@@bobthebacon3163 it isn’t a bad thing for kids to learn but it’s bad that they can’t learn because it’s really important for kids to know about these things so that they don’t feel like an outsider or even worse for just being themselves. Yes they can choose when their older but they should know at least that if someone can have a mom and a dad they can have 2 dads or 2 moms. It’s just honestly better to have the education about LGBTQ+ people and everything its complicated.
@@bobthebacon3163 I feel like the problem is that we shouldn't assume any sexuality for them at that age ; including but not limited to them being straight , in my opinion they should not be told what se*(and how to practice it safely in the gay , straight or ace way) it's self is until they're a bit older , however they can be told what those sexualities mean in a basic sense like gay means you like people of the same gender etc , yes ace might be a bit harder to explain but it isn't impossible , like you could say that demi sexuals are only attracted to friends but don't like every friend like that etc
I hope once Owl House finishes, Dana Terrace and Alex Hirsch pull a Vivziepop and raise money to do their own indie projects like Hazbine Hotel and Helluvaboss by Spindelhorse. They have the prestiege and reputation to pull it off.
I am so sad she and Alex broke up. I shipped it hard. I realize a rltnship is what it is but I wish you could be an artist AND well-adjusted in this cruel world.
It’s funny how Disney may have thought « too much gayness, let’s cancel the show » and Dana just shoved all of the gayness and more into the tiny amount of time given. I love her so much
I legit don't understand this. Like... Why are they doing this? What do they get out of it? Why can't they just let us be? I'm a bi kid in Turkey, a very homophobic country with political prosecution. You know what kept me going? 2 things. Seeing the pride flag on the US embassy building, and queer representation in media. I wanna thank every American politician that fought to further LGBT rights, thank people like Dana who fought against these evil-minded a-holes knowing full well they were risking their careers, thank every US troop and spy who battled against regimes that suppressed our freedoms. To those US politicians, voters and lobbyists who try to limit our rights and freedoms. You are in direct opposition to everything your country stands for. Long live America. Long live Pride. 🇺🇸🏳️🌈🏳⚧

As somebody who was outed in school… it’s terrifying to think how easy this bill will make it to out kids to their parents… Thankfully, i was able to tell my parents before they found out through someone else, and I’m safe; but I know it won’t be and isn’t that way for SO many kids. If a kid is outed to their peers, it’s SO EASY for a teacher to hear about it, and this bill will do nothing but put these kids in danger.
Aww your so lucky you were able to come out to your parents all on your own, I couldn't because mine found out a very harsh way because my uncle found out about me and basically told my parent so know my mom knows and I don't exactly know how she feels about me being a part of Lgbtq+ but she doesn't seem to too happy :/ I'm really mad at my uncle now.
I am so glad Dana Terrence spoke up i am an LGBTQ+ kid i am so happy i get to grow up with people like Dana Terrence making shows with good representation and speaking out about stuff like this i feel really lucky that i am growing up with the owl house
I understand entirely, about a year and a half ago I realized myself as bisexual, and not long after that was when I discovered owl House. (A close yt friend recommended it to me, and told me about the amazing lgbtq rep, so I started watching it and fell in love) The show helped me accept myself, and just about half a year ago I realized I'm non-binary as well, and yet again, the show helped me accept that. The fact that Disney is willing to cancel shows like this and support bills that are implementing homophobia in children really hurts.
I found out I was lesbian at age 10. I am currently 12 and started watching the owl house in 2021. I consider myself extremely lucky as well for living in a time like this. I can relate to you strongly. (I don’t really have a point with this reply other than that I feel the same way.)
@@fkfkrkfkkdkwkd My stepparent is a genderfluid pansexual who uses all pronouns. I told him about cartoons such as the owl house and amphibia, and she loved that society was getting so much more diverse. Then Disney came along and tore all the creators dreams apart.
@@lulufangz are you sure your not me from another universe because my mom is non-binary and bi and i tell them about all these show's and they love how much representation is in kids show's now and day's (they prefer the title mom)
...i can't tell if you're being sarcastic? If you're not then I'm sorry to tell you this is the tip of the iceburg. I did not grow up in America so I don't have a sort of blind assumption that disney is good. Do a little digging around homophobia and racism and you may view disney as a not so safe place.
I was brought up not having ever heard of LGBTIQ+ people and not knowing what words like gay or straight even meant. I thought people just lived to opposite gender and that’s how it was. I knew I liked girls but I thought that that was impossible and that it just doesn’t work like that. LUCKILY, I had safari and I searched up what to do if you like the same gender and then once I heard of LGBTIQ+ I remember researching and studying all the different terms in secret at night for MONTHS. Then one day I just had enough and went around shouting ‘I’M LESBIAN IT’S NORMAL SHUT UP’ to random people at school- 😬 The only people I haven’t told after all these years are my parents 🧐
@@infinityheart_tm9270 I just don't get why she, or any other creative spirit would pitch anything as amazing as the Owl House to Disney in the first place. ...Although given recent events, Netflix isn't sounding too good either.
