in the late 90s, I had a friend who's mother worked in a building that used tape security cameras. she would be allowed to take tapes home when they're old. and the tapes had tons of those image over image "ghosts". was fun freaking people out with them

People's selective incredulity never ceases to astonish and amaze me. Yeah, it's totally unbelievable that Disneyland would still be using VHS tapes in the modern digital age. That's just crazy. _Clearly_ what's really happening here is we're viewing an authentic video of an actual disembodied, anthropomorphic, metaphysical, translucent, intangible "soul" of a deceased human being wondering the park. Now _that_ makes sense. Not that bullshit, "Disneyland still using VHS security tapes in 2009" nonsense.

security cameras these days are still, most often, ccd (for a few reasons), tape is still used often for cost reasons, and the streaking artifact is more common an issue with cheap lenses more than the sensor itself (but not exclusive to lenses though). 4:3 aspect ratios are still common for security cameras too

Is it just me or does the Mickey sound more like Kermit the frog. Especially at 6:20.

I was working at Disney in 2007 and can confirm that they were still using the described recorders for their security cameras. They had similar visual issues to the ones mentioned in the show. For instance, one camera had been moved to a different angle and you could see the old image from the previous angle still burned in to the recording.

"Pre-roll", ah the good old days. Captain D, you're a genius for referencing that old term.
