Aza Belle azainthestars They were all damn good in this one. Best Alladin, best Jasmine, Jafar was great, whole performance was great. If not for the camera man completely missing the aerial shots above the stage entirely this would be the best recording of the show available.
When I was younger I lived in about 45 mins away from Disneyland, I was an AP member. My family considered this show a "must do", every time we were in the parks were tried to see this show at least once. I never had a bad experience with this show, the cast was always 100%, genie always had relevant and new jokes....... no seriously I don't think I ever heard him use the same joke. This was such a great show, I honestly don't know why Disney would choose to get rid of it.
Funny you should mention that, because in 2010, there were plans to replace this particular performance at the Hyperion Theater with Toy Story the Musical, which had previously been performed on the Disney Cruise. However, the Aladdin performance was relentlessly extended for six more years due to the numerous complaints that announcement had easily triggered.
I used to be an AP holder too & I saw this show everytime I went to the park. When it was ending, I made it a point to go several times a week just to see it & saw it twice in one day on its last day. The show was magical & funny & I loved Genie, Jasmine & Aladdin. All of their voices were amazing! I lived to hear what jokes Genie was going to tell each time I saw it. Dylan White was an incredible Genie!
Billy Kametz, this perfomance's Aladdin, passed away a year ago. I still miss him terribly, but seeing the joy his work brought to so many people makes things a bit easier. May you rest in peace, Billy. We'll never forget you.
R.I.P Billy Kametz You were a wonderful voice actor with countless of fans and even though it saddens me about your lost to colon cancer it's great to watch all of these old videos seeing you do what you do best.
I remember seeing this so long ago. And I didn’t know that Billy Kametz, one of my favorite voice actors, played Aladdin here. I’m thankful that I got to see him in person at least once, before he unfortunately passed away due to colon cancer. May he Rest In Peace ❤
IKR?!? I watched the show a long time ago, and I had no idea it was him! When I heard he passed away, and I checked in him, that’s when it smacked me in the face! I didn’t even know he was Aladdin!
I can understand most people being irritated with the "cringe-worthy pop culture references" but during Aladdin, Robin Williams made COUNTLESS pop culture references by using his huge library of voices to create a magnificent character. Knowing that no one can truly replicate anything that man could do, I bet they made these references as a devotion to his genius.
G Gherardini its not the references themselves that people are getting irritated its the fact that they are so forced in. The writers for this seem to think the references were the only part of the genie's character just trying to throw in as many as possible and made them as obvious as possible. In the original the references were more subtle and the genie had some touching moments without having a reference shoved in.
after re-watching bits and pieces of it, I can see where you are coming from now. The writers for this type of show will never be anywhere near Robin as far as what they can pull off from a comedic standpoint with his subtle, yet wildly hilarious, pop culture references. The script is pretty straight forward with the references after re-watching it!
honestly if that's the convention for each time the genie is casted i'm completely alright and even happy to update the pop culture references. That is super cool.
This Aladdin actor is very good. I've seen other performance, but theyre not as good as this actor. The way he stands, his movements, and his energy is very spot on. He's a believable Aladdin.
Exactly! My school is going to be performing this play and I've auditioned for the carpet! I don't have a very loud voice and I'm naturally very expressive and theatrical with my movements so I honestly feel this role would be perfect for me!
I’m only seeing this now and still can’t get over the tech in this show. Like omg look at how fast the set changes! And the costumes!! AND THE DANCE IM CRYING Edit: ALSO THE PUPPETS OMG HOW COULD I FORGET THE PUPPETS AND PUPPETEERS?
@@sadblob4577 I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the actor playing Aladdin here, Billy Kametz, passed away from Colon Cancer a few days ago (the news broke earlier today). After doing this show, he had a short but prolific career as a voice actor for anime, animation, and video games. RIP, he was one of the best
How is it that a musical theater can do a much better job at performing Aladdin than the 2019 live-action Disney film? The acting in this musical is wonderful and they follow the original story.😄
I've watched a lot of Broadways. From New York to LA. To this date, this is still my favorite show to date. I watched each and every time I went to DCA. I was very sad when it ended. All good things... Each Genie that played the role deserves to go on to Hollywood and become A listers!
