Don't forget that he was dumb enough for Jafar to control him. I mean I'm not sure how dumb you're supposed to be controlled but I'm pretty sure in real hypnotism, you have to have a weak mind to be controlled or something. At least I'm pretty sure that's how it's explained in movies and I think Jafar would've tried to hypnotize Jasmine too if he could. I guess that's technically not his fault though but he seemed kind of ditzy and not caring about Jasmine. Not sure if that was the hypnotizing or the bad parenting skills though. Kind of hard to tell which ones him and which is Jafar
What about Pongo and Perdita from 101 Dalmatians? I think they would definitely be an S, Because aside from saving their own 15 puppies, they saved an additional 86 that weren’t even theirs and decided to raise the others as well
Ok what about the absolute god tier of all Disney parents Goofy. No kidding, he's a single dad who knows he's not the brightest but does everything he can to make sure his son Max is happy. His biggest fear is that Max is growing up fast and his time where he can be a big influence and major part of his life is soon going to be gone. I want to point out from multiple shows, shorts, and movies Max is a little snot. Goofy is by no means wealthy but impresses on Max the importance of helping others and going out of your way to make everyone around you just a little happier. Despite Pete regularly treating him like garbage and trying to engage him in one upping contests, Goofy basically models humility and compassion regularly for Max. I think you were a little generous with the S tier rankings, and at the same time left out the best S tier parent of all.
Belle’s dad I can blame the times they lived in. Back then good nutrition wasn’t even a thing and believed that sugar would make them smell sweet. Instead of ruining their health entirely and rotting their teeth. Life was hard so eating comfortably was a easy luxury.
@@insertusername4079 But if you look at the town it's still well off due to their agriculture. Most farmers back then had plenty of food even after the nobles took their share. Overeating anything can make you fat, especially things like bread and cheese which wasnt a luxury food. Overeating was one of the few luxuries a peasant had, especially since in some areas plump men and women signalled they were well off enough to take care of themselves.
He also didn't include Pongo and Perdita, who I would probably rate as S parents too for risking everything to save their pups. It is rather telling that most of the S rated parents are animals...
@@Rachel-su1fb There are also Pongo and Perdita's people, who were paternal enough to all the pups to buy housing space for all of them, and Dalmatians need room to run.
I think I’m general altruism is more prominent in non human animals. Humans have adapted the ability to be selfish for the sake of it rather than just for personal survival.
You never included the aristrocats! Durchess protected all 3 kittens and raised them to be artists at the same time all while putting her kittens before her boyfriend. She is a top tier Mom there. And Thomas O Mally became a top tier step dad!
He's by far the best step parent in All of Disney Rivaled and equaled only by Dory from Disney/Pixar because both didn't have to help but decided they wanted to anyways and just got attached to their kids like right away. Omalley literally risked his life for Duchess and the kittens more than once and taught them all about like everything in the world outside their sheltered bubble and Duchess was a great mom too. Her family including the madam was her top priority and while she was a little naive at times like not beliving the kittens about Edgar and worrying so much about just getting home that she was willing to let everyone get exhausted she did a lot to teach them and to keep them safe and well. They're absolutely some of my favorite parents in Disney. So are Dory and Marvin even though he has that same "too overprotective" parent thing. And Lady and Tramp were kinda the same way just they could and did only do so much to find Scamp and Tramp was so pissed after their argument he wasn't willing to look/be worried at first... but the fact they were willing to go to the lengths they did to help Scamp and make Angel feel welcome in their family was sweet. I've come to the conclusion. Animals make some of the best parents in Disney.
I love that you put Tiana's parents in the top tier I think sometimes her movie gets overlooked! She had great parents. One of my favorite Disney movies.
Of course outside of Cinderella she is the only Princess that rolled up her sleeves and carried her ass to work. The mentality came from her dad. I bet if they did a years later movie she still working
Moana’s parents: DONT GO TO THE OCEAN! Also Moana’s parents: *names her moana* Ps, moana means ocean. (I saw this meme somewhere so if I’m wrong, I send my apologies)
@@samt991 Ignorant of what? Ignorance is just not having the knowledge. Stupidity is having access to the knowledge, but not being smart enough to understand it. Ignorance isn't an insult, stupidity is. And all I said was that I learned "moana" meant ocean in Maori. I'm sure you're pretty ignorant when it comes to the native language (however, it is very similar to Hawaiian and Samoan).