@@theimperviousfirecracker7934 Major platforms are having major decisions that can setback these cartoons, Disney can provide a good budget to a show but does have it's restrictions to what can and cannot be said or shown; Netflix isn't doing so hot either in the cartoon industry. Why pitch to Disney? They've had a good history with cartoons and Dana knows people from other shows like Gravity Falls who would be able to contribute to this style for the The Owl House, although there could be a different reason for going with Disney. That's just how I see it. A show can last on RU-vid but to broadcast to a wider audience (extending out of the country) probably needs a network having that power. Even if that means other places go against certain pieces of media shown in your cartoon. I'm no expert either, this is my view on this topic.
Yeah, I'm glad she was at least allowed to have the 3 44 min episodes instead of being outright totally canceled. It sucks so much, Owl House is the best show they've had since Gravity Falls, and all the queer-coded and outright-queer representation is SO great and makes me feel so happy, i WISH I would have had that show as a kid, but as an adult it still makes me cry and brings me so much peace and joy. I hope that Dana will be able to keep creating amazing work and that she can get more work out there like Owl House that can touch the lives of people. She's literally like Luz fighting against Belos, it's funny how the show's story kinda mirrors her rebelling against Disney/conservatives in that they're trying to look good but are actually evil, and she created the show in spite of it all and shows us what acceptance and found family are. We need more positive, loving representation by queer people for queer people, and that includes kids! Queer kids exist!
Disney is so awful. I feel really bad for Dana, it sounds like a terrible position to be in, working for a company like that. I really wish I could have been at the charity stream and helped.. alas, I have ✨annoying parents✨ I’m glad it went well though! $70,000, right? It’s great to see that so many people are against this bill. Hopefully it doesn’t become legalized everywhere
Dana Tarrece is one my favourite human beings in this world. I'm a huge fan of The Owl House. I would watch all the episodes every single day and night. When I heard that there wouldn't be any more episodes and when I heard that Disney was behind this sad travesty, when I say I have *NEVER* been so sad, angry and lost and distraught. I've been mourning for a month now. Sometimes, I find myself humming, whistling and playing the opening and ending tunes on my guitar. This show made me relate to some of the characters. It made feel ok to accept myself for being bi and non-binary. It made feel like me in a way! TOH will ALWAYS be my top favourite Disney show and that's because of Dana. Not Disney.
I think this definitely confirms that despite Dana's initial response to TOH's shortened season 3, it was *definitely* cancelled due to homophobic executives. Like, it was already obvious, but now it's undeniable.
Disney is a fake ally. You can’t stick a lesbian kiss in “The Rise of Skywalker” or have Josh Gad dance with a guy in the background of “Beauty and the Beast” or give America Chavez two lesbian moms and think you did your part when you actively cancel a show whose main character is gay. Disney prefers their gays in the background. Luz and Amity had a wholesome relationship. It felt genuine and didn’t come off as pandering but the homophobes at Disney didn’t want a main character front and center in a relationship with another girl. I’m sick of these companies waving a Pride flag in our face while stabbing our community in the back.
This is for Dana Terrace please continue the Owl House u can continue it on Hulu Netflix or prime or something except Disney please I’m begging u the Owl House is my favorite show please 🙏🏻 🙏🏻🙏🏻
I figured. I hate people like that but everyone saw it coming. That’s why they didn’t let The Owl House have a proper third season. They are bad people. They don’t deserve the pay or the things that their company owns
@@bobthebacon3163 well Disney has a homophobic past, a Homophobic present (literally just watch this video), and Dana had to push really hard to allow Lumity to happen
i hope Dana and the other queer cartoon creators will have their own channel to make their queer cartoons in the future.i will totally let my kids watch it.
Wow, I was actually so curious what Dana's thoughts were regarding this subject, I had no idea this video existed. Funny how Disney was caught supporting that bill around the same time they decided to cancel The Owl House. Even funnier is how both decisions came back to bite them in the ass.
for the longest time ive been in denial of who i was. but now i can strongly say that i have found my true self and i am happy to say that i love my true self and others can too. in the compeling words of dana ive always felt ive been wronged by the system but i have always stayed strong for both myself and others.