There were so many great things about this. The genie, the flying carpet, the constant fourth wall breaks, the references, and how perfect the actors were
@Failingpepper 11 I'm autistic. This slur has been used against fellow neurodivergent people, the mentally ill, the mentally disabled, and the physically disabled.
Billy Kametz, the actor playing Aladdin here, was recently diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. Sending him my well wishes and I hope he is able to win his fight against cancer! ❤
@@Tiepobadaae right now about the necessities of a society. What’s the possibilities ( or not) of the Theater as an Art in this moment hipermordern that we are leaving right now ?
Billy Kametz' voice was SO good for this production. Now he's a big game / anime voice actor and the acting is still superb, was surprised to recognize him here! Also, he's BUFF
This attraction did not deserve to be retired. I understand the need for a place in which to perform a musical based on Frozen, but this musical was extremely popular throughout its existence and played some of the pop culture references in the original film.
The genie. Just the genie. He somehow captured the spirit of Robin Williams and he played the part *perfectly* . everyone was so amazing in their parts and Jasmine's princess voice is just a delight to hear and oh my gosh Aladdin is perfectly cast. A wonderful wonderful musical!!!
This is the best play i have ever seen in mu whole life. The characters, genie, jafar, and aladdin played their roles so well. even the magic carpet was fun! The whole sets were designed so amazingly, even the lighting, stage crew, alot of props to all of them because that was honestly the best play ive ever saw!
Honestly this was done really well. The set designs were just beautiful. Aladdin was charming, the genie was hilarious and Jafar was despicably wicked.
It’s actually amazing how much Aladdin sounds like the Aladdin on the movie!!! Love how new and original the genie is my fav route part was when... Jasmine: your just another fake Genie: *OHHHH BYE FELICIA!!!*
I agree, that's one of my fav bits, but it must have hurt a lot, I swear, how people can drop down on knees or whatever, I have done it more then once and I swear the pain is real if you even drop onto your knees! So how he dropped down so quickly, on all fours... That cannot have been painless
Super adorable. That sexy slide over the balcony got some well deserved cheers. I never thought of carpet as a sassy lady, but now she can't be anything else he he .
We saw the show in early February. We had beautiful seats. Major Attaway had us in stitches from beginning to end. And yes there was a couple right next to us recording. The female even took a pictures with flash. The Usher caught them three times and never threw them out. It was very distracting. But non the less this is the best Broadway show by far. In my mind nothing would ever surpass the Lion King but Aladdin did.
But I’m sure there’d be some noise of him running around barefoot and it might hurt after a while - especially with all the rehearsals and the section at the start.
I'm gonna show this to my English club high school students, using this as an activity for listening and speaking and also writing practice. Oh I also really enjoyed watching it. I almost felt like I was watching the show in a real theater. So touching. Thanks so much for sharing this. The actor who did Genie is really good at applying the audience's talk in the show to make it so fun! All the actors are also soooooooo talented! So impressed with their singing voice and acting~ Thank you all whoever worked for this show!
@truejustice Well, it's an adaptation to the original story. Can't argue with your opinion, but you're the only one who said it was an insult to literature.(when I go to aladdin videos where people talk about the remake). Not that there's anything wrong with that, lol.
It always impressed me wth the various actors who played genie, they kept the same humor robin williams (r.i.p) emphasized, the 4th wall and refrence making, while being their own humor as well. I hope some people can keep tht up in future showins of aladdin elsewhere!
I'm here because of school but god damn i got a kick out of this. The references everything, Miley Cirus got burned. Run forest run, by fearlica, and one other roast. Executed amazingly.