For Tarzan's parents: Considering how long sailing took back then, I always assumed they got pregnant/ birthed Tarzan while on the ship. Or maybe they set sail when she was newly pregnant (first few months when tummy doesn't show yet)
On top of that, Disney has since then come out and said that Tarzan's parents *are* in fact also Anna and Elsa's parents. Nine times out of ten they didn't even realize that she was pregnant when sailing for whatever they had to do. I think it was a wedding.
Eh, Mom would have to be obviously pregnant. Unless this is a different sized planet, It would be 3 months on ship MAX. From England to America it takes 6 weeks. (longer if the wind sucked, obviously) so she either already had the baby before they got on the ship, OR she was very, very pregnant when they took the trip. Which back in those days a well-bred woman (she was a queen so..) was placed in confinement in the last few months of pregnancy and wouldn't be allowed out of her chambers, much less on a ship.
@@Melissa-wx4luDepends on the urgency of the sailing. If it was more cruise-ship type, they could have been out for a long while. We just don't know. We'll never know what led to the sinking of the ship and how Tarzan was conceived. We only have the before and the after points now.
@@BrokensoulRider I wouldn't think they would go on a pleasure cruse while pregnant. Not that being on a sailing ship in those days was fun. But if it was an emergency, that I could see. Were they fleeing for some reason? ect.
Failure Bee that theory is false since the mums hair was light brown/ginger in Tarzan but dark in frozen. Same thing goes for the dad but the other way round
Yeah, Jon, you're right about all but one. My only correction is Frollo... He belongs in the z tier since he used his frustration to burn down a decent fraction of France for said Gypsy...
9:18 "Tarzan would've probably wound up being a Calvin Klein model or something like that. I mean look at the dude's jawline" Where's the lie though??!!!!
They did everything they could with what little they had. And their great parental skills are further shown with the series. Solid S tier. Yizma on the other hand, F tier. She raised him to become a spoiled brat who thought he was a god, and then tried to kill him off.
I love how he says everything with a completely flat expression and with a flat toned so when he lands a joke it becomes even more funny because he didn't even so much as smirk
Well, Sarabi didn't play much of a role in her son's life. Mufasa was pretty strict with Simba. Zazu was incompetent at playing babysitter and not to mention they set up their son when he was still a cub with his best friend. Why didn't Sarabi actually go visit the sight where her son and husband died? Did she even see their bodies or just believe Scar when he said Simba was dead? Timon and Puumba pretty much took once Mufasa got the ax. Timon and Puumba came off as more best friends that raised a lion because they didn't want to be food. They didn't give Simba the proper diet he would technically need in the real world because eating a bunch of bugs would have left him emaciated. I mean what type of parent child relationship is it when you're afraid of your own kid because they are bigger and stronger than you?
I'd put Tiana's parents in tier A, because she obsessed over work and getting the restaurant, and at the end she learned that there are more important things.
I defend Maurice in the fact that French cuisine is very fattening, and he was clearly preoccupied with his inventing hobbies rather than being athletically inclined. Also I'm biased because that is my favorite Disney movie of all time, lol. I give Maurice an S!
Also given that the time Beauty and the Beast takes part in, being overweight was actually considered "fashionable". Showing that you had enough wealth to feast yourself, instead of being too poor to get a proper meal and therefore be skinny.
Jocelyn also he had absolutely no knowledge that being overweight could be linked to lowered lifespan. Except for gout, and he was too limber for that, the data just wasn’t there. They did know that if the crops failed or there was a war that caused shortages Maurice would survive that better. If he was sick/injured and couldn’t eat and they were dribbling broth down his unconscious throat he’d have a few more days of energy inside while he fought the virus or his head injury receded. Someone forgets to feed him in their dungeon or insane asylum, he’s better off. Gaston wasn’t weight lifting for improvement in cardiovascular health, and at the time of the movie eggs were considered bad due to cholesterol (today eating normal amounts is generally considered okay) and Gaston was not eating normal amounts. Generally the slightly overweight guy who has a profession in which he is using tools and moving sizable things regularly is going to do better than a guy who works out for muscle form. Bodybuilders who decide to try martial arts find quickly the size of the muscle isn’t as important as knowing how to kick. Maybe he can fire a bow or something given his trophies but put him against a red headed Scottish princess and he will look like that son introduced to Merida quickly.
