Disney World Construction Update: BoardWalk Refurbishment & Polynesian DVC Tower Progress! 

The interiors of the poly tower are beautiful, thankfully. They could have done a better job on the exterior design to make it blend better with the rest of the resort but here we are. We bought poly resale expressly in advance of the tower so we're excited to check it out next year.

I'm honestly a little disappointed in the pool. It looks quite simple without many features shown even in the concept art. Even if you look at the Disneyland Villas pool you can see you they included some details to help with the aesthetic. They have a splash pad that is themed and while the pool's only a square, they added a lot of additional design details like the trellis walkway. Little things, but they break up the space and how it looks. Sadly, the Polynesian Tower pool looks a little bit like a motel pool...nicer motel, yes, but not great.

The squares (cubes?) seem like viewing platforms for shows in or across the lagoon.

I met Amy on The Boardwalk during this visit last week. So exciting. I was also in a newly opened Boardwalk view studio. It became available the Friday before my stay (For June 3rd-7th). The room view is in this video. I was in one of the rooms with wet paint signs. There were construction workers on my balcony daily, which was not an issue for me. The beautiful view at night made up for all of it!

That pool at the poly tower is embarrassing. I cannot believe the tower guests, with all those added rooms, have that tiny kid pool to share. That pool plus the existing poly pool (which is small as well) is going to be extremely crowded. Have no idea what dis is thinking for a warm weather vaca spot. Just embarrassing.

Thankfully we have Polynesian points whoop 🎉… we bought a resale contract literally just before this project was announced. So, I am super super happy about that. I cannot wait to find out how much it costs points wise though!!

Thanks for the update! I remain torn between buying direct points at Riviera vs Poly...thinking I am going to hang tight for Poly, but some of the updates have been a little disappointing recently. Hoping Disney releases more info soon - maybe after this round of incentives expires in a couple weeks.

Yeah the pools will be packed. The lava pool is already always packed and with all the people in the tower it will more than fill this. Oh well, can't get everything I guess even though you kinda expect it from Disney.

My wife & I are interested in the Poly, however, we are waiting to see the points chart before we make a final decision.

Sorta humorous to keep hearing about buying Poly resale points to stay at the new tower. Unless you are a master "walker" with incredible luck you are going to be disappointed. EVERYONE that buys new Poly points when the tower goes on sale are buying to stay at the Poly tower(I know I would be). But lets look at this realistically, there are 4 million outstanding Poly points. The new tower will probably create 4 million new points, So lets say DVC declares 5% of the rooms into inventory immediately (200,000 points worth of rooms). So the first few months the Poly opens for booking you will have 4 million existing points and approx 100K to 200K new points competing for reservations for only 14 rooms(5% of inventory). You could argue that the existing 4 million point owners won't want the tower, but the tower has NEW studios also, so I would argue that everyone booking Poly will first try to get studios in the new tower before settling for the old Poly studios. Now you will have people buying $250.pt contracts direct from Disney specifically to stay at the new tower and Disney will have to tell them. Oops, sorry, no rooms available, other Poly point holders have taken all the rooms. Does DVC have the ability to create a third class of points within the same association? The will have to do something to protect Tower point buyers from being shut out of Tower reservations.
