top. And the only way the three of us can go is if they get ten people to book it. So far they don't have ten people. Very disappointing for Disney not to rectify this. This will be our 6th Disney cruise.

The food thing was definitely Vacation Goggles. On our first cruise, I was confused about all the raves about the food. It's good, by and large, but not always (quality has gone down since Covid, as well as the variety of things offered in Cabanas) and it is largely the same menus across all the ships with the exception of Arrendelle/Rapunzel's/Tiana's. We had terrible service on the Dream in early March 2020. We had excellent service on the Magic in December 2022. But I do think the storm and the aftermath are clouding your opinion of how in need of repairs the Magic is. I guess we'll all see when she gets out of her short drydock. Rumors, even (especially?) from CM's aren't necessarily what's actually planned, as far as repair work, etc. People were swearing left and right that CMs told them the buffets were going to open again for dinner in late March across the ships, and that hasn't happened, as just a recent example.

While Disney has a lot of amazing pluses, many other Cruise lines do too, especially with food. Maybe you should try another Cruise line and give Disney a break for a couple of cruises.

Oh I was terrified for y’all seeing the water. If I was to let me daughter see that she would not go with us next month.

And i just don't see the "falling apart" thing people are mentioning. We were just on for 12 night WBTA in Sept 2022 and didn't notice anything like you mention.

My husband says he will never get on the Magic again😂 We sailed the first Marvel cruise from NYC-our first family vacation with 3 and 5-year-olds. The seas were ROUGH-even the crew was getting sick. I thought I would overdose on Dramamine I took so many! The kids club was awful, my eldest cried when he had to go-the cast members there were downright surly. Some older kids called it “toddler hell.” My little one has special needs, but the cast members were not trained on DCL accommodations so would not give me return times for meet and greets. We gave up on some of the long lines, but he met Minnie -his legs gave out and he had to crawl by the time we got to her and she got down on the floor to hug him. We made good memories, but I won’t return to that ship. I would like to try another ship, but I’d have to convince my husband!

7 Mile Beach in the Caymans and you need to see hell in the Cayman

Surprised to hear of a Disney cruise without a visit to Castaway Cay. That has to be super rare.

I never went on a Cruise how does getting food work when you eat at different places do you have a card?.

Going out of Port Canaveral is much better. Also, they are going to start sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale and to the new Lighthouse point.

This was our 2nd Disney Cruise and I can see that the same dining selections can become a. It boring. I thought that the food on the Fantasy was a little better quality. The steaks were a little dry on the Magic. I’m also glad we didn’t have the usual Pirate Night menu.

I loved the service on the Magic and the smaller size of the ship, but the internet was terrible. We couldn't use the app to message each other. It was like being stuck in 1990 when trying to communicate with family. They should have fixed the chandelier by now. The Fantasy and Dream are so much prettier!

I think food and service everywhere has went down since the shutdown 🥴 The Magic is a great ship. I think the dry dock is to add concierge rooms…which I am not a fan of. Part of the problem on the Wish🤷🏻‍♀️ (Disney needs to update menus…but the minute they do all the Disney fans will complain 😂)

Loved hearing your take on your cruise. My family and I actually embarked on the Magic the day you disembarked, so it was an interesting comparison on the 2 cruise experiences. I, too, was disappointed with the upkeep of the ship. Nothing that was overly problematic (although the fabric on our deck chair ripped our first night on board when my husband sat in it- quite comical- they did replace it quickly though), but definitely things here and there. I was sitting in the waiting area of Senses and there was a huge water puddle on the bench next to me from a leak in the roof, and it hadn’t even rained for the previous 2 days. My 16 year old agrees with your take on the pasta pursettes--she loved them so much when we sailed the Fantasy 3 years ago that she ordered 4 servings of them instead of an entree that night and said they were “just okay”. Our service was good- the assistant was very in tune with the drink preferences of my family, but they seemed so rushed that we never got to know them and have conversations like we had on our previous cruise. Cozumel was amazing- sorry your weather did not hold up. We did our own excursion to Paradise Beach for the day and had a blast-all inclusive resort with food and drink included, as well as private beach access and a pool. Highly recommend checking it out if you head back that way. Definitely left me wanting a little more when all was said and done. Will we cruise Disney again- probably. We did get a placeholder before we left ship. Will we also entertain other cruise lines? For the price and recent experience….definitely. Glad you guys made it home safely! Can’t wait to see what your next adventure will be!

I totally felt the same way about the Magic (and this was #2 for me as well). We're booked to sail on her for the Westbound Panama Canal in October. I'm waiting to see the post-dry dock reviews before we make our final payment and commit...

Did the ship when it first came out. It was set for old ship an was great ! The Chandelier is not the original one which was by a glass artist that was famous at the time. ❤watching you guys. The ship rooms on the early ships are larger that was one of the big selling points. Sad that the new ships are smaller rooms.

I know Royal refreshes the menu…. Doesn’t disney??? 🤔 they probably put Disney magic in this particular market because it’s small and the girl is old 🤷🏻‍♀️

We just got off the Magic on Sat (4/1). This was my 10th cruise and first on the Magic. I’ve sailed on the Wonder six times, most recently in Feb of this year. The Wonder is in much better condition than the Magic! The Magic just felt worn. Agree that the menus need updating. Strange that we DID have the pirate menu on our pirate night last week. Enjoyed your reviews!

I loved Grand Cayman in the past. We actually are about to go on our first DCL with our girls and stopping at Grand Cayman. But after seeing a lot of the beaches completely eroded from hurricanes I don't think we are getting of the ship when we stop there. We would get off it our girls snorkeled but they don't and I don't think the beaches will be worth it. Looking forward to going to Castaway with them though!

we were on 12 nights Transatlantic last year on Magic, not a fan of food quality - bad enough for me put in comment card 😢 and agree with Black truffles pasta was so much worse than first time we had it

I watched your royal princess to Alaska series and decided to watch this one just because I've never wanted to go on Disney Cruise lines and I thought maybe the vlog would change my mind. It didn't. There were a couple of entrees where I thought the food might have been slightly better. But not significantly better. Plus most of the Disney stuff I'm just not really interested in. I don't care if I see Mickey or Donald. Plus what has really stopped me to be honest is it seems like it's more family. So lots of kids. And my husband and I are 60 and we're just not into spending a lot of time with a lot of kids. I also for some reason always had this image that the Disney ships were really super nice! I'm not saying there was anything wrong with it. But I've certainly been on nicer ships. For instance, the Royal Princess looked much nicer than this ship you were just on. It was fun to watch however.