I know your comment was a week ago but Beauty and the Beast is my favorite movie too, so I'm glad someone defended lil Maurice, I totally agree with you! Honestly I love Maurice owo
There were also Prince Philip's parents, although I think only his father is shown. Much better parents than Aurora's although his father was considering going to war with someone who had been a friend over a percieved slight.
I don't know where the Sultan would rank? Forcing Jasmine to get married, but making her happy with what she wants. He was tricked by jafar on who knows who my occasions
Bro. Chinese women didn't have a choice. Because Back then, if you weren't a pesant, you probably had to marry a stranger with many concubines and wives
Not just that but how about the fact the only reason they didn't go after her was because if they had she would have been killed. Their idleness wasn't bad parenting, Mulan had honor, determination, a love for her father and a desire to bring honor to her family. This is not a bad thing if anything this shows her parents raised a strong woman that was so Loyal and loving to her family she would rather risk loosing her life then watch her father leave and not come home. They do not deserve a B ranking they should at least be in A if not S because of this.
@@kylealords9164 Right?! His line at the end of the movie should've gotten him an A! "The greatest gift and honor, is having you for a daughter." Spoken like an S or A class parent.
Parent rankings what they mean. S: Superb and excellent parents A: Great parents B: Good parents C: Neutral/average parents D: Bad parents E: Terrible parents F: Horrible and vile parents
Same thing with the Sultan/Jasmine's dad. He clearly cares so much for Jasmine. He even goes as far to rewrite and out date marriage law just for Jasmine to be happy. But just like Murrice in Beauty and the Beast. The Sultan of Agribaha is also clearly not taking care of his health which is why he Too belongs in the A Tier but not the S Tier.
He said he wouldn’t live long to be with belle and meet her grandchildren not fat shaming.he also didn’t want to put him low so he put him A tier is just close to S tier but little flaws.
True, but that movie was made over 20 years later, and, even if you do assume that his wife’s accidental death by humans is the reasoning for his prejudice in the original film, he never explains this to Ariel, her sisters, Sebastian, or anyone else. He just avoids the conversation in his grief and fear. Plus, it was an accidental death, not a purposeful one. I will give him some credit. He was never a physically abusive or restrictive parent, nor did he ever belittle and mock Ariel or his daughters. He wasn’t a deliberately malicious abuser, and he did genuinely love his kids. He felt remorse, and made sacrifices for Ariel at the end because he ultimately wanted her to be safe and happy. However, he fell into the self-sabotagingly avoidant, illogically strict, short tempered, and violently overprotective emotionally/psychologically abusive dad territory on occasion, too, because he was too afraid to open up. What I do find interesting, but ironically, completely believable, is the fact that Ariel went on to parent Melody in a similarly self-sabotagingly overprotective without a good explanation manner to try to keep her from being hurt by Morgana in the sea. Granted, she was still a better parent to her than Triton was to her. She was never cruel to Melody. She just kept her from far off in the sea and never told her the truth about her life as a mermaid because she was afraid of her getting hurt. Not a great parenting tactic, but not abusive. It does absolutely make sense that Ariel would pick up Triton’s seemingly illogical overprotective parenting trait when she thought Melody was in danger, though. We’re not all doomed to make the same mistakes our parents made with us as kids if we decide to have kids of our own someday. However, we’re also often influenced by the attitudes, beliefs, flaws, and parenting styles of the adults who raise us for 18 years because they were responsible for shaping our view of the world.
For Mary Poppins and Peter Pan: These kids were raised in the late 19th/early 20th century England, where all middle or upper class parents were required or expected to have a nanny. Just using historical context to defend their decisions.
