+Gene EugeneL Thanks! I'm enjoying doing the narration on these videos. I keep trying different things, and I'm glad to know that you liked the narration. :-)
+Mr Doookie Wow! Thanks! Yes, I meant to name it Disney's Port Orleans Riverside. I'll change it in a bit. I'm planning lots more like this bit from the resorts and the parks. They're really fun for me to do, so I'm glad to hear others like them as well. :-)
+Mr Doookie By the way, you seem to know your stuff about seo. Do you have any other tips or things you'd recommend? I always add tags based on the content and try to add as many relevant tags as I can think of. Any other ideas? This video seems to be taking off quickly... more quickly than my others. Just want to be sure I repeat the formula in the future. :-)
Thanks Josh for the tour and information. We've never stayed here but the design/architecture is beautiful. We know people who stay here every time they go WDW and love it.
Great video, really enjoyed revisiting the resort again. :) Stayed here twice, once in the Bayou, and again for 3 weeks in the Royal Suites for our Honeymoon. One thing to note, you mentioned in the video that the royal rooms are all styled differently for each Princess. They're all the same, but they all bring items for each of the Princesses within those rooms. The story is that Princess Tiana invited her friends over (Princesses) and they left various tokens behind. They're really wonderful rooms and the fibre Optic fireworks in the bed's headboard are a wonderful way to say goodnight. Its definitely worth checking the rooms out for pics, my favourite touches were the Genie lamp taps and the character detailing within the woodwork for Snow White and her critter pals.
+Ben Debnam Oh ok. That makes sense! We stayed in one of the princess rooms a couple years ago, but I can't remember which one. Lol. I do remember the fiber optic fireworks though. Very cool! Thanks for watching!
This is my favorite resort, I stayed here at least 3 years in a row. It’s a great place to explore and wander, some good food and just a great resort all together!
We always would stay at the Polynesian until we could not longer afford it as the family got larger. Stayed at Dixie Landings for the first time in 1999 and now, Riverside is our home away from home. Love the resort and loved the video. I could almost smell the fragrances of the resort.
Thanks so much for making this video! I've just booked this resort for a holiday next yr so it was wonderful to get a feel for the place - problem is you've made me even more excited and impatient to get there haha!
This is my favorite resort. Stayed here last 4 years and feel like you get the most for your money here. Yeeha Bob is the icning on the cake. Coming back from the parks and enjoying some good entertainment with a cold adult beverage.
Port Orleans is one of my favourite Disney resorts. In my opinion, Fultons is one of the best Disney Stores on property. I always find something at Fultons that I haven't seen anywhere else at Walt Disney World. Boatswrights used to serve breakfast and the best thing on the menu then was sweet potato pancakes. When they stopped serving breakfast, these delicious hot cakes disappeared until a few years ago when they reappeared on the breakfast menus at The Wave restaurant at the Contemporary Hotel.
What great video about our favorite resort ! I just saw this one guys. You are very accurate on the details about the Riverside details. We will be there in two weeks !!
i recall from staying here in i think 2016 that the transport bus goes over a bridge with a waterwheel nearby that looks like the bridge and waterwheel area where the food court is
I've booked to stay at this resort and enjoyed this tour. One detail you might want to check and clarify - Royal Rooms are in two of the mansion buildings (Oak Manor and Parterre Place), they are not themed to individual princesses but contain details that represent a number of princesses. The other two mansion buildings are not Royal themed.
Great video! Heading back for our third and last visit in January. We just purchased DVC at Saratoga Springs, so future trips are set! I chose it because it seems very similar. Going to check out that video as well. Subscribed!
Hey Josh steve and I are coming to Disney and staying either in French quarter or riverside, which of these two would u recommend and does Disney hotels have a free breakfast or is it all part of a food plan or just pay as u go. We heard a rumor you can’t pay as you go for good you have to get dining plans is that true?
I wonder why they changed the name I remember staying when it was Dixie landings, maybe that had negative connotations? You guys should visit Disneyland Paris sometime it's not as good as Florida but it's still really nice and in my opinion the food and theming of the restaurants actually surpasses some of the disneyworld ones.
+jonny5777 Yes, they changed the name around 2000. Not sure why. I've heard it was negative connotations with the name Dixie, but I'm not sure. I'd love to visit DL Paris. Jenna has been there.
I stayed here in 1994 when it was Dixie Landings (a much nicer name, in my opinion). Somehow it seemed much nicer then. I really enjoyed Pleasure Island when I was there. It's a shame what's happened to Disney.
+Rene Haywood Oh wow! That is so cool. I actually did notice the names around the top of the gallery, but I didn't know what they meant. I learned something today! Thanks!
I was here YEARS ago... when it was Dixie Landings. Anyone know why they changed the name? I do like this resort. Romantic for those that want something a bit more affordable and not overly "kidish".
I believe they changed it due to the fact that "Dixie" has a negative connotation. I'm from the North originally, so I'm not entirely sure, but that's what I've heard.
It’s not too bad at all... it’s further than some resorts because it’s in a different building, but we really enjoyed the stroll. I’d say it was about 10 minutes at a relaxed pace from our room.
Not true! There was a lot of farmland that was in use before Disneyworld was created. It is true SOME of the land was swamp. Also, there are some trees that were imported to this site.
Great video... but I have to make one comment... the Royal Rooms are all the same... there are not different rooms styled after different princesses, as described. Each room is decorated with objects that reflect all of the Princesses. The story behind the rooms is the all of the Princesses gave gifts to Princess Tiana which she used in her Mansion.
The food court is top notch, but you have been misinformed about Boatwrights. Waited an hour and a half past our reservation time to be seated. Service was horrible and the food was sub-par. The only mediocre thing about Riverside. We will be returning to Riverside for our fourth time in Feb but will not be patronizing Boatwrights.
The mill and the fans run only rarely. I think the hotel management cut these features out to save money. It's not because of the drought. Last time I was there, we had so much rain they were afraid it would run over the banks, yet the mill ran for about half an hour at dinner. I think they run it now for short periods just to keep it operational. They shouldn't run advertisements that show it running. I think this hotel has cut so many corners, it's not anything like it used to be. Also, they took the real butter and milk out of the restaurant court yard. It used to be our favorite hotel hands down. Now I won't stay there. I hope they get new management. This management is ruining this hotel.
