Disney's Animated Storybook - Toy Story (CD-ROM Longplay #13) 

Nostalgia is a beautiful kind of pain. It hurts knowing you can never really go back...but at least it happened to begin with...

The scene with Buzz dancing was always my favorite part as a little kid.

It's 3:53 AM and I'm feeling like an old 20 looking at this 😪 Haven't seen this game since I lost it when I was 4..... the nostalgia is crazy right now.

I LOOOVED this game when I was a kid. I was still in 3rd grade, I loved it a little too much that I played it just about every day in my free time. My mom wanted me to stop rotting my brain and do something else on computer, and after complaining how unfair it was she threatened to completely throw the disk out the window if I make one more complaint. I instead watched the Spongebob movie and enjoyed it, but I was still deep in my heart displeased that I was being made to do something else, & so I expressed when mom checked on me. She then followed through and actually threw it out the window! It did help me find other forms of satisfaction, but against all odds I discovered I had another copy! I then played this one as much as I could (until it got scratched, that is)

What I really admire from this game is how they got the original cast sans Tom Hanks and Tim Allen to reprise their roles. The voices of Woody and Buzz here are the voice actors who voiced them in the Toy Story Treats, Jim Hanks (who is Tom Hanks' brother) and Pat Farley. And it's also interesting to hear how Jim sounded when voicing Woody compared to later games like Toy Story 3 and Kingdom of Hearts 3 where his voice got better with impersonating his brother's voice.

The best way that I thought to do the Sid's backyard sequence during my copious playthroughs as a kid is to set up every single toy attack and then click the next arrow to have them all activate one after the other. I always had fun with that, it was my little trick!

The kids running with excitement and silly obstacles on the steps in Sid’s house made me laugh.

Man, all the time I spent playing this game as a kid. Good memories. One thing I do remember, and something I don't think anyone else brought up, is you can change the toybox in the "Changes" scene. The shark even has a new animation where he pops out with a space helmet and says "Look, I'm a spaceman. Greetings, greetings, greetings".

I used to goof around in the level of putting the toys back to their position at 10:30. Constantly hearing Woody correcting you whenever you picked a wrong toy. 😅 Even the sound when you put the toy at a wrong spot was hilarious. 🤣

Always wanted this CD rom as a kid, but never got it since my parent couldn't afford a computer back then. First saw this on the Toy Story VHS back in '97 and immediately thought this along with the games for the Genesis and SNES spelled awesomness!

Buzz and woody had to spend a creepy night together in Sid’s room. That was where they started to work things out.

I loved this game when I was little. Such memories of these games in general, especially by Disney.

The chain reaction page at 23:20 was my favorite part as a kid. I just enjoyed watching all the toys set each other off, while the music builds up throughout the sequence.

The fact this game made that frustrating moment in the film into a fun mini game shows how well done this is. Compared to the film, the moment Buzz was knocked out the window was preceded by a longer sequence than what occurred: rather than just Woody mainly using RC, there are a whole lot of other doodads controlled by everyone else (yeah, they reprimand Woody yet are unknowingly participating in the course of events that lead to the lamp hitting Buzz).

All of the characters should have all main, major, secondary, tertiary, duetagonary, deuteragony, tritagonary, supporting and recurring speaking and singing roles on all TV shows, movies, videos, documentaries, featurettes, video games, live shows, mall shows, concert shows, and special appearances.

As kids, we never owned any other of these Animated Storybooks including “Toy Story,” except only “Mulan.” We were more used into software content similar to Animated Storybook but not made by Disney, known as Living Books (now owned by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt), including the Arthur storybooks. We owned most of the Living Books softwares than Disney’s Animated Storybooks.

A fun game, but not as good as the actual movie. It's also so strange to hear Warner Bros. Looney Tunes sound effects used with a Pixar franchise. I always thought it was unusual how there were two doorbell sounds at 41:46 - 41:51; the first one being when Ducky actually rings the bell, and the second as Hannah says "I'm coming, I'm coming!"