I agree with almost all of these. Except Aurora's parents (sleeping beauty). I think they should've been D or C, not E. My reasonings: It was their first child. Parents normally are protective of their first child. They didn't invite maleficient yes, but don't think they thought she'd appear and curse their daughter. Remember the curse, Aurora's Mom ran over to pick her up to try and protect her in a way. They loved their daughter. Like any parent, you hear your child is going to die, you'll do whatever it takes to try and keep it safe. No matter what. The good fairies approached the King and queen saying they could protect their child to live past her 16th birthday. They're the good fairies after all, supposed to be trustworthy and everything. They didn't just let them take then and forget. They "watched with heavy hearts" as she was taken by the fairies to be safe. They made a sacrifice of seeing their baby to keep her safe. He banned the object that was supposed to kill her, to keep her safe. Yes, I agree it was maybe a little extreme and that, which is why they shouldn't be high-high up. But I don't think they should be as low as you put them. Personally thinking. [Otherwise, like I said. Agree to the others and like this]
Especially since they said they had trouble conceiving to begin with, so when they finally had a baby, they probably assumed she would be the only one they'd have. First and foremost they'd need an heir for their kingdom, so that meant protecting her at all costs. Think of the steps the British monarchy goes through to protect their lineage and they don't even technically rule anything anymore.
It's also worth noting that by burning and banning spinning wheels in his kingdom, King Stefan was essentially sacrificing the health of his kingdom's economy for the sake of his daughter's safety. It is clear Aurora's parents were willing to do anything they thought was necessary just to insure she'd live and quit frankly, I think they were in a really tough spot there. Maleficent wasn't invited because she was known to just be cruel for the EVULZ. Once she appeared the monarchs did everything in their power to try and be courteous to her. Merriweather's remark only served to seeming give her latitude to do what she probably would have done already and really short of sending his army to attack Maleficent in the Forbidden Mountains, I don't know how King Stefan could have responded better to protect his daughter in this scenario. I am sure he thought the fairies would have a better chance of protecting her than he could since they possess magic themselves while he and his people do not.
Aurora grew up without even knowing who her parents were and and she was raised isolated in the forest where she couldn't meet anyone to fall in love it so it wouldn't be as easy to break the curse
Tarzan was newborn when that happened so they had him on the ship I suspect that they weren't expecting him so soon maybe leaving a bad situation from where they lived...I say that because if you look you'd see that they brought all their valuable.stuff with them
yeah like what??? And for sleeping beauty's parents its like "you should've invited this evil person to stay on her good side. E tier." Thats like telling your parents to invite a pedophile or serial killer to your birthday party because better safe than sorry.
Michelle Isnt Awesome Williams both of you could drink more water. It does wonders. Look up what times to drink water. Usually 30 mins before you eat food and at least a cup when you first wake up as examples. I know it’s hard but little steps. God bless!
@@SavortheMomentblog Thank you, but don't worry. I make sure to drink a lot of water to make up for the fact that I'm not the healthiest. Plus, water is one of my favourite things to drink ^/^
For real I thought he would get knocked for putting so much time and energy into a fruitless hobby instead of working to support his young daughter not for being overweight
Elsa and Anna's parents get F tier. They don't try to kill them but after the magic accident, they essentially make no effort to heal their family. They just shut everything in, make Elsa terrified of herself and don't even celebrate their Christmas-like celebration. They're awful and they better not be alive in the sequel or their actions shouldn't be justified.
u have to do another one be cause u forgotten about 101 Dalmatians Land & the Tramp II Treasure Island Brave .....p.s. Hope you are feeling. better from having surgery
Plus she was a persecuted minority in friggin 15th century france, a presumably single mother, AND tried to care for a deformed baby in a time where people would have been insanely cruel to him. She didn't get much screen time but she clearly did the best she could.
That was a real life trauma effect of Walt's life.. He bought his mother a new home and she passed away from carbon monoxide poisoning in her new home. Walt frequently killed off Disney mom's after that...