From the way she's speaking I can tell that she's hurting really bad. I feel so sad🥺🥺😞. Yk the world has so many different people from different backgrounds🧟👷🤵🏿👨🏼🚒🧙. But we share the same earth for a reason🌐. I think if we talked to each other and understand stood each other we could build a better world. I also think that we need to accept each other for who we are even if it doesn't appeal to us at times. It's how unconditional love works. If something is wrong for someone it will show eventually. We need give each other the opportunity to learn. And sometimes what's bitter for us is candy for another. I'm straight but if your not, always know that you exist for a reason. Just the way you are. Some may not see it but it's a million times worse if you don't.🤍❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤
I'm glad Dana Terrace spoke out and she finally quit Disney after they gave her so much crap about her show The Owl House. I hope she finds a better company that truly supports her work and LGBTQ+ representations. Or maybe she can work with Rooster Teeth on their show RWBY because in Volume 9, they finally made another favorite ship of mine canon between 2 female protagonists. I think she would be very happy to work for them.
Dana Terrace and her team (to whom I would be eternally grateful) certainly did the best they could with the time they were given. That's what professionalism is. I hope that their work has a great impact on people's lives and that in the future these people understand the message they wanted to convey in this cartoon and become true supporters of the LGBTQIAP+ community, I hope that Disney recognizes the error and is severely punished by the community and that Dana and her team get all the recognition they deserve and that TOH can one day resume with a comeback and a gorgeous restart by an initiative from Disney itself after recognizing its mistakes.
@@ghostnob4798 not in all religions. In Hinduism they don't have any mention of homosexuality being bad. In Daoism it's also fine. Basically, a lot of Asian religions never say it's bad.
And this is why we love and respect Dana and the owl house Also did anyone get flashbacks to the Disney lgbtq+ merch, anyone remember that crap? This is better than that crap by 100,000,000/10 👌
you know it’s really sad that Disney canceled the owl house. It was a great TV series Dana Terrace I hope that you get an opportunity someday in the future if you choose to to make a sequel TV series, I think you would’ve might enjoy it and the fans would definitely enjoy it.
Well, this is the worst shit that I’ve seen come from straight white cis conservative men (I’m Canadian, we use ‘liberal’ and ‘conservative’ instead of ‘democrat’ and ‘republican’) ever. So so sorry for all y’all living in the area where the bill is active, sending support from a half-out ace enby! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
To Danna I love u and your show The owl house u didn’t deserve for your show to get canceled I hope in the future u will get to finish it the way u wanted how it was supposed to 😢❤love u 👇🏻
Dana, wherever you are, I just want to say that I came up with a big imagination. That I've compared The Owl House Season 3 to The Lord of the Rings trilogy, where the three episodes are extended into three and a half hour movies where we see the moments we never got to see. Thanks to Them as The Fellowship of the Ring, focusing on the gang on Earth. For the Future as The Two Towers, focusing on The Boiling Isles and acting as a part 2 and a prequel to what happened in the demon realm, just like The Godfather Part II. Watching and Dreaming as The Return of the King, focusing on the conclusion of the show.
It's absolute bullshit! Other Disney shows can have queer characters. I would say it's because of subtlety, buuuut The Ghost and Molly McGee has a teacher that often talks about her wife and the last season of Good Luck Charlie has a (very openly taked about) lesbian couple with a kid... And apparently Miss Marvel has two moms (I haven't seen it yet).
Hey Dana if you want to continue the owl house then copy your owl house show and continue the show on cartoon network or at least something that will support the owl house
I'm proud that my one of my favorite shows EVER has such a strong advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights. I really hope Dana gets to expand her awesome show through extra content or a spinoff!
I'm so happy people like Dana exist who give a damn about LGBTQIA+ kids, and try their best to protect us against fascists who want to k!ll every single queer person and child. I'm in the LGBTQIA+ community, and sometimes i'm terrified to even go outside or tell someone i'm queer. Even if I know I have their endless support. It's disappointing how queer shows get treated at Disney. Having an entire SEASON SCRAPPED because it didn't conform to the brand is absolute bullshit. I really hope that Dana gets to expand upon her world she's bulit through extra content and hopefully a spinoff of some sort. I really, really hope that one day people will wake up and realize what they're doing taking human rights away. I hope we start evolving again with equality, and not continue to devolve. In the past year abortion rights were taken away, basic bodily rights were stripped, not to mention the mass murd3r taking trans rights away does. When will this bullshit stop? Have hope and try to celebrate the small wins. We have to fight for our rights! I'm really proud of Dana for speaking out, and being such a huge advocate for us!
As a fellow queer, I can tell you it is very hard to not include a LGBTQ+ character in my content (My content being books) but I think we can call agree Lumity is worth it all
I think maybe Cartoon Network might buy it, a while back I saw a pride tiktok from CN and someone said in the comments "You should buy owl house so it's not being run by a homophobic studio" or something, and CN liked the comment. Literally liked about 3 others..