@@Gnomelotte depends on who's telling which "original". The sleeping beauty tale has been retold in a few different cultures, in different ways, with different characters. There's a few different versions of Cinderella and Snow White (one of which the evil queen is actually her biological mother)... Disney has its own brand and version of the classics. However, Disney has had mother's dying off in a big wat since Bambi, The Fox and The Hound.. Very heavy stuff for kids cartoons
You mean fictional anthropomorphic (meaning nonhuman things with human qualities) animals conceived by real people with mannerisms and actions they see fit in parents they’d imagine having. While also forsaking any negative traits that come with real animals with regard to parenting.
I'm curious if he'd include Silver in the conversation...obviously not Jim's biological father, but a waaaaay better father for him than Leland Hawkins.
i feel like King Triton should have at least gotten a C, because his fear of humans is justified since his wife and the mother of his children, was murdered my humans. also he was a single dad to 7 daughters and the ruler of a kingdom, so he had a lot on his plate. he was scared of loosing Ariel not only because of what happened to Athena, but i think also since Ariel resembles Athena the most, so that probably made him even MORE scared. he just wanted to protect his family.
I think Arial would have acted differently if her Father explained it to her instead of just yelling and being a bully about it. How does anyone expect "Because I said so." to work?
@@Melissa-wx4luI agree 100% If Triton had just Told Ariel The Truth and had gotten anger management. He would have been in the C Tier. The Sleeping Beauty parents belong in E because when Arora grows up we never here from then again therfore never find out if they learned from their mistakes just like another set of live action parents. The Hocus Pocus parents who never made this list who also clearly belong in the E tier. But Like the Marry Poppins parents, plus other over protective Disney parents who should have made the list Ariel and Simba just like Triton all end up learning from their mistakes at the end of their movies and Thats why they are in the D rank. Yzma is another parent not on this list that clearly belongs in the F tier.
I think he was referring to the original story of Beauty and The Beast in which Belle asks her father for a single rose while he was out on a trip. He picked said rose from the Beasts garden and Beast didn't take to kindly to it.
I’m just not sure about Tarzan parents...I would give then an A because they look like they were rich people or something and still managed to build a treehouse from scratch in the jungle while taking care of a baby. They died, yes, but they hide their baby from the leopard to protect him, it was unfortunate they died but at the end, they loved Tarzan so much. P.s. And also. They were badass enough to escape from a boat ON FIRE!!
You could almost do a second list.. Alice in wonderland live action..Her mom Jasmines dad Kidas dad Meridas parents brave Phineas and Ferbs Parents Pongo and Perdita from 101 Milo murphys parents.
Some of these characters’ analysis I feel aren’t accurate because of the different time periods they were written in. For example, the nanny thing was a common practice in the past and some circumstances with the other parents could be viewed in a different way, like the Maurice opinion: “he’s fat, not a good father” (paraphrased obviously)which in my opinion is a horrible reason and the fact that we don’t see that much of the way he acts as a parent. Multiple of these opinions come off as *not as well thought out* to me. Not trying to spread hate, just how I view it.
Kala is also worthy of an S tier because she showed Tarzan where he came from and accepts his decision to leave with Jane and co to London, that is a mother worth being there for.
I feel like more people should start saying that Tangled is a lot like The Hunchback of Notre Dames story rather than them saying that Hunchbacks story is a lot like Tangled, since Hunchback came before it, it deserves to be known as much as Tangled
I think that Tarzan's parents had no intention of having a newborn with them at sea, but ship voyages during that time were PRETTY LONG. I was under the impression that he was born at sea because of how how young he was at the time.
Actually Tiana’s father does deserve to be in S-rank because there was a scene where it showed - I believe a medal that is given to soldiers who died in battle battling not only the enemy forces but saving the lives of his fellow soldiers in the process.
I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment but I’ve been watching your channel for a really really REALLY long time, probably the first 200 subscribers and I LOVE how much more comfortable you are in front of the camera?? The way you make jokes with us and just look happier while filming and like you’re having a lot of fun which makes me really happy!! :) (Also yes I agree with this tier list and strongly exhaled in laughter when you said, how many of you agree with me and how many are completely wrong lmao) Man I love this channel Anyway, hope you’re doing gr8 fam, take care :) can’t wait for more uploads!!💕💕 keep doing what you love :)
Tarzan's parents get a pass because the only reason that ship sank was a freak accident. That's like asking "Why did people go on the titanic?" Because big ships are usually pretty safe from sinking out in open water without interference from storms and the occasional Sperm Whale attack(Which was still uncommon back in the 18th-19th century).
Yeah. And considering the fact that travelling internationally as a family was usually for business, diplomatic, or military purposes, I doubt they hopped on a boat for no reason. Plus, as mentioned, most boats usually arrived at their destinations.
Yooo to say Belle’s dad is less of a parent because he is “fat” is wack!!!! You don’t know if he has a condition or if it’s just genetics 😡😡 Soo no I don’t agree with you. Plus he did a great job raising Belle as a strong smart and adventurous woman. Dude recap that parent!
I 100% agree on Elsas parents. When the trolls tell them at fear would be what causes her down fall her parents choose to fear and hate what she was. Verses what they were told the opposite to do, they were told to embrace and love the power which would lead to good. Her parents weren’t good at keeping it contained. And also 100% agree with Sarbi and Mufasa.
I'll echo cinema therapy and give the benefit of doubt that maybe they took "fear is your enemy" not as "if you fear your powers, you'll never actually be able of controlling them", but as "if others fear your powers, you'll have enemies blinded to reason". Of course, it doesn't actually make much sense, but it's not too big of a strech if we remenber that witchcraft panic was quite real and, very Disney style, a self fulfilling profecy (the parents' fear blinded them from reason and made them see Elsa's powers as a threat rather than a gift, like they feared the people would)
This video isn't messed-up at all, yet I enjoyed it immensely! Wish it was longer, though. What about the Sultan; Goofy; Pongo/Perdita? (Not counting Pixar parents, obviously) Great arguments for each one, fantastic video, and I know my opinion is the right one because I agree with you 100% Cheers, Jon!

This is probably the only video of yours that I’ve looked at the comments 😄 Usually I hear your videos while I’m cleaning it keeps me entertained. Thanks for your videos 😊
Awesome list! Question though...Isn't Kerchak from Tarzan a step dad somehow? - I love the list it would have been cool to also see other parents like Pongo and Perdita from 101 Dalmatians+Bonnie and Stu Hopps from Zootopia+Charlie and Jenny from Finding Dory+King Frederic and Queen Arianna from Tangled+ and the parents from The Incredibles+The Good Dinosaur+Brave+Toy Story (If we include Pixar)
For the most part I agree except in my (correct) opinion belle’s dad should be in the S category. He did everything in his power to protect her while also not restricting her like aurora’s parents. His health took a hit but he really can’t be blamed for that. I feel as though you may have just had to find an issue with him so that the A category wouldn’t have been entirely empty. Otherwise great video
After watching frozen 2 and getting more back story about Elsa's parents and their trip has it caused you to rethink your placement of Agnar and Iduna?
Because animals are designed for better parenting abilities than humans. Which is why Pongo and Purdy and Dutchess were all skipped because there would be no more room to store anymore disney parents in the S column.
I can think of a few you missed. Merlin (The Sword in the Stone) A Bob Cratchit [Mickey Mouse] and wife [Minni Mouse] (Christmas Carol) S Scrooge McDuck (Ducktales the Movie) A or B Goofy (A Goofy Movie) S Not a movie but, Darkwing Duck AKA Drake Mallard (Darkwing Duck) S Mother and Father Greywolf (The Jungle Book) ?
Eh I wouldnt say the fairies from Sleeping Beauty were incompetent, considering how Aurora survived to be sixteen, I'd say the fairies did a good job raising her. Which is more than what I can say about the abominable versions in the live action remake.
I feel like your reaaally reaching for some of these like with Tarzan's parents. Basically your saying, " If they just had future predicting powers they never would have gone on a boat and crashed." I mean if I went on a cruise with my kid and it starts to sink, would that make me an awful parent? I love your videos btw and for the most part I agree with you. But with some of these your really reaching and bringing up circumstances that no one can do anything about .
I agree. Someone in another post pointed out that the ship was carrying most of their valuables so its assumed they were moving some where else. Probably America.
Peter Pan was there, the Darling are the only parents in the original Peter Pan movie, but the Aristocats were missing!!!! T_T And Duchess and Thomas were great!
